Chapter 28 - He back 2

Olev watched the fight with keen interest. He could see that Genevieve and Draven had different fighting styles. Genevieve relied more on speed and precision, while Draven relied more on strength and endurance. Genevieve preferred close-range attacks, while Draven favored long-range strikes. Genevieve used agile and varied movements, whereas Draven employed stable and consistent ones.

Olev also observed that Genevieve and Draven possessed balanced abilities. They could both attack and defend well, without giving openings to their opponents. They could anticipate and adapt to each other's moves, maintaining concentration and vigilance. They could pressure and challenge each other, displaying unwavering confidence and spirit.

Olev was surprised by Genevieve's rapid progress. He saw that she had mastered many basic techniques he had taught, such as stance, grip, thrust, parry, riposte, feint, lunge, fleche, and balestra. He also noticed she had learned advanced techniques from Draven, like disengage, beat, bind, coupe, change of line, change of engagement, counter-riposte, remise, redoublement, and reprise. Genevieve had also developed her own fighting strategies, utilizing Rek Link to enhance her sword's power, using random movements to deceive opponents, leveraging the environment for positional advantage, and employing onomatopoeia to express emotions.

Olev felt proud of his niece for her excellent performance as a temporary student. He could see Draven had taught Genevieve patiently and professionally, without favoritism.

He could see Draven had given Genevieve valuable advice and criticism, without hurting her feelings. Draven had challenged Genevieve in various ways, without intimidating her.

Olev smiled with satisfaction and nodded. He prepared to offer feedback to both Genevieve and Draven after the fight. He believed they would accept his comments graciously, as they were both eager learners.

The battle between Genevieve and Draven was intense and thrilling. They were determined not to lose to each other, attacking and defending with utmost skill. Neither was willing to surrender, standing their ground and fighting on.

However, after several minutes of fighting, someone emerged victorious. It was Genevieve.

Genevieve managed to trick Draven with a feint, a false move to divert his attention. She then swiftly lunged forward using a fleche attack, aiming her rapier at Draven's chest, and yelled, "Ha!"

Caught off guard by Genevieve's sudden strike, Draven couldn't evade or parry in time. He felt Genevieve's rapier lightly touch his chest as she yelled.

Genevieve realized she had struck Draven in a vital area. She promptly withdrew her rapier and stepped back. Triumphantly, she looked at Draven with a broad smile.

"I win!" she exclaimed joyfully.

Draven acknowledged his defeat to Genevieve. He raised his right hand and sighed, smiling thinly. "Yes, you win," he said in good sportsmanship.

Olev watched the outcome with surprise and delight. He hadn't expected Genevieve to defeat Draven, an experienced and trained secret agent. He cheered and applauded for Genevieve.

"Congratulations, young lady! You fought remarkably! You've proven yourself as an exceptional student!" praised Olev proudly.

Genevieve heard Olev's praise and felt happy. She ran towards Olev and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Olev! I'm so happy! I never thought I could beat the formidable Draven!" she said with joy.

Olev returned Genevieve's hug and patted her head. "You're welcome, young miss. I'm also very pleased. You've developed faster than I expected," he said sincerely.

Draven watched the scene with envy and sadness. He felt embarrassed to lose to Genevieve, a student who had recently begun learning to use a rapier. He walked over to Olev and Genevieve, looking dejected. He then bowed respectfully before them.

"Congratulations, young miss. You deserve the victory. I admit my defeat," he said humbly.

Olev looked at Draven with a friendly smile. He released the hug on Genevieve and helped Draven to stand. He then hugged Draven and patted his shoulder.

"Don't be disheartened, my nephew. You also fought impressively. You've proven yourself as a good teacher," he comforted.

Draven heard Olev's words and felt somewhat relieved. He reciprocated Olev's hug and nodded. "Thank you, Uncle Olev. I'm glad I could do what I did, even teaching the headstrong young miss," he said sincerely.

Genevieve was slightly annoyed by his remark, but she still looked at Draven and smiled sweetly. She approached Draven, shook his hand, and thanked him, apologizing as well.

"Thank you, Draven. You've taught me well. I've learned a lot from you. I apologize if I've been too headstrong or bossy," she said politely, shaking his hand firmly.

Draven heard Genevieve's words and returned the smile. He shook her hand back, offering praise and apologies.

"You're welcome, young miss. You've learned well. I'm very impressed with you. I'm sorry if I've been too strict or challenging," he said politely.

Olev watched Genevieve and Draven exchange thanks and apologies, smiling contentedly. He then invited them to rest on the training field's edge, providing drinks and snacks. He proceeded to give feedback on their fight, offering appropriate praise and critique.

"Alright, young miss and my nephew. I'll provide you with feedback on your fight. First and foremost, I must say that both of you fought remarkably. You displayed your rapier skills well, neither dominating nor lagging behind your opponent. You both showed good sportsmanship, with no cheating or roughness. You exhibited high spirits, never giving up or losing hope. Both of you deserve my commendation," praised Olev proudly.
