Chapter 28 - Chapter 26: Matters with the merchant

Garwyr's POV

It's been two months since, and right now, I am currently at Silper investigating what happened to the merchant.

I always visit every week to see the progress with the trial, and today, I heard that Theo Ormer, owner of the Ormer Company, is now dead. Two days ago, when the court sent him 50 years in prison, including confiscating all his assets, he was found dead inside the prison. His cause of death is unknown, and right now, the kingdom is investigating this matter, thinking that he has an accomplice that wants him dead to cut off their connections with one another.

Because of this, rumours began to spread that other merchants are also involved in the matter, hence why some of the citizens are restless.

By the way, the merchant that got falsely accused because Theo Ormer is now being reimbursed with compensation. However, because of that, the Sarvall kingdom has a bad reputation, resulting in most citizens being dissatisfied with them.

Hoping to fix this, they use most of their resources to investigate everything surrounding Theo Ormer.

Count Jonah, the noble who ruled the Agellis territory including Holgate, Bronwall, and Silper, has been made to take responsibility, so now his son, Jeremy Rigus Agellis is now the Head of the Agellis Household. The townspeople felt sad since the Count is quite popular with his people for being fair and responsible lord. However, Count Jeremy, his son, is also popular for being humble and kind, so they feel relieved that their Lord is also a good person.

Count Jeremy issued a new knight order to give more security and safety to the territories, and degrees a new set of rules to have more strict policies. He ensures that he will not let it happen again, giving him more looks of approval from his people.

Meanwhile, there are also many people have been arrested after being involved with Theo Ormer and his business. The victims have returned to their loved ones and families while some are being treated. Because some of them have been injected with Selika, they are now being monitored by the officials so they can also be investigated. While some people were dissatisfied with this, the kingdom offered assistance and compensation to show their sincerity.

Even though Theo Ormer is dead, that doesn't mean that Rina is safe yet. Right now, I am making sure that no one else is looking for Rina, so I am investigating all his accomplice to make sure. So far, no one even knows or care who Rina is in Silper. With that, the only one left to investigate is Holgate.

Right now, I am at the General Store of Silper. I was shopping for many kinds of ingredients used for Rina's cooking. Everything she makes is very delicious, so now I am buying ingredients, especially the exotic ones.

After shopping, I went to the Hunter's Association building. I am still an official Hunter, so I have to sell some of the monsters that I hunt.

"21,000 gil for the Elk's hide, blood, and antlers. 2,400 gil for Boar's pelt and tusks. 3,800 gil for seventy-six Goblin ears. 6,000 gil for twelve Orc ears. 33,500 gil for the Bear's pelt, fangs, and claws. The total is 66,700 gil."

The receptionist lady handed me six gold coins, six silver coins, and seven bronze coins on a pan. I put them all in my pouch.

"Thank you for contributing to the association. Please keep up the good work, Mr. Garwyr."

I nodded.

"But, umm... Will you not sell the meat to us?"

"Sorry, but I am using them for cooking."

"I see, If you have any spare meat left, please sell them to us. We are willing to buy them more than the market price."

"May I ask why?"

"Well...umm..."

She looked at the person who seemed to be the overseer of the association behind the counter. The overseer nodded, and then she began to explain it to me.

"Have you heard what happened to the Ormer Company?"

"Yeah. It got shut down because of what happened to the owner, right?"

"Yes, and since Silper relies heavily on Ormer company for the constant demand for food supplies, we are now facing a food shortage because of that."

"I see, i'll keep that in mind."

"Thank you, We look forward for your contribution."

As i was about to leave, i was suddenly called out by the other hunters in the vicinity.

"Hey, kid! Must be nice getting some gil by stealing other hunter's game!"

"Yeah! Where the hell did you even get them?"

"Perhaps he got it from leeching from the veteran hunters!"

The receptionists and the other hunter are dumbfounded to the thug looking hunters.

Of course i ignored them and went to the exit.

"What the f*ck! You go the gall to ignore me, brat?!"

"Hey..."

"Huh?!! What do y-...!"

I don't know what is going inside since i was outside but i don't care either way so right now i am heading to town of Holgate.

The only reason for me to go to Holgate is to investigate the orphanage. From what i heard, is that it is owned by Theo Ormer. While the Director seems to be a descent according, it is still used for illegal business so i am heading there to investigate.

After arriving at the Holgate, i immediately went to orphanage. It is at the south side near the marketplace.

When i arrived at the exact location Rina told me, there is nothing there except a store. Confused, i enter the store thinking that it may just be a cover up but inside is just a normal store filled with furnitures.

As i was thinking that Rina could have made a mistake, a male clerk attended me.

"Is there something you need?"

"Uh, there should be an orphanage here so i thought..."

"Oh, could it be that you're a former orphan?"

"You could say that."

"I see. A month ago, the orphanage was destroyed and since the owner can not be contacted anymore, it was then returned to the town and turned into a store by the new owner."

"Destroyed? How?"

"Hmm, I heard it was done overnight. Apparently it was caused by some sort of powerful attack that made it collapsed. Although, authorities tries investigate it, they found nothing."

"Huh... What about the people residing the orphanage?"

"No one got hurt apparently. I also heard that they are transferred to another orphanage."

"Where?"

"I'm sorry but that's all i know."

"I see, thanks for the information. Then I'll take this and this as a thanks."

"That will be 14,000 gil."

I handed him one gold coin and four silver coins. By the way, i bought two large cabinets and small drawer since Rina gotten a lots of new sets of clothers and undergarments.

"Thank you for you purchase! Would you like us it to deliver to your home?"

"No need, i'll put them in my magic pouch."

I stored them inside my pouch.

"Please come again!"

After leaving the store, i decide to guestion the residents while purchasing their wares. Right now, everyone is saying the same so i guess that is all i could find about the orphanage.

I then headed to Hunter's Association here in Holgate for the purpose of selling the same thing as i did to Silper. The reason for this is to avoid making one branch getting bankrupt. After all, all the monsters that i hunted are enough to bleed one branch dry if i sell them all.

After entering the Association, i saw two adults together with a bunch of children who are the same age as me arguing with some hunters.

I sighed then entered the building.
