Right after the signing of the contract. Scathach bound them to it through her runes. Tiamat with primordial magic and Valerie's Sephiroth Graal. While Serafall sheepishly made do with a magic contract.
'Damned dragons and monsters. My contract pales in comparison to theirs. And I'm supposed to be the one that specializes in those!' Serafall grumbled inside of her mind.
She was eternally grateful to Mordred though. Not only did he give Sona a chance to be super strong. But he helped her greatly with her job.
As the Satan of foreign affairs, she is expected to be responsible with peace talks. Sirzechs helps her, but Serafall gets the brunt of the work.
Something grated on her nerves though. Gabriel was the one who volunteered to pick up the church trio. And the holy swords were in the Vatican.
Angels don't use them after all. So all of them are at the church. Humans are the potential wielders, not angels. Though Mordred thought that was a bad idea.
He doesn't have anything against humans. But they're factually weak. And those swords will definitely get in the wrong hands if they get raided or something.
You can't underestimate crazy fuckers that want to see the world burn.
"I'll teleport you to the Vatican, Mordred-kun. And it's very nice to see you in good health Serafall." Gabriel smiled and the Satan bristled.
"Hmph, you're probably trying to seduce Mo-kun with your fat tits!" Serafall pointed at her accusingly and Gabriel just tilted her head.
"Serafall, she's a seraph. She can't seduce anyone. She will fall." Tiamat deadpanned at her and Serafall glared at her.
"Tia-chan! I thought we were on the same side! It's easy for you to say that, because Mo-kun loves you the most!" Serafall huffed at her and Tiamat got shy a bit.
"Well, he does love me a lot." She giggled and Mordred nodded with pride.
Gabriel teleported them and they arrived in the church of the Vatican.
They were immediately met with bootlickers of course. And Gabriel ordered them to bring the four people that are involved with the contract.
"While we wait for them, let's go to the treasury." Gabriel led them herself and everybody went towards a vault that was riddled with protective magic.
They entered and Mordred immediately felt a familiar feeling when he stepped inside.
And the swords that he mentioned started glowing. Especially Excalibur and the swords of the knights of the round table.
Gram was different though, it gave off a challenging aura that was crimson. It recognized the evil dragons and Mordred was worthy to be wielded by the strongest demonic sword.
But as a demonic sword, it chooses the wielders through their strength.
So he grabbed it with his magic and overwhelmed it with void magic. Making the sword go quiet immediately as it was given a taste of the abyss.
"Good, I don't like uppity weapons." Mordred nodded in satisfaction and he looked at the Excalibur fragments.
He stroked the flats of the blades softly. Closing his eyes for a little prayer for the fae that died to repair the broken sword.
"I have finally received Excalibur. The fae can now rest in peace. And I hope that Viviane would feel better with this." Mordred sighed heavily.
Arondight was a bit weird though. It was both resentful and unconditionally loving. 'I guess it is as expected as Lancelot's sword.'
Mordred shrugged and remembered that his biological mother had an affair with the fairy knight. So as Arthur's son with Guinevere, Arondight has a complicated relationship with him.
All the others accepted him meekly though. Recognizing him as the true king.
Gabriel and Serafall was shocked due to Arondight transforming though. It is a cursed sword that changed due to Lancelot's resentment towards Arthur after seeing Guinevere be executed.
But now, it was a holy demonic sword that was made possible due to Yahweh's death.
"A great haul indeed." Mordred smiled, pleased with what he got.
And when he took hold of Clarent, everybody could swear that a golden crown appeared on his head. As the rightful ruler of Camelot, it strengthened his stake to the throne.
And the tainted energies from it due to Mo-chan stealing it and rebelling melted away like water based paint.
"Too bright!" Shirone shielded her eyes and Gabriel who is used to holy energies and light saw his vibrant green eyes glow brightly.
Mordred's hair looked like it was brilliant, pure gold that passed through flames to make sure of its purity.
"Beautiful..." Gabriel whispered, but everybody heard her of course.
"Kuu! I knew it! You're trying to seduce Mo-kun, you cow tits!" Serafall claimed once again and Tiamat smacked her on the head.
"Don't be suspicious without basis Serafall, my baby really was beautiful just then. His eyes were like the brightest emeralds that got shone on by sunlight. And his hair was like a mane of gold." Tiamat nodded sagely.
She wasn't embarrassed to admit, her son was the most handsome young man in the world.
"You'll make me blush, mom." Mordred smiled at her and he stored the holy swords in his hammerspace.
Including the unexpected boon of a strong holy demonic sword that can rival Excalibur. Not that Excalibur is useful right now with its current state.
Gram would definitely shit on the Excalibur fragments. It is the equal of it when it was complete.
"Now, I'm guessing that the girls must have arrived here right about now." Mordred checked the magical signatures approaching and the four requested individuals did appear.
"Gabriel-sama... Mordred-sama, we are here per your request." Griselda kneeled and she clasped her hands.
"So you're a VVIP now Mordred? Being escorted by archangel Gabriel-sama?" Jeanne chuckled and Mordred shrugged.
"I've always been a VVIP Jeanne. More than you can imagine." Mordred didn't expound further and they didn't pry.
"G-Gabriel-sama is here..." Irina was panicking. Even though she isn't disillusioned with the church anymore. Seeing the archangel in the flesh was another matter entirely.
"I-Irina... Calm down, you'll embarrass us." Xenovia took hold of her, but her legs were shaking as well. Gabriel is basically one of the leaders of heaven after all.
And they were just mere humans that never expected to see an angel. Moreover, a seraph at that.
"Fufufu, don't be afraid young ones. Have you heard? All of you will be Mordred-kun's ward now." Gabriel shared the good news.
Except, Griselda grimaced immediately. She feared for her life. As Mordred definitely was about to smite her a few years ago.
"Griselda, let bygones be bygones. We are allied with heaven now. The devils will make some noise a bit, but you better make them shut up Serafall. Or I'll erase the great king faction." Mordred warned her and Serafall nodded immediately.
He doesn't joke about things like that. He'll definitely fucking do it. She won't even dare to tempt fate. He sent the Tepes faction to oblivion because he doesn't like them.
If the great king faction tries to restrict them. Mordred and Tiamat would definitely retaliate. And with the former gaining tons of holy swords that he could use to their maximum potential.
Several pillar houses would definitely go extinct. And that made her extremely nervous, thanking the heavens that he was friends with Sona. Even though it gave her a headache.
"O-okay... But why me though? Won't be an angel be better than me in whatever you would want?" Griselda was confused.
"Xenovia likes you, Irina too. Jeanne tolerates you, an unknown angel isn't even an option. When you're right there." Mordred shrugged and Griselda nodded.
She then looked at Xenovia and patted her head a bit. "Hear that Xenovia? I guess we'll be stuck together." She chuckled, calming down now.
"Un..." Xenovia hugged her and Mordred was right, the blue haired girl really likes Griselda. And it's not like he hates her or anything. He just really dislikes her hypocrisy back then.
"Anything more Mordred?" Gabriel smiled at him and she really liked him. He helped heaven with a crisis after all, even if he doesn't feel like he did.
"Hmmm, now that I thought about it. Let me check the Sigurd institute. Let's see if I'm correct that they are most likely going insane right now." Mordred announced and Gabriel nodded seriously.
There was one of them that is going unstable and they don't know why.
Mordred and co. then went towards the Sigurd institute, being watched by children with white hair and red eyes.
He squinted his eyes and he was proven right. They were clones of Sigurd and the children were further augmented with genetic material from the donor.
Trying to turn them into Sigurd himself. Which was a really bad idea. Humans can't handle being that strong.
Mordred is a special case. Even if he wasn't a dragon, he will still be much stronger because he worked for it. Not cutting any corners, which can lead to terrible downsides.
"Mordred, forgive me. But there is actually a child that is getting extremely mentally unstable." Griselda winced and he sighed.
"As expected, lead me to him." Mordred rolled his eyes and they went to an underground prison.
And what he saw made him frown. A white haired child was shivering in fright as they opened the door.
"N-no. Stay away, I... I will kill you, I'm a monster." The white haired boy was frightful and Mordred clicked his tongue.
"T-this is terrible. He is going insane due to Sigurd's unstable DNA due to the augments." Valerie could see his soul starting to crack.
Sigurd's essence was trying to dominate his mind. But the man's soul isn't there. And it will ultimately lead to an unstable personality. An aggressive one too, because Sigurd was a born and bred warrior.
Mordred then casted a sleep spell on him. "Valerie, fix his soul. I'll make do with runes about his body."
Valerie nodded and she started repairing his soul while Mordred sealed the latent power from Sigurd's DNA. Combining rune magic and primordial magic so he could grow up first before trying to control it.
'Hah, good thing Albion and Ddraig adviced me to hone my skills more first. I would've ended up worse than this.' He remembered what happened a few years ago with Augusta.
Now, not only is he more skilled in magic and combat. Mordred was pretty sure that he wouldn't have met with Scathach.
And that wasn't a worthwhile trade-off. He would either have Apophis and Azi Dahaka's souls completely assimilated if he managed to do so.
But the current him would definitely kick that version's ass due to his skills improving leaps and bounds because of Scathach and Souji.
"Let me go! I want to see what they're doing with brother Freed!" A girl with gray hair and black highlights was being restrained by a guard.
"Let her be." Mordred ordered and she immediately ran towards the boy with a protective stance.
"Don't worry girl, he'll be better than ever." Mordred explained and she looked towards Gabriel and Griselda for confirmation.
The duo nodded and she teared up. "Thank you very much sir! I will never forget this." She immediately bowed deeply and he ruffled her hair.
"No problem, just doing god's work." Mordred thought that was ironic and Gabriel couldn't help but feel awkward.
"Lint, is Freed really okay?" Another silver haired boy who was a bit older peeked in.
"Siegfried! This noble sir helped Freed with his problems." Lint smiled brightly and Siegfried blinked in surprise.
Freed Sellzen, one day just had sudden surges of violence and aggressive behavior.
He wasn't like that, so they just observed him. But after further testing, nothing seems awry. Except that it got worse over time.
They were actually thinking of exiling Freed, or sending him to tough missions where he could use his violent tendencies.
"Thank you, stranger. You have my thanks as well." Siegfried bowed at him and Mordred got interested in him.
The older boy wasn't really that strong in the grand scheme of things. Shirone could rip his head off before he could even blink.
But they were special. And Siegfried managed to get to high class strength in such a young age. Even though he was augmented.
So Mordred got an idea. "Gabriel, close down the Sigurd institute. I will be taking in all of them to my faction. Yahweh would be disappointed in you if you continued this farce, no?" Mordred smiled and Griselda twitched.
"That's right... As my authority as one of the archangels. I give you permission Mordred-kun, please take care of them well." Gabriel returned a smile and Mordred was pleased.
It was a big responsibility. But he will make his own heroes. Who says that a hero should have a small group?
'I will realize their potential. And they will be the finest warriors of Dragon Nest.' Mordred is really happy with his haul.
And Jeanne who has blade blacksmith can arm them with holy swords. Meredith can also give them her sharpened nails from Alphecca Tyrant.
The church would have an aneurysm upon learning that the failed Sigurd clones will be holy sword wielders in his hands.
After all, they can just turn them into naturals. 'Valerie, you are definitely going to have a reward.' Mordred smiled at her and the dhampir tilted her head.
