Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Lightning retribution!

Justin clicked on accept and the potion, as well as the elixir got stored away in his inventory.

"Sally, can you explain the random stat points?" He asked and she clapped her hands together in delight.

"Of course!" She said. "The random stat points can be added to increase your existing stats. And the higher the stat, the stronger you get physically. Wherever you choose to spend your stats on is definitely your choice!" She explained and he nodded.

"What about that elixir and the fatigue relief?"

"I believe the fatigue relief is for times like now, after exercising that is. But you can also choose to store it in the inventory for future use!"

"Heck no! I'm beat!" He said and opened the inventory. He found them both and tapped on the fatigue relief potion.

It immediately materialised in his hand.

"This thing feels like magic." He said in surprise.

"But it isn't magic. It's the system's function made by the god of…!" Sally smiled even if weirdly, her words faded.

It was as if the gods didn't want him knowing who did what.

"So, how would you like to spend your stat points?" She asked.

"Hm, let's see!" He took a look at his stats and thought for a while before he started tapping a few. "I think this is good!"

{STATS}

[Strength: 2+8]

[Speed: 6+1]

[Stamina: 5]

[Agility: 7+1]

[Defence: 2]

[Resistance: 10]

"Don't you think you should've increased your defence since it's so low? Strength matters but defence also has its specks." Sally pointed out.

"Well, I own the stats and I get to choose, so I say strength is the most important right now." He smugly stated.

"Well, if you say so!"

"So, about this inventory, it allows me to put anything in it, right?" He asked as he wore his shirt.

"Um, yes! To a certain amount, depending on your level."

"Tch, that's no fun!" He said but there was a vivid smirk on his chin.

"You, you're not planning on stealing anything and keeping it in the inventory, are you?" She asked, panicked but he shrugged.

"You said it, not me!" He looked at the fatigue relief potion in his hand and drank it.

In an instant, his fatigue disappeared, as well as his sore joints and numb muscles.

"Wow, this thing actually works! It's as if I didn't even do anything!" He was amazed.

"Glad you like it! You will feel great working for the gods and have a lot of good things!" She stated.

"Yeah, yeah! I'll be the judge of that!" He started leaving the simulation and Sally waved. "Right now, I'm starving!"

'I don't know much about this so-called system, yet I'm already doing daily quests that are breaking my bones!' He thought as he walked out of the blue space and found himself in the same position he was when he entered the simulation.

It was as if he never left that position. But not paying heed to this, he continued his thoughts.

'If I ask the system about it, it won't tell me anything. It's frustrating that I have to do these things without knowing what I'm aiming for but I kinda like the rewards.'

Justin stopped walking and noticed something different. He looked up, the sky was clear and the sun was shining brightly.

"The sun's back?" He asked and felt something. "Somehow, I've got an inkling feeling about this!" He tucked his hands in his pocket and strode the streets.

The people were very familiar with him and they knew he would take anything his hands landed on so, each time they saw him, they guarded their sales closely.

"That's harsh!" Justin exclaimed seeing all the glaring eyes he got from the stall owners on the street. "But it's still not going to stop me from taking what I want."

The city guards hardly ever visited that part of the city and it made stealing and pickpocketing so much easier.

It's a really bad place to do business but the common folks had no choice. They couldn't afford the land in the aristocrat's district even if they worked for their whole lives.

Putting up with the common thieves was already bad enough, they had to put up with Justin as well. He was a total scum and they all knew that.

"Time to loot!" Justin said and kicked up a wooden stick from the side. It caught it in his hand and posed like a bandit.

But before he could make a move or say a word, a system notification popped up in front of him.

(Warning! System prohibition! The gods do not approve violence against the common folks!)

"What the… ?"

(If user decides to ignore the prohibition order, he will trigger the system's punishment)

Justin's eyes twitched.

This again? Who were they trying to fool? He was in the capital, there was no way a beast raid would happen.

"You're messing with me, aren't ya? I don't believe you will cause a beast raid and harm the 'common folks' the gods so much love." He pointed out and grinned but the system had its own thoughts on this.

(Are you going to ignore the system's warning or adhere?)

"Of course I'm gonna ignore. Afterall, I'm not called a scum for nothing. Scums don't care about rules and prohibition orders!" He laughed out loud and approached a bread stall.

He pointed his stick at the already trembling bread seller.

"Hand over your bread and no one gets hurt!" He threatened and immediately, the system rang.

(Ding! System punishment triggered!) But there was nothing.

'I knew it! It's just bluffing so I'll get scared!' he thought with a cheeky grin but then, another notification popped up.

(Lightning retribution)

Seeing this, his face froze, 'What?'

All of a sudden, lightning from nowhere appeared and struck him down. His entire body was burnt out and the people stared in astonishment.

'I did not see that coming!' he thought then someone announced,

"The scum has been struck by lightning. Everyone, let's beat him up as payback while he's still down."

The angry stall owners ganged up and approached him.

'Shit, this is bad!' Justin thought. He couldn't move his body. What was he supposed to do at a time like this?

He immediately remembered the reviving elixir and called out to the system.

'System, open inventory!' The inventory opened before him and he used all his might to stick out his tongue and tapped the elixir.

Once he had taken it, he waited but there was no effect. He was still burnt out and unable to move.

'What happened? Why isn't it working?' he thought and then a notification popped up.

(Ding! System punishment cannot be rectified immediately. User must wait for at least half an hour!)

'Oh, shit!'
