In a world with billions of people only 30% have powers these can be amazing powers like creating things with energy provided from their bodies or as small as blowing a gentle breeze.
Most people envy those with powers one of them is Jim, a high school senior going to star secondary. He doesn't socialize much and goes to the gym twice a week.
Jim, at 17 years old a fairly average looking teenager with lots of pimples. He had a face that many would forget after a couple minutes. A skinny body. Short curly brown hair.
Jim had just went through another average day at school. Jim disliked his school, even though his parents tried their best to send him to that school he didn't fit In. This school was the third best school in the province, due to being an expensive school only those with rich and powerful families would attend.
Jim would get bullied by the kids with superpowers. Especially when it was gym time. They would always push him around knowing he couldn't fight back. If Jim even said something remotely offensive to those kids he could get expelled by their parents.
He had a long way to go until he was home. due to his family being poor his house was very far away from his school.
He hated that school almost everyone had powers and there were even classes for them but all he could do was watch. He always wanted to become a hero. Not to be famous or rich nor did he want to save people he simply thought it would be fun. Not that he was a bad person or anything. Jim would save someone if he could but that wasn't the main reason, he just wanted to fight and feel the rush of danger.
Jim was half the 20km distance it took to get home as he saw something.
'Hero? Villain? Victim?'
Jim approached the person. As he got closer, he saw them bleeding.
A man with a stubble and strikingly handsome face. A chiseled body with an open wound on his stomach, a width of 3 inches and 2 cm deep.
"H-hey, are you okay?"
The man signalled him to get closer.
Jim came closer and reached for his pocket.
"What happened? I should call an ambulance one sec."
"Hey kid. Come here"
Jim went right next to the injured man he had already started calling the ambulance.
"I'm calling the ambulance so just hang on they will be here any minu-"
The man yanked Jim and put a knife on his throat.
Jim was caught off guard
'Is he a villain? Damn it why am I so unlucky?'
Jim then saw a man flying towards them it was lightning man, he had a worried expression on his face.
"Let go of the kid he doesn't need to be harmed"
"Like hell I will! I wouldn't let go even if you begged me, now just stay there until my team comes or he's dead"
'Well guess I'll be fine as long as Lightning man doesn't try anything. Anyways who is this guy I haven't seen him on the news so he must be a new villain he can't be weak if lightning man is struggling to catch him. Seeing as he is being pursued by lightning man he must have some formidable powers.'
Lightning man was conflicted he couldn't just let the villain go. But because of Jim he couldn't stop him.
'The villain's breathing is getting heavier his grip is loosening maybe I can escape soon'
Lightning man saw Jim's intention and was worried. he didn't know all of the powers of this man and would not be able to escape. If anything it would make it harder to save Jim.
'I can make it just a little more. He seems to be on deaths door but surely a super villain would be able to survive if he was left alone. Maybe I should attack him?'
Both the villain and hero where surprised with how calm this kid was, maybe he had a power? Or just didn't feel threatened.
'NOW'
Jim elbowed the villain in the face and took off. The villain was surprised with this and couldn't retaliate. The sound of an ambulance was blaring. Jim had gotten far enough from the villan. Lightning man then launched towards the villan and was putting on the handcuffs suddenly…
"THUMP"
Jim's vision started to fade. As he fell to the floor he saw three people two of them running towards the villain and one smiling at him with a bloodied baseball bat in her hand…. He would remember this feeling of danger.
