Michael and the other Seraphs stiffened when they saw that Mordred's group weren't really going to be easy to deal with.
"First of all, thank you very much for your service Mordred. The world owes you a huge favor." Michael thanked him and the other Seraphs bowed at him.
"Then pay up." Mordred said immediately without hesitation and Michael blinked dumbly.
He also got another nifty ability once he came in contact with Azi Dahaka. And that is to have multiple thought processes at once.
Not the type where he just sped up his thoughts. Genuine other Mordreds inside of his head that can think independently. And due to the little dragon's personality. They all agree on everything, unlike Azi Dahaka.
So he quickly formed a plan to benefit from this as much as possible.
"Pardon?" Michael didn't know if he heard him right. "Payment, I've done the world a great service yeah?" Mordred doubled down and all the seraphs broke into a cold sweat except Gabriel who agreed wholeheartedly.
'Umu, it is only right. We also need to make him an honorary Seraph.' Gabriel thought.
Meanwhile, Serafall went quiet and she thought that this could be the bridge for an alliance of the three factions that are in the works.
It is incredibly hard to go through with it when all the three factions have bad blood against each other. Skirmishes weren't rare either.
And when opposing factions meet, they were more than ready to get in a fight.
"P-payment? W-what will it be then?" Michael said subconsciously. Serafall and Scathach immediately jumped on the opportunity like a dehydrated man in a desert.
'Mordred, attack him with all you've got. You have the high ground here. Michael named your price.' Scathach communicated with him through telepathy.
'Yes master, I noticed that.' Mordred looked at Michael and Mordred's mind ran a mile a minute.
There were so many things that he can get from heaven. The dirty pigeons are stealing everything that should rightfully belong to others after all.
Case and point; Excalibur. Which is supposed to be with the Pendragons. And this is also a good time for a few people to be sent to him.
"I'll make a quick call." Mordred formed a magic circle. "Bonjour, monsieur Mordred." Jeanne greeted and the seraphs knew who that was immediately.
They sucked in a breath as Mordred would likely take the possessor of the spirit of the maiden of Orleans.
"Jeanne, how are you doing there?" Mordred asked while looking at Michael and the Seraphs.
"Doing nicely, Irina and Xenovia are doing good. They aren't as strong as me, but the two of them are really powerful for their age." Jeanne reported.
"Ohh? How about any information that you managed to scrounge up?" Mordred squinted his eyes and the angels panicked.
"Yeah, so the Sigurd institution who trains clones of Sigurd are the worst. They dug up the guy's corpse so they could get his DNA you know!?" Jeanne huffed and the angels who were panicking started to go pale.
"I see, as expected. The church can't even leave a respectable man's grave alone. Of course this must have been green lighted by heaven?" Mordred wanted her to expound.
Serafall and Scathach smirked at him. 'This guy, is he a sadist? He's making the angels go through shame play~ I love it.' Serafall was fidgeting around while Scathach nodded at him in satisfaction.
'As expected of my greatest student. He's shutting them down even further so we will have more rewards.' Scathach was proud.
"We were able to learn of heaven's involvement yeah. It was pitched to them and the higher ups agreed. This is a project that was sanctioned. Just like the holy sword project." Jeanne added and the angels looked down in shame.
"We thought-" Uriel, the archangel of holy flames was about to defend themselves.
"But nothing, hypocrites. For valuing the sanctity of life. You definitely play with it for a profit eh? How many sword wielders did you manage to make with the sacrifice of dozens of innocent children? And I bet that your clones are going insane." Mordred glared at them.
Using the DNA of Sigurd as a base for their clones is definitely not a good idea.
The man was a dragonslayer that is definitely a top warrior back in the past. Only a handful of humans are able to slay a dragon.
And coupled with the experiments that they would surely go through. Those child clones of Sigurd are most definitely going to go insane due to the massive power of Sigurd.
He wasn't born that way, he fought his way to strength. That's why cloning people like that will always lead to failure. They don't ever consider how the donors got to the top in the first place.
"Mordred, you have to underst-" Michael tried to diffuse the situation.
"Ohh, I understand plenty. The church, meaning heaven. Is not only grave robbing, you are murderers that have no honor." Mordred huffed at them.
"That's definitely not true!" Uriel shouted in denial. "Then what of the fae? I sure know that the church won't be able to move without your permission." Mordred stood up and his kin were also preparing for an altercation.
Ise was already collecting boosts so she could transfer it to Scathach, Tiamat, and Serafall.
"P-please, let's calm down for a moment." Gabriel looked like she was going to cry and Serafall savored her expression.
"I'm not done yet. What about Camelot? Heaven would definitely be looking out for it. But what happened to it? The historical Mordred burned it to the ground. No angels in sight, not even one." He was getting heated.
"T-that's... The fallen and the Satans were ramping up their harassment at that time... Forgive us, we couldn't look out for Camelot." Michael frowned heavily.
"Incompetence breeds weakness. Maybe we should just take over heaven and run it ourselves? I bet that it will run much more smoothly." Mordred took out his sword and it hummed with energy.
"Mordred! Please, heaven was in a difficult time back then. And... And father died in the last great war." Gabriel shouted with tears in her eyes.
Everyone else raised a brow at that, except Tiamat and Serafall. They knew that Yahweh died back in the great war. He seemed much weaker than normal. Everybody noticed it.
"So what?" Mordred surprised them with his words and the angels blinked dumbly.
"Just because your leader died, doesn't mean you can just agree to atrocities. Or be so incompetent that you don't even know what's happening, my opinion of heaven just got lower even." Mordred shook his head wistfully.
It is the duty of the angels to be steadfast. Even more so when Yahweh died. Because humanity needs them more than ever.
"And it surely shows. How many of Yahweh's creations are in your hand? I have the majority of the Longinus with me. And they follow me willingly." Mordred pointed at his kin.
There were six of them with him. And it would surely increase in time.
"Are you currently in heaven!?" Jeanne shouted in shock.
"Yeah, I am. So wait patiently, I'm having an important discussion here." Mordred ended the call.
"Now that we established that I do not really like heaven. Let's get on with my payments." Mordred sat down again, but he put on an aura of coldness.
It was just an act. The death of Yahweh surprised him and Mordred knew that Michael must be desperately trying to keep the system in line.
But he really did think that they were incompetent. A couple of angels to monitor the church would be enough. An angel with just a pair of wings are a dime a dozen. They might be the weakest faction right now. But that doesn't mean they're almost going to go extinct.
Heaven is just heading towards that path, they still have the numbers to fight. The fallen and Devils actually have no advantages over them.
The devils are the most disadvantaged in an all out war. The only reason they're not the weakest is due to the presence of Sirzechs and Ajuka. Without those two, heaven would crush them and smite their asses.
"What is it that you want? In order for us to be amiable?" Michael looked like he bit a lemon. There are many things from their faction that rightfully belongs to Mordred.
Like the Excalibur fragments, Gram, and Merodach. The latter two are just collecting dust because nobody can use it. But there's a boy named Siegfried that has the potential to in the Sigurd institute.
Merodach isn't as strong as Excalibur, but it is a sword that is very picky with its wielder. Nobody managed to wield it. Even the seraphs of heaven.
The Excalibur fragments are just that, a shadow of its former self. Even natural holy sword wielders like Xenovia who is now the wielder of Durandal can't use it to its full potential.
And Mordred who can use Caliburn is definitely going to be compatible with them. Gram might be a bit tricky, but Mordred is strong enough to use the demonic emperor sword.
"I want the troublesome church trio and Griselda. They will be my ward from now on." Mordred put up four fingers and the seraphs didn't expect him to ask for them.
In all accounts, Jeanne, Xenovia, and Irina are already in his group. They're just staying there for now.
Griselda was a weird choice, but Mordred wanted someone to take care of them. They're not nearly strong enough to be left alone. And Xenovia views her as her surrogate mother.
"Done." Michael nodded immediately, thinking that was pretty easy.
Mordred then put down one of his fingers. 'Ahhh, I spoke too soon...' Michael frowned heavily, cursing himself for calling out to Murphy.
"I want Excalibur, Merodach, Galatine, Clarent, Arondight, and Gram. Caliburn is based on Gram. It's a cousin of my swords, so it's included." Mordred demanded and they couldn't really reject his claim over them.
As the most legitimate Pendragon. Even more so than the historical Mordred, he is the king of knights that rightfully deserves them.
The Seraphs had ugly expressions when he named every sword. They were from the knights of the round table.
So it's basically his. And those were just gathering dust in their treasury too. Because unlike the fragments of Excalibur. Those swords are complete.
And their strength means that the egos of the swords do not accept unworthy wielders so much more.
Especially the swords of the knights of the round table.
"Do go on, those weapons are useless in heaven's treasury anyways." Michael gave it away to have a stronger ally.
"Umu, third. I want heaven to talk more with Serafall here. The Satans want peace, I want you to be more aggressive for it." Mordred pointed at Serafall and she blinked.
"Mo-kun..." She was thinking of how to use the meeting to her advantage. But Mordred did it for her with ease.
"That's... Acceptable, heaven does not have the resources to start another great war." Michael nodded and was pretty happy with that one.
"And the last one. Make sure that the church know who we are. If somebody from the church wrongs my group, our alliance will be null and void." Mordred took out a piece of paper.
He started writing the contract and gave it to his advisors for the meeting; Scathach and Serafall.
Serafall added some things to it. Asgard was added to the alliance in order to solidify it much more. The more factions in it, the better.
Scathach also added things to it. The ones who were responsible for the fae incident will be executed by their group.
And Valper Galilei will be hunted down by the church with extreme prejudice. That guy could be giving away the secrets to have more holy sword wielders.
Using a holy sword doesn't exactly make you an ultimate class threat or something. But enemy wielders of it can be annoying. Even if they can't harness the full powers of holy swords.
That also extends to magic swords. If the more picky holy swords were cracked by him. Then magical blades that aren't as temperamental can also be researched so that even a basic Mook will be able to use them.
"Accept it brother, Mordred's deeds cannot be paid with just this alone. The evil dragons almost destroyed the underworld. And without father, heaven would have been trampled on." Gabriel advised and Michael sighed.
"One question, what will be the name of your faction?" Michael already considered their group one.
Tiamat is with them. And it is no secret that she attacked Asgard on her lonesome. Reports came in that she could've destroyed it on her own.
Then he glanced at the purple haired woman beside Mordred. She scared the shit out of him.
Scathach is a bonafide godslayer. And she just has an aura that seems to fight back against heaven's system.
And she doesn't even flinch when it's trying to prod her and reject her from heaven. The place really doesn't like Scathach's connection with the land of shadows.
"Our name huh? I guess we will be announcing it formally here." Mordred stood up and he stabbed Caliburn on the ground, putting his hands on its hilt.
All of the members of his group except Scathach and Serafall spread their wings. Different colored dragon wings appeared. And their tight hold on their mana loosened.
'Impossible... They're all at the ultimate class. And those two are even at the peak of it. Not to mention that they are Longinus wielders.' Michael and the seraphs blinked dumbly.
Their group were definitely capable of being cadres of a faction. And Mordred's horns appeared on his head.
"I am the king of knights, the true king of England. And I lead my faithful kin. We are called Dragon Nest. Beware, for a dragon's wrath leaves nothing, but pure destruction." Mordred's regal aura made the angels look at him in a daze.
