Thanatos, Morgana, and the vampire woman were now sitting in her office. It was a huge office, with many bookshelves and paintings. Thanatos sat on a huge brown leather seat. The seat was comfortable; it had the perfect height for Thanatos.
However, Morgana had a not-so-good seat; she had only a simple wooden stool. The stool was old and hard, and sitting on it hurt, but the vampire did not care about that. She sat there with a wine glass filled with blood and looked at Thanatos.
"From where do you know my mother?" The woman awakened from her thoughts.
"I think it was 1900 years ago. Your mother and I met. She hunted a powerful dreadharvester together with her newlywed husband."
Thanatos listened to the story and focused his whole mind; he always liked learning new things about his parents. The best would be if he got to know more about this grandfather, but that chance was rare. Everybody who once knew him is now dead or so old and powerful that it is not easy to meet with them, and his grandfather said that he would only tell him things about his past when he would be able to land a hit on him that caused damage. Not something like what he did during his ceremony. Real damage, where he would suffer and have to fight. But that would take thousands of years.
"They thought with all of their strength, but it was impossible. Fighting the dreadharvester and letting the surroundings think and think, and then one time, the dreadharvester would have killed me. Your mother saved me back then."
The woman's voice was warm; there was no way she could lie. Thanatos felt the gratitude the woman in front of him had for his mother.
"But because of that, the dreadharvester was able to flee, and in order to repay her, I decided to hunt him with them, and after a little while we managed to kill him. I and your mother became good friends back then."
Thanatos could not imagine his parents struggling with a dreadharvester; he trained a lot with his mother and all the times he hit her. It was her decision to get hit.
"We used to meet very often. But at some point, I had a lot to do, and she was pregnant with you. It was impossible for her to leave Memento. You should know what can happen when a pregnant female grim reaper comes into the mortal world."
Thanatos knew it, and she was right. A grim reaper is the personification of death; the grim reaper embryo would at some point in the pregnancy, emit a so-called death aura. This aura was harmless to the mother but deadly to other beings. It is a power only possessed by the grim reaper, and an embryo would subconsciously radiate it. That's why the pregnant female grim reaper was also forbidden to leave Memento.
"But she told me much about her son, and now he is standing in front of me. But why are you here? I hope I did not interrupt you on a mission."
The female vampire was a little anxious that she would now have interrupted Thanatos's mission.
"Well, a little bit, but now let's get to work."
Morgana was angry while her partner was sitting in a big, comfortable leather seat and talking to his mother's friend. She had to sit there and watch them.
"Do you know anything about Aiko Yamamoto? Where she could be, or how she looks?"
Morgana did not want to tell the woman in front of her about the Shinigami clan.
Such information should not be circulating in a place like this. She didn't fully trust her, and she saw Thanatos the same way. She had a very good sense when it came to such things.
And she was right. Thanatos wasn't a man who would trust anyone easily. That's why he had to hide certain information from her. He could call his mother at any time and ask if she really knew this woman.
"Oh, the girl who got kidnapped by a Shinigami. Yes, I know a few things."
The woman said this with her finger placed on her cheek.
"She got kidnapped by the Shinigami clan."
Thanatos wanted to play dump, and he wouldn't fall for a trick like, Oh, you gave me right now the information I needed, and now I can kill both of you. Morgana noticed this and was now relieved that she had such a smart partner. The woman said the information the two of them already had. Thanatos and Morgana played as if they had never heard about this information, and then they finally hit a point where the new information came right in their direction.
"I don't know why she got kidnapped, but I can give you a few more things I know."
The woman drank a sip of her blood and then continued, "According to my information, this Aiko Yamamoto was born with some kind of supernatural power. I do not know, but I think it has something to do with exorcism."
After hearing that, Thanatos leaned forward and looked the woman in front of him directly in her blood-red eyes. His eyes screamed about information; if the information went down right now, he would freak out.
"Why do you think she had exorcism powers and not the powers of a witch or something else?"
Morgana was now the one who spoke. There were many opportunities for a human to achieve supernatural powers, and for many of them, you had to be born with them.
"I have the information that, since about five years, this Aiko Yamamoto has visited a temple deep in a mountain." The female vampire said.
"And what mountain is that?" Thanatos asked with an interested gaze.
"The Chō shizen no yama, The supernatural mountain, and on this mountain is a shrine, and in this shrine exorcists used to be trained, and since no witch would dare to set foot on this mountain, I guess she's an exorcist.
Thanatos had heard enough; he gave Morgana a prearranged sign, and the two left. At the last moment, Thanatos asked for the name of the female vampire, and he got the answer.
"My name is Irina."
After hearing that, he left with Morgana.
