Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Oblivion

Aisha's POV

My back slumped against the wall and all the air inside me leaves my body. My chest is heaving up and down as I sit on the ground while clutching my heart. I lean my head against the wall and close my eyes. Cold shivers grasp my body as tears trickle down my cheeks.

What have I done…. I ponder.

All this time, the people I trusted the most, backstabbed me.

My throat is hoarse from crying so much, my feet hurt from continuously running but still the fear is present. The fear of getting caught.

Suddenly reminiscing over my past actions I weep while hugging my knees close to my chest.

I am all alone.

The thought hurt me to the core and the reason for being this way was only me.

'Clatter!'

My head shot up and I sat straight. The sudden sound coming from outside the alley suddenly made me aware of my surroundings.

I was sitting in a dark alley, hiding from the possible chasers. I stand up and stealthily walk closer to the street with my back against the wall. It was midnight but the street lights could make my appearance visible even in the corner. As I peeked outside the Alley, I found that it was just a cat playing with a tin can.

I release a breath of relief and weakly turned around only to be encountered with a large manly body.

"Thought you were going to fool us, princess?" The man spat and his mouth twitched up in an ugly grin.

I took a step back cautiously and found the same tattooed man I had been hiding from right in front of me.

As I moved back my body hit with another hard chest. Turning around I found the same evil pair of eyes that chased me around. I found no mercy as he neared me.

Am I going to die?

If this is it for me… Then I don't want to die a humiliated death.

Please, Allah! If you are real… If you are the true God. Help me.

The two men cornered me until my back hit the wall. I had no place to run.

Suddenly the sky started pouring and the evil grin on the men's faces widened. My body shivered as cold droplets of rain hit my body. I tried to shrink in my place as if to somehow hide my drenched body that the hungry wolves on either side of me glared at but it didn't help.

What was I thinking? I scoffed inwardly.

Why would God help me when I never considered him half of my life...

"Who will save you now?" One of the men slurred.

Suddenly picking up some leftover courage, I looked the man in the eye. "Allah," I answered.

"Yeah, right." The men guffawed, looking at each other.

Suddenly taking this chance, I kneed one man between the legs and flee out of the alley while hearing curse words and the slumping of a figure.

Adrenaline rushes through my body and suddenly I am not tired at all. I run without thinking. I will keep running until my legs take me to a safe place. But where was a safe place? I had no idea where I was going. I am in a foreign country, I don't know the language, I have no one to contact either! Sooner or later they will find me again and-

"Omph!" A hand came from behind and grabbed my face.

"You whore!" The man growls.

I was caught! Again.

The man crushes my body against his and a whimper escapes my lips.

He uncovers my mouth only to kick me on the back. I fall on the ground with my head hitting the ground first. I weakly pull my head up to find some help.

Rain blurs my vision and the excruciating pain from my forehead makes it even more difficult to keep my eyes open.

"You should have listened to me!" The man shouts as he kicks me again and again in the abdomen.

My body shrinks in pain and I was unable to get out the words 'help'. With blurry vision, I spotted a small gleam of light from a distance but slowly it was getting dark again.

I stretched my hand out towards the light and somehow was able to make out the word. "Help!" Or was it just my imagination?

Sleep was kicking in and pain was slowly subsiding.

"Aisha!" I heard a familiar voice. Hearing this voice had only angered me, but now it felt like a bucket load of relief.

I heard some faint noises in the background before I was met with a pair of ocean-blue eyes that always wanted to write a story. A story that I never wanted to be a part of. A story of us that I gave up on before it even began.

If I could ask for one thing… It would be the happiness of this man that I wronged the most.

"I'm glad, it's you Hazek." I smiled weakly before I fell into oblivion.
