I looked down at my clothes "Damn, I'm all dirty and soaked. I'm cold as well. I need to hurry to the convenience store."
I looked back up, and Cara was gone, nowhere to be seen. I wonder where he went. I started walking out the alleyway as well, but I got even colder, so I started speed walking.
I noticed I was a bit sluggish. Makes sense, though. I just got my ass beat by grown men. Those people aren't bad, they have to survive somehow, just like us.
Once I get to the convenience store, I'll stay in there for a little bit to dry off and warm up. I saw a few people, about ten, walking on the sidewalks which surprised me. There's never more than three or four people out in the same area at once.
One man, dressed in ripped, white leather pants, a red leather jacket, and a black cowboy hat, was carrying a pair of ripped, black leather pants. He reminded me of one of the characters from the cowboy movie I watched.
Another woman, dressed in baggy black sweatpants, a green shirt, and a glossy white puffer jacket, was carrying a burger in her hand, so I knew she just came from the burger place that's pretty close to here.
There was one guy, though. He looked interesting. He had long, black and gray hair that went down to his neck, a black steampunk hat, a dark brown trench coat that was unbuttoned, black and red striped pants that had five silver buttons on the bottom, black leather gloves that showed his fingers, black and red striped shirt, and brown dress boots.
None of his clothes were dirty, had any rips, or were cheap looking. He must not be of lower class. I kept watching him, but he looked normal.
Then, I blinked, and when my eyes opened, he was gone. He had disappeared, nowhere to be found.
I didn't think too much of it. I mean, if he's of some higher class, then he's bound to use magic. The only thing I was confused about was why he's in a low class area.
He wasn't carrying anything, he didn't seem suspicious. It was weird, but there's nothing I can do about it.
I started heading towards the convenience store, and on my way there, I saw the church. Usually, it has no line, and maybe one or two people in it. But this time, it had a whole line of people outside waiting to get in.
They were all wearing the same black uniform and masks. It reminded me of a cult, but cult's are forbidden to be at churches. I was very surprised. A lot of weird shit had been happening, and at this point, I'm starting to get a little freaked out.
I once again kept on moving. I was about two minutes away when I saw another homeless person. This time, it was a man, but he wasn't wearing any type of clothing to protect him from the cold. I was worried about him, but I couldn't help him.
I finally saw the tall sign that said 'Pickle's convenience store.'
I got excited, so I ran, and opened the door. I immediately felt the heat which made me happy. I walked in, and stood there for a few seconds warming up.
I glanced over to the cashier who was staring at me, but I don't blame her. Once I warmed up, I nodded my head at her, then started looking for the candy aisle. It took me a second to find it since it was the last one.
I walked through it, tryna find a candy bar called 'monster crunch.' It's always been my favorite since childhood.
I saw many different candy's, including ones that I like, and ones that I don't like. I finally found 'monster crunch,' and immediately grabbed it. I got happy, but then remembered I'd have to deal with the cold again.
I went up to the cashier, and set down the candy bar.
She was a blonde, white woman, had her hair in a ponytail, had faded dark blue eyes, a plain white shirt, and was wearing the store vest which was green and white.
"You owe 0.39 cherries," she said.
"Ok," I said with a nod. I gave her the money, and she took it while eyeing me. Once she was done she gave me the candy bar, and said "Thanks for shopping."
"Yeah," I said while walking away. I stopped at the door to prepare myself. I pushed the door open, and felt a gust of wind that almost made me stay back and live inside the store until it was warm out.
Instead of doing that, though, I stepped out and started walking toward my house. "Damn," I said in a shivering voice while crossing my arms. I thought back to that magic.
It was so cool, but I still don't understand how he pulled it off, especially the water magic if he's a fire core.
I don't know a lot about magic, but from what I've heard and read about it, I do know that it works in a simple way. Let me explain: Magic has four different main cores. Fire, water, earth, and Energy.
Fire core is the most common core, and it's the second best offensive type magic.
Water core is the second most common, and it's very strong.
Earth core is not uncommon, but not common either, it's right between the two. It's probably the weakest though, so I guess it's a good thing it's not as common.
Energy core is the rarest core, and the strongest. It's most common in the higher ups and upperclassmen.
There's only one way to find out what core you have, and that's by seeing a professional using an advanced machine to see the color. I don't really know the science behind it, though.
Everyone starts with the base powers of their core, and eventually gains more power and abilities by training. T
here's more to it, but I don't know anything else. I've never been taught about magic at an advanced level, this is just the stuff I've read and heard about.
While walking back, I saw the church again, but this time there wasn't a long line outside the building.
They probably all went inside because I saw lights on.
I then heard chanting which confused me, because I've never heard anything like that from the church before. I was intrigued, so I looked both ways, then started walking towards it.
When I got to the church, the chanting got even louder than before. It kinda sounded like they were chanting "sacrifice," but I wasn't too sure.
I got to the front door which was a huge, ancient castle looking door. Probably about ten or eleven feet tall, and had bars you could look through, but I wasn't tall enough. It was brown, made of oak wood, and had rusted metal outlining that wrapped all the way around it. It was chipped, had scratches all over it, and some writing that said 'PRAISE!' which really creeped me out.
I got some courage and opened the door. It was extremely heavy, so it took a good amount of my strength to get open.
It made a loud squeaking noise which was the one thing I didn't want to happen.
When I got it open, everyone was still wearing those purple cloth and purple cloth masks that only showed their right eye.
I looked around, then I noticed them all sitting down, staring at me. Piercing eyes from all around were focused on me and only me.
"Hi, everyone," I said nervously. "Is, uh, is everything alright?" I stuttered.
Then I noticed it. There was a white man with dark brown hair, just like my mothers, probably around the age of fifty, who was hung on a huge, scratched, and chipped wooden board, which could fit about three people in the very front of the church.
He was covered in blood head to toe. He had huge, rusty nails stuck through his shoulders, shins, forearms, and thighs. He had blood coming out of his eyes, mouth, ears, and nose. He had dirt and scratches on him, almost like he was dragged through the whole town. He had large chunks of flesh missing which were also pouring blood.
"Oh god," I said while gagging and taking two steps back. "What did you people do to him," I screamed out, horrified by the situation.
I heard a loud clang, that If close enough, would burst your eardrums. I looked around the room, seeing old broken down benches and structures that were impossible to make out, but I didn't see anything that could make that type of noise.
I looked up, then I saw what made the sound. It was a huge, rusty, golden bell the size of a pick-up truck.
I started to lower my head. "But why are you guys—" I cut myself off.
All the people who were sitting before, were now standing up, but they were all still staring at me with that piercing eye. It was as if I could see the evil in their eyes.
"What the hell is wrong with you people?" I screamed out.
All at once, they said, "Sacrifice."
"Huh?" I questioned. "Why are you saying—" I took a step back, looked behind me at the door, and said "Oh, shit."
The door was somehow closed. I didn't hear it close, or see anyone close it, though.
They started chanting louder "Sacrifice. Sacrifice. Sacrifice." Louder "Sacrifice. Sacrifice. Sacrifice."
Then the one standing up at the front screamed an order that sent a shiver down my spine. "Kill him!"
When he said that, they all ran at me, not a single one still standing in the same spot.
I immediately looked around for a place to get out. I saw boarded up windows, but nothing that would let me escape.
I saw the man in the front holding his hand high. His hand was glowing with a dark green and blue aura. Was he the one who closed the door? But I've never heard of that type of magic.
The people who ran at me were getting closer to me, so I ran for a window that was boarded up.
One of them jumped at me, making me trip but I kicked him off of me.
Another grabbed my left arm, so I pushed him off.
I got to the boarded window which had three board, one at the top, one in the middle, and one at the bottom.
"Ok. C'mon, you got this." I pulled with all my strength. I felt the wood move a little, so I tried pulling harder.
"You'll never get away," said the man in the front wielding the weird magic.
I finally got one of the boards off and saw that the window was slightly broken on the middle right. I needed more room to get out when I did, so I pulled on the bottom one.
It wasn't nailed in as well, so it was pretty easy to get off. Now I needed to break the glass.
I looked for a weapon, but saw nothing, so I decided to use my hand.
I clenched my fist, preparing myself for pain, and punched the glass as hard as I could. It made a huge crack, so I prepared to punch again, but then another person grabbed me by my arm. "Get off me," I said in a menacing tone.
He looked terrified, like I was the devil himself.
I used the same hand I was gonna use for the window on him. I hit him in the face, immediately knocking him out. I didn't care, though. I needed to get out, so I punched the glass one more time and it broke.
I looked back at the man wielding the weird magic, and with a smile, I said, "I got away," and jumped out the window. I landed on my feet, looked back, and saw all of the people trying to get out, but they couldn't.
I ran as fast as I could towards my house to get away from the church.
While running, I looked at my hand to see if there were any injuries since I didn't feel any pain. "Holy shit," I said with a gasp. My entire right hand was full of blood, and I must've scraped some skin off as well.
I must've been full of adrenaline since I didn't feel any pain. I seemed far enough away from the church, so I stopped running.
I covered my knuckles with my other hand and kept walking towards my house.
While walking on the sidewalk, I saw the same homeless woman. She was laying down still, but I still went on the road to be further away from her.
I finally noticed that it was dark out, and there were no people outside anymore. I started walking faster to not get into any trouble. I could finally see my house. I was about one hundred feet away.
"Finally," I said in a thankful voice.
When I got up to my house, I noticed the door was open. It was dark out, so there was no reason for my mom to be outside.
"Mom!" I called out. "You there?" No response.
I went inside and looked around. "What—"
