Chereads / Mafia's Deadly Princess / Chapter 25 - Dreadful Daze

Chapter 25 - Dreadful Daze

"Anaya!" a whisper blew past her ear. She turned to the direction in which it came from but saw no one.

"Anaya!" she heard it again and this time louder.

"Anaya!" she listened carefully and thought it sounded like the blonde twins.

She shrank back in fear, and began shaking.

"Anaya!"

"Leave me alone!"

"Anaya!"

"Smettila{Stop it}!" Tears began dripping out of her eye.

She blocked her ears and hid her face in her knees, but that didn't stop the voices. She could hear them from every angle around her, and she was an inch close to losing her mind.

"Anaya!"

"Anaya!"

"Anaya!"

"Smettila e basta! Smettila! {Just stop! Stop it!}"

"Anaya?" a soft yet deep voice snapped her out of the trance. She turned to see a large hand on her shoulder. She looked up and found Don staring at her with worried and confused eyes.

She was too engulfed in that hell of a trance to have even heard him come in.

"Don!" she mumbled with relief and hugged him tightly as more tears continued to flow out of her eyes.

"Tyler!" he corrected. "I told you that Don was too formal" he said humorously, but she didn't react in anyway instead continued crying on his shoulder until her tears left a dark patch on his shirt.

"Sorry. I ruined your shirt" she apologised and wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"It's okay" he replied, took out his handkerchief and wiped the remnant tears on her cheeks and jaw.

"You were saying strange things, what happened?" he asked after she had calmed down.

She shook her head and pulled her knees back up to her face again.

Sleep was waving not too far away, but she dreaded falling asleep right now.

If her pills were with her, it would have made it easier.

"Don't want to talk about it?" "I'm fine. I... I just need to get something from a pharmacy, could you give me a ride or lend me your car keys?" she asked hesitantly. The last thing she needed was for him to start suspecting her.

"Right now?" She nodded. "It's very important" "OK, tell me what it is and I will go get it for you. It's too late for you to go out now"

"No. You won't know it even if I tell you. I have to buy it by myself" she tried to mask her nervousness, but clearly that wasn't working.

His suspicious gaze was so sharp that she felt like he already knew why she wanted to go to the pharmacy.

"You need to rest, love. It's late, get to bed" he said and tried helping her up, but she jerked away.

"No! You don't understand. I can't sleep. I need to get to a pharmacy, now!" she said in a visibly desperate tone but he wasn't moved in anyway.

'Why is he looking at me as though he already knows what is going on with me?'

He stood up without a word to a cupboard near the fireplace and brought out something.

He bent beside her and held it in front of her.

She froze in shock.

"I suppose this is the reason why you want to go to a pharmacy so terribly"

She instinctively reached out for it, but he took it back.

How could he have done that to her?

"Do... Tyler, that's mine. Give it back!" she ordered firmly and tried grabbing it, but he dodged.

He was pissing her off now. "What is this?" "That's none of your business"

"It is my business. You are my wife, remember? I won't sit back and allow you continue taking something that is affecting your health badly"

"You aren't allowed to make decisions like that for me. It's my body and I decide what I do to it. Your approval isn't needed" she lashed angrily.

He clenched his jaw and went back towards the fireplace.

"W-What are you doing?" he didn't answer.

He removed the lid from the container and threw it aside. After throwing her a knowing glance, he turned the contents of the container into the fire along with the container.

"No!" she yelled and ran towards the fire but it was too late. The drug and the container were already melting in the flames.

Tears of anger streamed down her eyes as she turned to him. He wasn't in the slightest bit remorseful of what he did.

"You jerk!" she spat and hit his chest. "How could you? Do you even know how this will affect me?"

"I'm trying to help you. Those drugs may be helping you with whatever reason you are taking them for, but they are also affecting you badly, and now you are addicted to them" he brought his hand towards her face but she slapped them away.

"Don't touch me! I never asked for your help so why are you doing this, why meddle in my business when you have no idea of what's wrong with me?" she asked amidst tears.

His face softened and so did his heart as her tears continued dripping off her face.

He hesitantly pulled her into an embrace of which she didn't struggle from.

Why did he do that?

Who knows.

"Look, don't stress yourself further you'll end up sick. It's late, so get some rest and we can continue talking about this in the morning" he suggested.

"You still don't understand" she said in a hushed but audible tone.

"Without those pills, I can't sleep. I won't be able to, they will come back and do something terrible to me again"

"What is she talking about?" he asked himself internally.

They were the only ones in the house, and no one could actually enter the house that easily. And even if they did, she was a trained fighter and could capably defend herself.

He couldn't even believe she was scared of some unknown people hurting her when she was her father's most powerful weapon.

And how did those pills affect her.

"No one can hurt you, love. Anyone who dares to do so is a dead man. I'll protect you. Those drugs will only make things worse"

"You can't. Nessuno può{No one can}. They will keep bullying me..."

"No one can bully you, besides we are all alone..."

"... disturbing me..."

"Listen, love, whoever that is they can't... "

"They won't allow me to live my life peacefully..."

"Are you listening, love?"

"Even after I got rid of them, they still found a way to continue tormenting me"

He came to the realisation that she was in a dreadful daze.

Never in his wildest imagination would he have thought that she could be so scared and shaken up.

Whatever she was talking about must have been hell for her.

He picked her up bridal style and ascended up the stairs.

She clung to his shirt firmly whilst mumbling other things with glistering tears still streaming down her face.

He entered his room and gently placed her on the bed.

He draped the blanket over her and stroked her head gently, whispering soothing words to her until she calmed down.

"Please don't go, stay with me. I don't want them to come back. They will do even worse things to me" She pleaded, and he could feel her hands trembling in fear around his.

He smiled softly and lay on the bed beside her. He drew her closer to him by her waist and cuddled her.

She was still sniffling, still shaking, he could feel her heart beating massively fast against his chest, and a few tears soaking into his shirt.

"You're safe with me. I won't let them near you" he promised in a hushed tone and placed a kiss on the crown of her head.

Gradually, her sniffles died down, so did the shaking and fast heartbeats. The only thing that filled the room was her light snores.

He stayed awake watching her. Nothing but affection and care in his eyes. The only urge he felt then was to protect and care for her in every way possible.

He couldn't bear to see her cry. Each tear that fell out of her eye were like a crack on his heart.

It took all the self control in him not to have given her her pills back after witnessing how hard she cried for them.

Strange how the ruthless American mafia boss went weak in a second at the first sight of her tears.

Now he was disappointed in himself. Emotions were going to be a stumbling block in his path, and they would do nothing other than slow him down or distract him on his way to ultimate success.

He wasn't going to allow her do that to him.

Was he?
