Chapter 22 - A Facade

This was all too much for him!

'She' was too much for him!

Barely 2 months and his wall was gradually weakening against he.

Barely 2 months and he was crazily lasting after her.

What was wrong with him?!

Usually, he would find himself another girl to satisfy his sexual cravings, but after being with her, no other girl will be able to quench that raging desire in him.

It wasn't just a sexual desire, but a desire to have her in every possible way he could.

He glanced at her and found her already sleeping.

He smiled and brushed her hair our of her face.

"What are you doing to me, love? I'm losing my mind and it's all because of you" he sighed while caressing her cheeks.

He bent down and placed a kiss on her forehead.

That was what his limits could restrict him to do.

*************************

A few hours later...

It was night. The chirps and croaks of the animals nearby filled their ears in a peaceful tune.

She was lying on his chest, listening to the perfect rhythm of his heart while he played with her hair as they stared up at the clear yet dark velvet sky, adorned with the shimmers of a thousand twinkly lights, and a thin crescent moon at the far end.

"This is lovely" Naya whispered under her breath, but he heard it anyway.

"You're even lovelier" Don replied huskily.

She had always dreamt of a date like this; One somewhere quiet, only the two of them under the beautiful night sky. It was to good to be true!

Seriously though,

It was literally too good to be true...

The plane jerked and her eyes flew open when she almost slid off her seat if not for his strong hand holding her.

"You woke up right in time. The jet is about to land" he informed and helped her to sit up right.

She looked outside the small window and saw the red setting sun casting its paint glow on the clouds around.

That dream felt so real.

She peered in his direction and heated up immediately.

She couldn't believe she was dreaming of going out on a romantic date with him.

'Congratulazioni, Naya! Thanks to your wild imagination, things will now be terrifically awkward between you and him'

The journey finally came to an end as the wheels of the jet screeched across the runway.

They were ushered out of the plane and into an already waiting car that drove them out of the airport.

"Have you ever been in LA?" she asked, staring out of the window.

"A couple of times. One of my companies is in Downtown" he replied. "What about you?"

"I've come here a lot of times. Either to see someone, a vacation, or on a mission for my dad" she replied flatly.

His phone buzzed and he picked it up.

It was from the lab scientist he hired to analyse the chewies he found in Naya's drawer.

He had a nagging feeling those were more than candies so he gave one of the chewies to a lab for careful analysis and kept the rest with him.

The message read:

"Good day sir, the candy you gave me to test isn't a normal candy. It's laced with sedative-hypnotics"

His eyebrows knitted together.

"It contains cherry flavouring and extracts, red food colouring, gelatin, sugar, benzodiapenes, and chlordiazepoxide" it continued.

"The drug is used for instant yet short-termed relief from insomnia, anxiety, temper/anger, and agitation from withdrawal of alcohol. It can be really helpful, but after a long-term use, the person taking it usually suffers from forgetfulness, fatigue/dizziness and an addiction to the drug".

The records Andrew had gathered about her shown she definitely didn't drink or suffer from alcohol withdrawal symptoms, and she didn't look like someone who suffered from anxiety, insomnia, or short temperance.

Probably why it's said to never judge a book by its cover.

There was a different person under the facade of her perfect outward demeanor, and he was going to uncover it.
