Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: We'll eat well and work hard so we can repay you in the future!

Justin clicked on 'ACCEPT' and used his quick reflexes to save the girl just before the carriage hit her.

He watched as the carriage sped past without stopping to see if it had hurt anyone on the streets.

"Those nobles are really a pain in the ass!" Justin exclaimed and felt the little girl tremble in his arms. "Hey, are you okay? I hope you're not dying on me!" He said and touched her forehead. She was seriously burning up. "Whoa, you've got such a high fever. What are you doing in the middle of the streets?" He asked, not because he was concerned but because it was a foolish thing to do.

"My… my sister needs… medicine!"

"And you don't? Look at you, you're the one getting medicine when you should be the one waiting to be treated!" He said but he instantly recognized her clothes. They were ragged and dirty.

It only made sense that she would come out to find medicine even in such a state.

"Ah, you're from the slums, aren't ya?" He asked with no intention of getting an answer. 'Jeez, I'm no guardian angel but seeing her so sick is making me feel bad. Should I help her?' he thought about it. 'The system only said to save her from the carriage, right?'

(What?! Don't tell me you're going to leave her as she is!)

The system flared and he felt the blazing rage coming from it.

"Relax, I was just joking!" He said. "Hey," he shook the little girl but there was no response. "What, are you dead already?"

"Cold!" She shivered.

"Argh, this is such a headache."

He carried her out of there and headed straight for the slums.

"Where's your sister?" He asked and she weakly pointed in the direction. It was a dark space with nothing but tattered rags on the floor.

Her sister had a worn out newspaper covering her in the place of a blanket but even that was nowhere warm. She was shivering so bad that Justin had cause to believe that the rain that fell a few days back was the reason they were so sick. Afterall, they didn't have a roof over their head.

"I'll save your sister first." He said and put the red haired girl down. "System, do I have anything that can be of help?" He asked and the system store opened in front of him.

(Gods' Healing Water: It can heal any form of disease and detoxify all types of poison!)

"That sounds okay!" He checked the price and almost fainted. "20,000 points for just a bottle of that? Are you kidding me? I don't even have up to 5000 points!"

(It's a god level healing water. And besides, that's just the discount price!)

"You… " he took a deep breath. "Is there anything else I can buy that won't use up all the points I've gathered up so far?"

(User has yet to claim rewards for saving the red haired girl from the carriage!)

The system announced.

"That's right! Let me see if there's anything in the rewards I can use." He clicked accept reward and the rewards opened up before him in a table formation.

{REWARDS: Three drops of gods' healing water, dragon's descendant, 500 points and +7 experience points}

"Oh, would you look at that, I got the gods healing water and I didn't even spend a single point." He scoffed. "I knew you were messing with me!"

He accepted the rewards and gave a drop each to the girls. He still had a drop left, which he kept for future purposes.

"I can't let this expensive opportunity go to waste!" He said to himself and noticed the other rewards. "What's this dragon descendant? I thought dragons didn't meddle with the things of the world so why…" his question was cut short when the girls started waking up.

"What… ?"

"Good that you're awake!" Justin said and touched their heads. "Your fever's gone as well!" He got up. "Well, I'll be going now since you two are all better!" He said but the younger one held onto his shirt.

"Wait, I… I haven't thanked you yet!" She said a bit shyly.

"There's no need. I didn't do it because I wanted you to thank me or anything!" He said. 'I was actually forced to but it turned out good!' he thought in agony..

"Then, let us repay you!" The elder sister said.

"I already said I don't… " he looked into their eyes and noticed they were the same girls he had given his stale bread to the other day. "Well, I'll be damned! I seem to be helping these girls really often these days." He muttered to himself.

"Please, let us repay you!" The younger one repeated.

"These kids, argh! It's not like you have anything to use to repay me." He scratched his head. "Fine! You can repay me but on one condition!" Their faces lit up hearing they could repay him. "You two will have to grow more and properly too. You'll have to look more healthy and filled with flesh. I don't want to labour anyone that looks like they could get blown by the wind!"

They stared at him blankly for a while, unable to understand the words he just said.

"In other words, grow up!" He flicked their heads.

"We will!" They both chorused cheerfully and it made Justin wonder. Was it so good to be indebted to someone? No, it was an awful feeling. So, why were they so happy?

They looked so pitiful yet their eyes were filled with life. It wasn't like that night where he could only see hunger and greed in their eyes.

Somehow, he felt good about the improvement. Maybe he should do more!

"Ahem!" He cleared his throat. "In any case, I know there's nothing to eat here in the slums so, from now on, I'll be the one getting you food, okay?"

"Oh no, you've already helped us a lot!" The elder one said with the younger one nodding.

"Then how do you plan to get food when you're so small? Just forget it, I'll get you food. You can pay me back when you're older and full of life!" He bargained and the girls embarrassingly accepted.

"Alright!"

"We'll eat well and work hard so we can pay you in the future!" They were so determined that he almost found them cute.

"That alright!" He nodded and decided to leave already when the younger held his shirt again.

"Thank you!" She said, "For saving me from the carriage!"

"You almost got hit by a carriage?" The elder asked, alarmed. "Was it because you wanted to get me medicine?" She checked the younger girl's face properly.

"I'm okay! The mister saved me!"

The elder one turned to Justin and bowed her head to the ground.

"I cannot thank you enough. If anything had happened to Alexia, I don't know what I would've done! Thank you!"

"Alexia?"

"Yes, my sister's name is Alexia and I am Alicia!" The elder, Alicia, introduced.

'What nice names?!' Justin thought. "Anyway, it was no big deal." He turned to leave. "I'll come back later so just don't go anywhere!" He said and left.
