The two groups of people are arguing as I entered the building.
The staff and the other hunters are watching to see the situation while some are doing business as usual.
I went to the receptionist lady, not paying attention to the argument.
The receptionist noticed me and made a business smile.
"Welcome. Are you here to register, young sir?"
It looks like I was mistaken to be a child starting out.
Children at the age of twelve and above are allowed to be hunters. While they can register to be one, they must are still apprentice hunters. They are recommended by the Association to join with other children as a party or join a regular group of hunters to ensure more safety. Sixty years ago, the age limit was supposed to be sixteen years, but ever since the great plaque emerged that have lasted for five years have killed millions of people, they lowered the limit to twelve years after the plague is officially ended. The victims are working adults and elderly while the young ones are spared from the plaque. Having no choice, every country and organisation implemented this to avoid a shortage of manpower.
I brought out my Hunter's identity card and gave it to the receptionist. She looked at the card, and her eyes opened wide. She looked at me and the card alternatively.
It's always like this whenever I show my card to the association in another branch for the first time.
As I stared at her, she seemed to snap out of it and handed me back in a hurry.
"P-pardon me for my mistake, Mr. Garwyr!"
"It's fine."
"U-umm, are you here to sell monster materials or take a commission?"
"I'm here to sell, please."
"Then follow me to the dismantling room."
She left the counter and then went to the room next to it. I followed her and noticed that the two groups that were arguing were looking at me as I went on. Not bothering to look back at them, I entered the dismantling room. We both sat on the chair with me on one side, and hers were across the table. Another staff member is standing on the side, who is both an appraiser and a butcher.
"Mr. Garwyr, please bring out the materials."
I nodded and then brought the same monster materials as I did in Silper. After putting them on a table, the appraiser is listing down everything on a note while the receptionist is dumbfounded.
Ahh. Same as usual, people are getting dumbfounded with this whenever I bring out what I hunted.
"Is there something wrong?"
"Huh? O-oh, I just thought that was a lot."
"Yeah, I get that a lot. People keep thinking that it was impossible for a kid like me to hunt this much."
"I'm sorry if I offended you..."
"No worries."
She bowed her head, looking apologetic. I assured her that it was alright. After the appraiser listed all it all down, he then handed the note to the receptionist. He then looked at me and asked me something.
"Excuse me, mind if I ask something?"
"Is it about the meat?"
"Yes, if it's possible, would you also sell some meat to us?"
"I'm sorry, but I don't have any left."
I still have some meat in my pouch. In fact, it is enough to feed a hundred people with this, but I decided not to tell them. After all, I am not in need of gil since I have an absurd amount of it."
The appraiser nodded and then began arranging the materials and put them all one by one on a specific bag.
I then followed the receptionist as she went back to the main room.
After returning back to the counter, she then went to another counter on the back, gathering the money as she looked at the note.
As I waited, I felt that many of them were looking at me, especially the two groups from behind. Then, among them, someone was calling for me.
"Hey, you!"
"Hmm?"
When I turned around, I saw six children who were the same age as me. They are from before.
The one called out to me seems to be a brown haired boy who is the same height as me.
"Are you also an orphan?"
"Excuse me?"
"Hey, Derek. That is not something that you should ask."
A girl with a black ponytail admonished him. The brown haired boy who seems to be Derek looked at her confused.
"I am just asking him if he was an oprhan or not."
"She's right, you idiot! What if he is not?"
A black long-haired boy also admonished him.
"Is there something wrong with that, Joe?"
"That could offend him, you know? If he had a family, it is considered as an insult since it is the same as saying that you look like you don't have parents."
Said the braided chestnut haired girl.
"Is that really an insult, Maya?"
Asked the brown short-haired girl.
"Now, now, guys! Sorry about that. They are just curious about someone who's the same age as them."
"Is that so..."
"Yes. I'm Gus, and he is Wesley."
"Hi."
"We are both a fifth ranked hunter. We are some sort of guardian of these children."
The two adults introduce themselves. Gus is wearing leather armor with shield and spear while Wesley wears a leather vest with a sword. Gus beckoned to the children to introduce themselves.
"I'm Derek."
"Sorry about him. I'm Paprika."
"Yo, Joe here."
"Hi, I'm Maya."
"And I'm Amy!. Little sister of Derek."
After introducing themselves, I also did the same.
"I'm Garwyr, Second ranker."
As I introduce myself, Gus and Wesley, alongside the other hunters inside the association, have their eyes wide open.
"No way, you're a second ranker?!"
"So young too..."
They said with a shocked face. The children seemed confused, so they looked at each other and asked them both.
"Umm, Gus? What was that about?"
"Oh, right. You guys are still registering to be a hunter, so you are not informed yet. Then let me tell you why."
