Chereads / A Slow And Painful Death To My Husband / Chapter 5 - She Has Changed

Chapter 5 - She Has Changed

"Do you remember we have made a plan?" Dami's lips twisted into a smirk, "looks like that woman had allowed us to complete it."

"Eek!" Ethan but his nails. His mind filled with so many thoughts while he kept staring at the leaving woman.

"What goal does she have, master? It could not be that simple when it comes to her. What if she plans to get rid of us now that she has married that scumbag." Damien tilted his head toward Ethan only to see his eyes were set on Camelia.

"Sometimes I fail to understand, who is better among us in your eyes?" Ethan did not reply since he knew the master already knew it.

—----------------------

"Lia, where have you been, I was looking for you." Mike's eyes met Dami who stopped a waiter and picked up a glass of wine.

Mike was sure that Dami was leaving. But now he raised a wine glass toward him and drank it. Dami never changes his decision. Even if it was so small as leaving the room. And it was Lia who accompanied him just a second ago.

"I was tending the guests. I have an interesting conversation with Sir Damien too." she smiled as the same waiter returned to her and passed her wine.

She picked it up and looked back at the man. He raised a brow when she toasted back the wine glass and drank it.

Dami laughed hard. This woman had two more eyes on her back.

"Have you greeted all the guests? It is a good chance to meet rare guests." She placed her hands on his shoulders and pressed them lightly while looking at him with meaningful eyes.

His eyes instinctively went toward the balcony. It was booked for the royal family so that they can enjoy the ceremony peacefully.

"I know you are worried. But you are the groom. They will only congratulate you. Then, it depends on you. You can do it right?" her words enticing him. Like a siren whispering the spell into the ears of sailors, her sweet voice lingered in his mind.

He could see nothing but the balcony as she passed him her glass. He drank the wine in a single gulp and walked away.

She stared at him hard as he passed various guests. The fool did not notice the smirk on her face as he took the stairs to reach the balcony.

Damien was surprised too. It was known that his majesty was not happy with the marriage. He wanted Camelia to marry the crown prince. But she refused. Not only was he ignoring their family, but he was only here for a brief moment to show courtesy towards the family who held much power.

Even Marquis was mindful of his words and did not disturb your majesty, yet that fool.

Lia waited for a few minutes. Taking her own sweet time while looking around. She chatted with a few girls about their jewels and looks.

Only then did she follow him. Dami raised a brow. He followed the princess when he felt a tight grip on his hands.

"What do you think you are doing?" Dami glared at Ethan with fiery eyes.

The young man gulped but did not let go.

"His Majesty would be furious seeing the couple there. It will be better to stay away from him when he is furious or he might blame you for your lax security." Ethan warned but Dami just laughed.

"Isn't it more of a reason for me to be there and shoo the couple away in the name of security?" Ethan's eyes widened when Dami jerked his hands away and took the stairs.

Shoo the couple when you are standing in their house and do you forget your origins?' Ethan wanted to shout hard but he only bit his nails again.

..

On the balcony,

Mike took a deep breath and smiled as he walked towards the lone chair in the dark.

It was positioned towards the balcony from where the hall could be seen clearly. Four knights were standing around the chair making a human wall. They all had swords in their hands.

They were the members of the first order of knights. But they knew Mike very well. The man who rose into the ranks faster and despite being a commoner, held the position of the commander of the second order of knights.

They could not help but marvel but at the same time envy him.

"Greetings, your majesty. The only sun of the empire. May the blessings of Goddess Hera always befall upon you." he bowed his head elegantly like a perfect noble with a kind but aloof smile on his face.

"I am honored that you attended my marriage. And I am here to show my gratitude." Alone!

The man leaning on the chair leisurely raised his head and stared at the man.

A mere commoner thanked him for attending his marriage.

"I have always thought of meeting you since I was told that you are Chosen by the young lady of Welenshire." he gave one look to Mike from head to toe, "I never knew that she liked pretty faces. No wonder she refused everyone else." with a cold scoff on his face, he looked away as if the conversation had already ended.

"....." Mike's head was still bowed so no one noticed the change of his expressions. He was trembling with anger. He had been qualified as the best knight. How could he be called just a pretty face?

One day he would show his majesty how much qualified he was when he would take over the Welenshire family and be its head.

He will… soon!

"Then I shall not disturb you further, your majesty." many chances would come in the future.

He assured himself and turned to leave only to meet Lia's eyes. When did she come? He did not hear her at all.

"You are here! Did you come to greet your majesty without me?"
