Volume 5, Chapter 5: Duke Freitas
After the guards left, I quickly packed my belongings.
If it's that idiot under the First Queen, Uraka-sama, things might go haywire like this.
Normally, if you were a high noble, you would think about it afterwards. Such education is usually reserved for daughters who are married off to the king.
This whole situation is just too unthinkable.
In other words, we have no idea how things will unfold.
Well, thanks to the guards' good judgment, they understood the situation properly. But it was a precarious situation, so if something else happens, it will be a disaster.
Well, on the other hand, because they have that level of judgment, there will be benefits in dealing with the guards in the future.
Even though they hit me with their batons.
But that's not the main issue.
It's about the Yamato bloodline, so to speak.
My little sister Mitsuki and Aoi are dangerous.
They're great danger.
They were seriously planning to turn Taila into ashes.
If I were the King of Yamato, it would be a chance for me to owe them a favor, and they would come at me with their entire fleet.
Honestly, I can easily turn them into ashes with a Seaserpent, Wyvern, and Leviathan.
It's too extreme.
Even if I changed jobs to become a merchant, if I say I turned Taila into ashes, my future as a merchant would disappear without a doubt.
This won't do.
If anything, Mitsuki and Aoi are more dangerous.
In a hurry, I packed my belongings and handed a letter of introduction from Kazanzakis-san to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Patrida. I also obtained the entry permit for Taila, so I plan to leave Taila quickly.
"Good, so you were released."
There's a knight-like person with several dozen knights accompanying him right in front of me.
Tall and noble-looking, he seems to have been raised in a good environment.
He's slightly older than me, I suppose?
And he's handsome too.
I don't really want to get along with a guy like him.
"Ah, no..."
I hesitated on how to respond, and Murasaki nodded happily beside me.
"I have come under the orders of His Majesty, King, and the First Queen, Lady Uraka. I am Martin de Freitas."
"Ah, um, I'm a merchant named Kogorou."
I had no choice but to greet him.
"Brother, he is Duke Freitas, the closest aide to the King," Apolito whispered.
"Thank you very much for your courtesy. We have been released safely, so please convey our regards to the King. We are in a hurry, so if you'll excuse us..."
I bowed deeply and tried to leave this place somehow.
Uh-oh.
What could it be?
My solitary instincts were sounding the alarm.
"Please wait. I have heard that you are going to marry Lord Kazanzakis' granddaughter. If we return like this, it will affect the dignity of King Sanshu the First."
"What should we do, brother?" Apolito asked me in a low voice.
"I have a really bad feeling about this," I replied quietly.
"Actually, I feel the same way."
Apolito also had an uneasy expression.
"Please wait. This is not to harm you. His Majesty and the First Queen are offering their apologies. If there is any mistake, I will do everything in my power to stop it. Furthermore, I have been instructed to accompany you with the Foreign Affairs Department of Patrida..."
Duke Freitas was desperate.
I understood that it could become a diplomatic issue, and I understood that.
I understood, but...
Responding to this could change my life.
What should I do?
"Well, I'm not worried about my safety... Anyway, I'm in a hurry."
I answered.
"Brother," Apolito asked me in a low voice.
"I have a feeling that it's dangerous in a different sense. Even though I'm not using the skill of detection."
"I see. Actually, I feel the same way, brother. I have a bad feeling about it."
"Aoi-sama. Aoi-sama, when you went to Lord Kazanzakis' mansion as His Majesty's attendant, you met him, didn't you? Could you please convince Kogorou-dono for the sake of this tailor?"
"Huh? I met him?"
When I asked, Aoi nodded.
I couldn't refuse this, could I?
"...Understood. Let's go together. However, we have to go to Yamato immediately."
Reluctantly, I answered.
"Thank you very much. I appreciate it," Duke Freitas said with joy.
But I can't shake off this really bad feeling.
What should I do?
