Chereads / A Slow And Painful Death To My Husband / Chapter 14 - It Is Her Fault

Chapter 14 - It Is Her Fault

Mike stared at the empty finger with a sigh. He loved the rubies cut in the shape of stars. Though the design was a bit feminine, it was very expensive.

He wanted to flaunt it for a long time but it was already gone.

"But it will return soon." his eyes flickered with an evil glint and he laughed.

Only a fool would think that he would give up on his treasure. No! He would only wait till the girl left the palace before spreading the rumor that his ring was stolen.

Then he would get rid of her for good. Keeping her alive was dangerous.

He walked hurriedly when he noticed the confused gazes of other servants.

Though they all bowed to him, he was not able to enjoy the respect he was receiving because their heads tilted back to check where he was coming from.

Perhaps they all knew that his room was allotted to a new maid. He felt heat rising in his skin as he took a deep breath and fastened his speed.

Their room was already opened. Maids were coming and going out of the room. He noticed a maid holding a bloodstained bedsheet and walking out with a blushing face.

His eyes twinkled. So he had only left after doing that with her! Thank goodness! He was worried that he had given his virginity to an ugly woman.

With a relieved smile and joy, he walked in only to see her wearing a covered dress. It was a turtleneck dress that showed nothing of her body. She was sitting in front of a mirror while a maid was combing her hair.

Lia finally noticed his presence and raised a brow.

"Where were you?" she asked with a frown. Anger settled in her eyes when he gulped.

How much and how far did she know? What if the maids had informed her? What if she had already guessed everything? Lia was a smart woman. Her only weakness was she was too kind and full of justice, things that did not exist in the real world.

"I... I did not want to disturb your sleep," he muttered, sure that she must be sleeping or she would have stopped him from leaving or at least followed him to see where he was going.

Then this accident would not have happened. His eyes grew cold. That was right! If she would have stopped him, it would not have happened. It was all her mistake that he was facing this predicament and now she dared to question him?

His chest tightened as he tried to hide the glare when she turned to look at him.

"But where did you go?" she asked again, her head tilted to the side as if she had noticed something strange.

His hands instinctively moved in that direction and he noticed a small cut on his neck. With the way her eyes narrowed at it, he was sure that the foolish maid had made it.

Perhaps she was struggling. How dare she?

"I went for training." he lied. "I got a cut while having a duel."

Her eyes relaxed. He took a breath himself when her shoulders slumped and her expressions softened.

"I was worried when I did not see you when I woke up," she explained, and for one second, he was happy that she cared for him.

Yes, that was right. She loves him. She would listen to him. Perhaps he was being guilty of nothing. After all, he did not cheat on her in his consciousness. It was just a mistake and it was her and that maid to blame.

"But my maids could not find you in the training ground?" her voice was calmer than before.

He knew that her anger had subsided but she was still suspicious.

"I went to my old room to collect a few things." he lied since he knew many had seen him coming from the direction only.

Sooner or later she would hear about it. When her gaze moved to his empty hands, he sighed.

"The butler had already allotted that room to others. There was a woman inside, so I did not go in." he sighed and walked towards the bed.

He sat on it and stared at the ceiling. The big chandelier with silver and gold plating was shining brightly despite the candles being extinguished.

The mere look of the room was full of luxury opposite to that small room he had lived in. Why in the world did he return there when he was drunk?

The thought made him grit his teeth.

"I thought the room would be locked for a long time." he stared at Lia who sighed, perhaps feeling bad for him.

"I will ask Ben to give the room a thorough check and bring your things here. And I will reprimand him for giving it before asking your permission." he sighed and nodded his head.

It would be for the best if he did not throw a fuss. What if someone had noticed him going there on his own late at night?

"Forget about it. How are you feeling? Did I tire you out?" he stared at her body.

He had seen her nude, but she was still playing with him when he was drinking. Did he touch her? How much? Since she had blood, perhaps they did it!

He wanted to pull his hair and shout. How could he miss and forget something so important? He wanted to remember every second of having sex with her.

He saw how her nose flared and a look of anger passed her eyes.

"Oh, don't you dare ask that! You did it with me until I was tired to move an inch. I asked you to bring a warm towel to clean me. But you did not return after leaving.

I wonder what made you train after that moment. I thought you wanted to hug me and sleep."
