Chapter 7: New Adventurer Jin Part 2
"Well, that's true. With such strength, we can feel secure in accepting requests for subjugation. Actually, with your versatility, you could handle any request..."
As she gazed at the paper that listed my status, Fine-san spoke.
"Jin-san, may I ask if there's anything you're not good at?"
"Not good at anything in particular. However, since I don't have any experience with people, it might be difficult for me to handle requests for catching thieves and the like."
"I see... Well, it's natural for a 12-year-old like Jin-san to have no experience with people. Sometimes there are adventurers who are afraid of blood, so we assign them collection requests instead. That's why I wanted to ask you in advance."
Certainly, everyone has things they're not good at. In this world of "partners," there is apparently some pre-investigation done.
"Um, how can I train for dealing with people?"
"Well... You could ask an adventurer you know to train you or join a party with them to get used to catching thieves and such. That's a common way to do it."
"...I only left my house three days ago, so I don't know any adventurers."
In fact, Jin didn't have a single "friend" as a character. His fiancée existed in name only, or rather, as part of the story, but Jin had been living a life where he could hardly leave the house. As a result, he had only met his fiancée a few times, and there were more people who didn't even know he existed as a child.
"In that case, can we arrange something for you? We might be able to introduce you to an adventurer who is focusing on training beginners."
"Oh, if that's possible, please do. If I can get even just experience in fighting people, it would be a big help."
"Understood. We'll let you know if we can make arrangements. Is there anything else you need?"
When Fine-san asked me that, I said there wasn't anything for now and asked her to prepare today's requests. Then Fine-san brought me a request that was chosen based on my status. The reward for that request was quite good, so I decided to accept it.
"Having a partner registration was definitely the right decision... it would have been impossible for a normal rookie adventurer to receive a subjugation request this early on."
The request that was introduced to me was to subjugate five orcs inhabiting near the royal capital.
As someone who already had experience with subjugation requests thanks to a request from the innkeeper, I swiftly defeated the orcs and returned to the capital.
"Huh, already finished?!"
Perhaps because it had only been about an hour since we left, Fiine-san looked surprised.
"To be honest, I thought you were strong based on your stats, but I didn't think you'd finish this quickly... It's difficult enough just finding the orcs."
"Well, I studied a lot to become an adventurer."
Of course, that was a lie, and I had used my knowledge from games. During my gaming days, the protagonist also acted as an adventurer, so the major habitats of monsters were roughly in my head.
Well, two days ago, I had hunted too much and it was a bit difficult to find them, but I was still able to quickly find the requested orcs.
After that, I came to the underground area again yesterday to have the monster materials dismantled and appraised.
"Are you from yesterday?"
Due to the issue of moving the materials, I accompanied them and the female worker who had appraised the medicinal herbs yesterday looked at me and tilted her head while asking.
"I was here yesterday. My name is Jin."
"Ah, nice to meet you. I'm Rene, the leader of this workshop."
Thinking that I would be relying on them from now on, I greeted them and they returned the greeting.
After exchanging greetings, I explained why I had come today and presented them with the five orc corpses.
"Wow, did a beginner take down orcs in such a clean manner? Amazing!"
One of the workers said that, and the other workers commented on the impressive state of the orcs.
"Rene-san, I would like you to appraise and dismantle these orcs."
"Understood. However, since they're in such good condition, I'll have to be more careful than usual, so it might take a little longer."
"Oh, I see. Jin-san, are you okay with the extra time?"
"I'm fine. If it's okay with you, could I come get the reward tomorrow? I don't have any plans for the rest of the day."
When I made that proposal, Fiine-san said "That would be helpful" and we decided to receive the reward tomorrow.
