Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Chapter 13: Effective Utilization of Knowledge, Part 1

The next day, I left the inn a little early to ensure I wouldn't be late for our appointment.

"Oh, Jin-kun, good morning!"

"Why are you already here...?"

There were still about 30 minutes until the appointed time. Yet Chloe was already waiting at the meeting place.

"Hehe, I was looking forward to our first request with you, Jin-kun, so I woke up early in the morning."

"So, that's why you came early... If I hadn't arrived early, we would have had to wait another 30 minutes."

I said with a sigh to Chloe, who was smiling. Then we left the capital and headed to the location of the request.

This time, the request was a subjugation mission, and we were asked to bring back the monsters in the cleanest condition possible.

"Chloe, are there any nearby?"

"Just a moment..."

Since Chloe in the game had a higher scouting ability than Jin, I decided to leave the monster discovery to her.

After a while, Chloe reported, "They're over there," and we started moving while in a combat stance.

- !

In the location we moved to, there were monsters mentioned in the request. A group of five orcs were having a meal, completely unaware of us.

If they're not on guard, it should be easy.

Thinking that, I cast a spell from where I stood, aiming for the leader of the monsters.

"Hmm? One of them endured my magic."

"...Jin-kun, that might be a higher-ranked 'High Orc.'"

"If it's a higher-ranked one, then the magic from earlier won't work."

I thought that if the magic was too strong, it would damage the materials, so I used magic with just enough power to sever the orc's head.

- !

The High Orc, whose comrade was killed, spotted Jin and Chloe, let out a roar, and charged towards us.

"Chloe, I'll handle that guy, so you can escape."

"Huh? It's a High Orc, right?! Even magic didn't work. Are you sure you'll be okay?"

"It's fine. The magic I used earlier was held back."

Assuring Chloe, who seemed flustered, I cast a [Wind Magic] and blew away the High Orc.

The High Orc was surprised by being blown away.

Taking advantage of that, I circled behind the High Orc and, with my sword enhanced by magic, placed the tip against its neck, then cut off its head.

"Guwaaah!"

High Orc screamed and met his demise.

As I thought, the character 'Jin' is definitely overpowered. I could clearly feel it in that battle.

Since being reincarnated in this world, I've mostly used 'magic' as my primary means of fighting.

While I do have the skill [Swordsmanship: 3], I haven't actually learned how to wield a sword.

Yet, I was able to defeat High Orc simply by using a sword enhanced with magic.

"J-Jin-kun!"

Chloe, who witnessed High Orc's defeat, ran over to me from a distance.

"I thought you said you were going to fight with magic, but I was surprised to see you start using a sword!"

"Sorry, sorry. I just wanted to try fighting with a sword for a bit."

Indeed, during the battle just now, when I sent High Orc flying, I thought, "I want to try using a sword," and engaged in combat with it.

As a result, I easily subjugated the High Orc.

Once again, I realized how incredible the abilities of the character 'Jin' are.

"We talked about you being able to use a sword yesterday, but I wondered how proficient you were. I never imagined you could take down a High Orc by yourself. That's amazing!"

Chloe said that and turned her gaze toward the fallen High Orc.

"It's a clean cut. Jin-kun, your swordsmanship is amazing, even though your magic is incredible too..."

"If it's at this level, Chloe, you could do it too, right? You have [Swordsmanship: 3] after all."

"...High Orcs are known to be tough monsters, you know? Your skill level may be high, but without enough strength, you wouldn't be able to defeat them so cleanly."

"Come to think of it, it was a formidable monster, huh..."

As I said that, Chloe let out a sigh, looking exasperated.
