Chapter 7 - Let the battle begin!

In the following morning everyone was directly at the campfire, some tired from endless training the day before and others tired from the lack of sleep.

Three loud bangs on the floor made everyone straighten up their spine. It was Sabrina and Kin, stepping into the middle Kin stands tall, he is just over 2 inches taller than Sabrina who was a giant in her respective, and he glares over the crowd of spirits. "Listen Up Spirits! Today is Rerank Day! I know a third of you never had an actual written rank, so today is the day to determine it. We will match each and every single spirit based on their performance during the last challenge."

"Let's lay some ground rules", Sabrina yelled loudly, "no excessive force, you must stop your battle whenever we say so, just so everyone knows, your battle is won when your opponent forfeits or you keep them on the ground for 10 seconds, other than that weapons are permitted as well as any manifestation, meet at the sand ring in an hour, good luck spirits, you're gonna need it!"

The sand ring was a large circle, about 200 feet wide and 100 long, where the spirits would usually train hand to hand combat or focus on honing their powers. It lay just a kilometer away from the middle of the spirit's camp, before long there were spirits gathering there with their armor and weapons. And like usual Tyler was the last to arrive.

"You're late again Tyler," Sabrina said clearly agitated, " I'm gonna mess you up badly this time for that"

"Man, why can't you re-rank some other way, always violence with this crew."

"If you don't like it then leave"

"You know my uncle paid good money for this training so I can't," Tyler said, smirking.

"You think your uncle scares me?"

"Alright, alright, lets get on with this, I'm sorry"

Tyler sat at the edge of the ring next to Ian and Jay, as the first battle began, it was between quinn and Jacksie, a veteran member, Jacksie has manifested her powers a year ago, on the other hand quin was still a little new.

"How is that fair?" Ian asked, "That other girl has her manifestation, and Quin does not."

"Your powers only determine the half of you, a calm and patient head with a well tamed body is stronger than you might expect" jay responded

"That's not the case with quin though, she's kind of hot-headed sometimes lets just say the matchings aren't as promised close to "fair" sometimes. Especially this one" as Tyler spoke Jacksies' mark shined the spirit color, and a rush of air was pushed down onto the ring, casting the sand and dust to create a mist of brown. A moment later, a scream "I give up!" It was Jacksie laying on the floor, Quin standing over her with her sword pointed at the neck.

The then loud crowd of spirits became silent enough for the wind to speak its tongue.

"Ha, interesting" Jay responded, "it kind of makes sense, quin was a sharp spirit at the fairy game,"

"Or that Jacksie is not a battle person, wasn't that wise to cast that wind since she is not quite an expert at hand to hand." Tyler said, "oh well you worst enemy is yourself sometimes"

As the winners were announced the next match was going to begin, Jay stood on the fence that separated the sand and the grass, it was his turn to face his opponent.

Ian looked around at who Jay was going to face, and suddenly Shawn jumped onto the sand ring as well.

"Our 14th match is Shawn and Jay," Kin yelled. "Spirits, on the count of 3, 1..2...3!"

As soon as it began the two went in, they lit a trail of white behind them as they were moving faster and faster.

Ian was in awe, despite Shawn's aggressive and cocky demeanor and attitude it was clear that Jay was winning, "why haven't they used their powers? There marks are glowing"

"Your mark glows when you channel energy to build and charge your power," Tyler said, his face began to look a little worried and he grabbed onto Ian's shoulder, "their planning to let everything go at a maximum output!"

Tyler then teleports Ian a few meters back as everyone moves back anticipating a large blast of energy to destroy the arena.

Just then Shawn releases his power, the ground beneath jay began to shake as Shawn places his hands on the floor, jay levitates himself up and releases his power as well, levitating all the broken floor and launching it at Shawn, Shawn dodges the boulders then points both his arms at Jay suddenly hundreds shards of rocks are launched at the speed of sound at jay. Jay was on the defense holding his arms out preparing for impact, the rocks were then stopped before hitting jay.

"Jay's technique has a strong defense point, he can manipulate the density of himself and the elements around him, but then Shawn is also a smart combatant." Tyler looked at Ian's concerned face, "don't worry if you do face them you can opt out, that what's Shawn's last opponent did."

Shawn continues launching the rocks at Jay while Jay continues manipulating the density of the rocks and making them fall to the ground before it touches him.

"It's gonna be a game of endurance, one of them is gonna give in to fatigue."

The glow from Jay's face begins to fade, as the last rock is launched at him. BAM! The rocks shattered in mid air, and Shawn collapsed on the floor, Jay quickly realizes this and runs towards Shawn to help him up. Suddenly a spike of earth is erected from the ground and knocks Jay out.

Shawn gets up from the ground, "Sorry Jay, I'm gonna be in the top 10 this time."

"Shawn is your winner!" Sabrina declared.

"Hes dirty" Ian said to Tyler,

"well you get those sometimes, Shawn and his friends aren't exactly the friendly type, but their strong and that is all that matters in camp serpent"

"I don't think ill survive any one of those guys"

"I bet you can Ian, maybe if you mastered that technique of yours"

"I don't even know What my technique is"

"I know, I know but still-"

"NEXT MATCH! Ian and Fiona!"
