It took 2 hours for Itachi to reach the front of the line and within that time there were a multitude of different reactions from people receiving their ranks.
They ranged from excited and disappointed in their rank potential. Itachi was unconcerned by the comments of these people, because through sensing his own mana and of those around him he knew he surpassed every person in this room entirely.
He picked up this neat little trick of sensing mana when he was in the hospital through meditation and constantly circulating his mana to get to a similar level control as Chakra or more refined.
...
When he arrived to the station 5 and was meet with a man who looked to be in his early 20's with short black hair and a kind smile on his face that didn't meet his eyes.
"Place your hand on the magic detector, please," said the man's surprisingly deep voice. Itachi did so and placed his hand on the purple crystal ball attached to a machine powering the display screen in front of him.
"Wow! That's the first A-rank of the day. Congratulations!" the man informed him with lots of enthusiasm in his deep voice.
Itachi simply nodded his head giving no indication on how felt about his A-rank evaluation.
"Alright just head to the fighting bay so that we can determine your hunter type," said the man.
-Note-
*Hunter types
There many different ways a hunter can aprroch combat in the gates, which is why different hunter 'types' are incorporated into the hunter's rank.
They go as follows:
Tank
Mage
Healer
Assassin
Fighter
Ranger
These ranks are important because hunters never do a dungeon raid solo, but are done in groups of 6-8 hunters at time. With these types known by group members they can maximize the groups efficiency in combat.*

Itachi arrived at the fighting bay in no time. It was there he met a young woman that had black hair, with hints of blue, tied in a messy ponytail, she had an athletic build, above average height with a fair complexion. She was sitting on a chair in the middle of a massive all white room.
There were burn marks and scratches littered randomly throughout the room.
"Yo! You must be the new A-rank that I've heard so much about," the young woman said. "The name's Mai Kazama and you're going to fight me," Mai introduced herself with a predatory sheen in her dark brown eyes.
"Itachi Uchiha, nice to meet you, Kazama," Itachi intoned politely.
"Heeyy! Aren't you that kid who woke up from eternal slumber." Mai questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes I am," Itachi said simply.
"And now you're an A-rank hunter...damn you're lucky," she said with a toothy smile on her face.
"But, you're only lucky," she then looked at Itachi with a dangerous glint in her eyes while saying that.
She shot forward from her sitting position on the chair towards Itachi with lightning speed. Her fist ready to make an impact on his chest.
Itachi saw this coming and put his arms up in an x position blocking her initial strike and then doing an almost causal backflip kick to create a 2m distance between them.
'He's good' Mai thought to herself.
She knew from that exchange alone that Itachi was an experienced martial artist, which was strange because she wasn't sure where someone so young could gain that much experience from.
Itachi deicided to take the initiative and launch a high right roundhouse kick to her head hoping to end the battle in one blow, but she blocked it with her left hand while releasing a right hook straight to Itachi's head.
Itachi tilted his head back just in time to dodge the counter strike from Mai.
'Looks like I'll have to speed things up a bit," Itachi concluded from her exchanges with Mai. He figured he wouldn't be able to take down Mai in his current state.
He shot forward completely blitzing Mai's senses and landing a devastating gut punch, knocking the air out of her. He then proceeded to grab her by the collar of her dress shirt and launch her across the room.
Mai took a deep breath from her downed position and slowly lifted herself back up.
'He's gotten faster!' she exclaimed in her head.
Mai knew that Itachi was holding back up until this point and probably still is, but she didn't expect him to blitz her senses like that.
'Looks like I'm gonna need more to deal with you,' she deicided.
Mai suddenly exploded with green mana around her body indicating that she, like Itachi, was visibly letting loose.
'Let's what other cards you're hiding, Itachi!' she thought with determination in her eyes.
She shot forward with greater speed than previously and was immediately pressuring Itachi with a barrage of blows coming from his left and right.
Itachi dodged all it and caught her left fist with his right hand. He prepared a vicious left roundhouse kick to deal heavy damage to Mai.
Mai's aura explode outward forcing Itachi back before his kick could connect.
'He fights like a fighter with the nigh undetectable steps of an assassin,' she surmised from that exchange of blows with Itachi.
Mai took a breath to calm herself and she shot towards Itachi her fist coated in green mana.
[Serpent's Strike!]
Itachi widened his eyes when he lost sight of Mai entirely. He was suddenly sent tumbling for a few moments before regaining himself and settling in a kneeling position while holding onto his torso.
'She's becoming more serious, and that technique of hers definitely took some of my mana just now, how problematic,' Itachi concluded from experiencing the Serpent's Strike technique.
Mai was suddenly in the air with her right fist cocked back ready to make contact with Itachi kneeling on the ground.
[Death Roll!]
Itachi rolled out of the way in time to dodge the magnitude 2 earth tremor that created web cracks on the ground at the point of impact.

Head office of the Association Building
A man in his late 40's with well combed hair, square shaped glass on and very good looking features was busy with paper work. He was signing off on all the maintenance equipment needed for the Association Building in the next month, when suddenly he felt an earth tremor.
"Ah! An earthquake?" he questioned out loud.
He then spread his sense and immediately let out a chuckle afterwards realizing the cause of the tremor.
'She hasn't done that in a while, she must be really excited right now,' the man thought to himself with a sweatdrop.

Back in the fighting bay
...
Itachi deduced that Maimost likely held back her strength to keep to the building from suffering major damages. In any case he knew he had to ramp it up if he wanted any chance of coming out on top.
"You should take this more seriously!" Mai shouted with a wicked grin on her face.
"You might be right about that," Itachi stated nonchalantly.
"The next attack shall decide it," Itachi said with certainty.
"Is that so, huh? Ha! Don't get so cocky, kid! You're only lucky to be here, remember!" Mai shouted back while glaring at Itachi's impassive face.
"We'll see about that," he responded with a small smirk playing on his lips.
They stood still for a few moments before finally launching at each other. They exchanged blows ferociously while dashing and darting to every wall and corner in the entire white in a matter of seconds.
[Serpent's Strike!]
With a burst of speed Mai ended the stalemate with a strike to Itachi's torso spending him spiraling to the ground.
He was laid flat on his back with his eyes squeezed shut and grimace set on his face from the pain in his torso. When he reopened his eyes he saw Mai's fist reared back ready to finish him if he tried to free himself from her on top of him.
"It's Over," she stated simply.
Itachi just started at her from his position on the ground.
"You are correct," A voice she recognized said from behind her. She turned her and widened her eyes when she saw who it was.
A second Itachi towering over her body looking down on her with most unique crimson eyes she has ever seen.
"What! How!" Mai said in shock.
