Chapter 14 - Brother and sister in law

As Lin Chang was diligently packing up her stall, she was suddenly jolted by an angry roar that pierced through the bustling market. "Come out Lin Lisha, you sl*t!" The words echoed through the air, causing heads to turn and eyes to widen in shock. Lin Chang looked up to see a woman in her early fifties, her face contorted with rage, standing alongside a man of the same age. The woman's nose was flaring like a volcano, ready to erupt at any moment.

In a flash, Lin Lisha and Lin Bao emerged from the kitchen, their faces etched with concern. "Brother Qian? Sister-in-law?" Lin Lisha greeted them respectfully, trying to diffuse the tension.

But the woman was not to be placated. "You're really too much, Lin Lisha," she spat out, her voice dripping with venom. "You paid another sl*t to work at your restaurant as a waitress just to attract customers because your restaurant isn't doing well?"

Lin Bao's irritation was palpable as he turned to his sister-in-law and asked, "What on earth are you talking about? I don't understand" save for his beloved sister Lin Lisha, he had never been particularly fond of his family, especially his elder brother Lin Qian and his wife Gao Fa.

"Lisha, I'm disappointed in you. Can't you conduct business with a fair hand?" Lin Qian scolded them both.

As the drama unfolded, a crowd had already gathered around the stall, eager to witness the spectacle.

"Brother Qian, Sister-in-law, can we talk in private, somewhere else? This is not an appropriate place," Lin Lisha humbly requested.

Although Lin Chang was uncertain about the situation, she recognized that her mother was at a disadvantage and felt a sense of anger. However, as they were her mother's relatives, she attempted to restrain her emotions.

Gao Fa, on the other hand, was dismissive of the request. "There is nothing to talk about," Gao Fa's eyes darted around the room, when she caught sight of Lin Chang standing nearby and was momentarily taken aback by her beauty. But her anger quickly returned, and she pointed a finger at Lin Chang and said, "Husband, look at her! That slut*ty waitress your sister has hired! That bi*ch!"

Lin Bao's eyes narrowed as he followed the direction his sister-in-law was pointing at. All he saw was a sea of red, and his anger boiled over. "How dare you!" he bellowed, his voice echoing through the room. "She is my niece, my sister's daughter!"

He took a step forward, his fists clenched tightly at his sides. He was just a hair's breadth away from unleashing his fury on his sister-in-law.

But then, a sudden confusion swept over the room. "Daughter?" Lin Quin and Gao Fa echoed in unison, their faces twisted in bewilderment. And then, it all came flooding back to them - the whole fiasco of the fake and true daughter.

Lin Bao's eyes blazed with fury as he glared at his sister-in-law. "Apologize to my sister and niece," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "Or else I won't let you leave this room. I'll call the cops."

Lin Quin and Gao Fa were taken aback by the sudden turn of events. They had heard that Lin Lisha had been having a continuous flow of customers today, all because of a new, beautiful waitress they had hired, therefore they were so furious that they rushed here without thinking much.

Just a few steps away from Lin Lisha's food stall lies the restaurant of Lin Quin. With a constant stream of customers and profits that could make one's head spin, Lin Quin and their team looked down upon their neighboring vendors, Lin Lisha and Lin Bao. Their chef was a master of the culinary arts, but came with a hefty price tag. So when news of Lin Lisha's booming business reached their ears, they couldn't help but feel threatened. Gao Fa, in particular, despised Lin Lisha's ethereal beauty and longed to have her under her control. And so, they rushed to the scene, ready to fight for their place in the food chain.

As Gao Fa laid her eyes on Lin Lisha's daughter, a seething envy consumed her. 'How dare she, my daughter should be prettier than this worthless rag and not the other way around,' she seethed in her mind.

"So, you're the daughter of Lin Lisha," Gao Fa sneered, her voice dripping with malice. "No wonder you're raking in more customers today. Seduction must run in your blood, just like your mother. A mistress giving birth to another mistress, how fitting."

Lin Chang, who had been trying to keep her cool, felt her blood boil at Gao Fa's words. But before she could even react, a sharp sound echoed through the room - the sound of a slap.
