Chapter 8 - Lin Family

As she stood there, waiting for the door to open, she felt her heart pounding in her chest. She held her breath, afraid to break the spell that had been cast upon her. And then, with a creak, the door slowly swung open.

At first, all she could see was darkness. But as her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she saw a figure standing before her. And what a figure it was.

The woman was stunning, with a beauty that is unimaginable. Her eyes were as black as the night sky, and her skin was as white as snow. It was as if she had been carved from marble, so perfect was her complexion.

As Lin Chang stood there, transfixed by the woman's beauty, she felt a sense of awe wash over her.

But as the woman looked at her with confusion, Lin Chang realized that something was wrong. It was only then that she remembered who the woman was, her own mother, this was Lin Lisha

who had aged so gracefully that she looked like a young passed out university student and not 41 years old lady

Lin Chang couldn't help but smile at the thought. Her mother was a true beauty, and she was lucky to have her in her life.

Lin Lisha hesitated before asking, "And you are?" As she took in Lin Chang's appearance, she couldn't help but wonder if her landlady had sent a new enforcer to collect the rent. She braced herself to kneel, but was caught off guard by Lin Chang's next words.

"Mom." The foreign word hung in the air, and as it left Lin Chang's lips, her heart skipped a beat. It felt as though a void had opened up inside her, and a lump formed in her throat, threatening to burst forth in tears.

Lin Chang felt happy when she called her mother. Serene wished she had a mother's love. Lin Chang also wanted to see her mother from a past life, but she felt confused because she had two different feelings. It was like a storm and a breeze fighting inside her. She felt crushed and couldn't find a way to feel better. She wanted to feel calm, but she was stuck feeling overwhelmed.

As Lin Lisha stood there, her mind raced with a million thoughts. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. The word that had left Lin Chang's mouth had hit her like a ton of bricks. She needed a moment to process it all.

Lin Lisha took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that whatever was about to come out of her daughter's mouth would change everything.

"Y...Yun Chang?" Lin Lisha called out, her voice trembling with anticipation.

But before she could even finish her sentence, Lin Chang burst into tears. The floodgates had opened, and there was no stopping the torrent of emotions that came pouring out.

Through her sobs, Lin Chang managed to correct her mother. "No mom, it's Lin Chang," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lin Lisha's heart sank. She had been so sure that her daughter was lost to her forever. But now, seeing her daughter in tears, she knew that there was still hope.

Without hesitation, Lin Lisha took Lin Chang in her arms. She held her close, feeling the warmth of her daughter's body against her own. It was a moment of pure joy and relief.

For days, Lin Lisha had been haunted by the memory of her daughter's cruel words. She had called the Yun Family, hoping to find some answers, but all she had found was pain and heartbreak.

But now, as she held her daughter in her arms, she knew that everything was going to be okay. She knew that she had found her way back to her daughter, and that nothing could ever tear them apart again.

Yes, she was her own daughter. And nothing could ever change that.

Lin Chang gasped for air as she collapsed into her mother's loving embrace, tears streaming down her face. If only she could turn back time and return to the safety of her mother's arms in a past life. Then, she wouldn't have fallen victim to the treacherous Yun Family or encountered the devilish man who had caused her so much pain.

Regret gnawed at her heart as she realized that her own greed had led her down this path of suffering. The weight of her agony and distress bore down on her, and she cried even harder, releasing all the pent-up emotions that had been building inside her.

As Lin Lisha held her precious daughter close, she couldn't help but feel a pang of resentment towards the Yun Family for causing her child to endure such hardship. However, in that moment, she made a solemn vow to shower her daughter with an abundance of love and affection, and to provide her with all the resources and support she could possibly offer. Nothing would stand in the way of her devotion to her beloved daughter.

After thirty minutes had passed, Lin Lisha led her daughter into the living room, where she presented her with a refreshing glass of water. Without hesitation, Lin Chang accepted the offering and downed it in one swift gulp.

"Let us put the past behind us, Chang. Can we do that?" Lin Lisha pleaded, her voice quivering with emotion. "I know that I have caused you pain, but it was due to my own incompetence. Please forgive me."

Lin Chang shook her head, her eyes filled with understanding. "No, Mom. It was not your fault. And you are right, let us focus on the present and the future."

Setting the glass down on a nearby table, Lin Chang scanned the room. "Where are the others, Mom?"

Lin Lisha's face lit up with amusement. "Oh, your Uncle has gone out to find a new job. He got into a fight with his boss last night and was kicked out."

"Uncle?" She knew she had an Uncle, but she never bothered to learn more about him in her past life.

"Yes, you have an Uncle, Chang. His name is Lin Bao" As she regaled tales of her mischievous younger brother, a grin spread across Lin Chang's face. The conversation was entirely consumed by Lin Bao and his devilish antics. As the discussion drew to a close, Lin Chang couldn't help but conclude that her Uncle was a fascinating character, and she eagerly anticipated meeting him.

After a while, Lin Lisha excused herself and scurried off to the kitchen to whip up some more dinner for her daughter. Meanwhile, Lin Chang made her way to the bathroom. Though it was a mere fraction of the size of the luxurious bathroom she had in the Yun Family estate, Lin Chang felt no discomfort whatsoever.

With a gentle touch, she began to remove the layers of makeup. One by one, the rings were removed from her face that made her face look horrible. With a steady hand, she applied disinfectant alcohol to the intricate tattoo that covered her half neck and shoulder.

Finally, she stepped into the warm, long and refreshing bath, letting the water wash away the stresses of the day. As she emerged from the shower, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and was struck with the biggest shock of the Universe.

"Is that really me? Lin Chang?" she whispered, staring at the reflection of Lin Chang, a woman who had been hiding behind a mask for far too long.
