"Wait—What? How could I have done that without remembering? You must be lying or—"
He cut me off, "I wouldn't lie about something like this. What I said was the truth, and what I'm about to tell you is also the truth."
"Ok…I'm ready."
Taking a deep breath, and holding his black and red striped cane in both hands, he started speaking, "Last night, you went on a rampage fuelled by pure hatred. After seeing your, uh, mom die, you lost control of your mind and body, and that's why you don't remember anything after her dying. Don't feel guilty, though. Those people were horrible and deserved what they got."
"I don't feel any guilt for killing them. They were pieces of shit deserving of death." I said, feeling anger swell up inside me again. I took a deep breath, calming myself down. "But how did I kill all of them?" I asked, confused.
"You awakened your magic, and that's what made me come over here," He said. "You wield very powerful magic. Magic that cannot be controlled without help from an experienced Mage."
"I awakened my magic?" I asked. "But how? I thought you could only do that by—"
He cut me off, and said, "No. Those ways are false. They don't actually work. You can't 'put your aura into somebody,' or 'get it awakened by a machine," He said in a firm tone. "You awaken your magic through strong emotions," He put his cane down, and started walking toward me. He stopped and said, "There is a war that's going to happen, and with the great power you have, you need to be involved in the war."
"A war? Between who?"
"The King's."
"The Calamities?" I questioned. "But why would other humans be getting involved in the war of gods?"
"If you're a Mage, you must get involved," he said. "This is how it's been for centuries. No changing it now."
I looked down at my hands, thinking of my mom and the people I killed.
"You don't have to if you don't want to," he said. "You may have awakened your magic, but you're not a Mage, so no one can force you."
"Oh, thanks for telling me that," I said, debating whether I should let him train me.
Do I really want to get involved in war? A war between the gods of this world?
"But you know," he started speaking, "those people that killed your mom were a part of the Hakai cult, and the Calamity who started this war is Hakai," he said, moving his left hand to his chin and rubbing it. "Hakai is in control of the Hakai cult, so—"
"So, Hakai is sending his cult to do horrible things to people," I said, finishing his sentence and clenching my fists.
"Exactly. So, do you want revenge for your mothers death?" he asked.
"How am I supposed to get revenge?" I asked. "The Calamities, Hakai especially, are far more powerful than any regular human can get."
"That's true, but the magic I felt from you last night was something I've only felt from few others in this world," he said. "But, those people have already mastered their magic, and you haven't. You have unfathomable potential, and that's why I want to train you."
"Ok, I'll let you train me under one condition."
"What's the condition?" he intriguingly asked.
"You tell me exactly what happened last night," I said firmly.
"Oh," he said. "I can do that!"
"Good."
"Obviously, I wasn't here when you first saw your mother die, so I don't know what happened right after, but it didn't take me long to get here."
"Uh huh," I said, nodding my head.
He looked over at the old, blue chair, and walked over to it. He looked at me, then at the chair, so I could tell he wanted to sit. I nodded my head and he sat with one leg over the other.
He started speaking, "When I wasn't here, though, I could sense a type of…hatred, but I didn't know where it was coming from," he leaned forward, looking at me fiercely. "That was until you released your magic. Your magic made me shake. It was terrifying. Magic on that scale mixed with the emotions you were feeling isn't fun to sense...or to fight against," he said.
"How did you get over here so fast, then?" I asked.
"I was somewhat close by, so I went as fast as I could," he said. "When I got over here, one was already on the floor."
He looked at me intensely, and said, "His body was ripped in half."
"What—but how? How could I have ripped someone in half?" I asked, disgusted and confused.
"Hatred combined with magic isn't something to be toyed with."
"But still," I said, "What happened after?"
"You grabbed one by the throat, lifted him up, then slammed him into the ground." He hit his cane on the ground and said, "When you stood up, his head was disconnected from his body."
I stared at Arthur, trying to think of words to say. I couldn't, though. I was shocked. I didn't think it would be that brutal.
Arthur continued on, saying, "The next one charged at you, screaming 'Fuck you!' and swung his fist at you. You grabbed his arm and punched him in the face, sending him flying back." He looked at me with a fierce look and said, "His arm was still in your hand, disconnected from his body. He screamed in pain, so you went over to him and stomped on his face, killing him instantly."
I didn't really want to know anymore about what happened, but I had to know if the last two got away or not, so I said, "what happened to the other two?"
"They both gave up, begging for their lives."
"Did I spare them?" I asked, hoping that…that…
"You killed both of them. One by snapping his neck, and the other by punching a hole through his stomach."
I sat there, thinking for a moment. "I didn't think it'd be that bad, but it was.
"What did you do with their bodies?" I asked
"Dumped them in the Shi lake. No one will ever find them there," he said, confidently.
"Oh, good. I don't wanna see them, nor do I want anyone else to see them."
"..."
"When, uh, when are we gonna start this training?"
"We will in a little bit, but first, let's eat!" he said excitedly.
I sighed, thinking about the disgusting food we have over here. "Uh, ok, where are we gonna eat, then?"
"Right here!"
"Huh? How does that work?" I asked, confused. "Are we gonna bring the food back or something?"
"Nope," he said, as he moved his left arm, looking like he was grabbing something. "We're gonna eat this!" he said, as a burger appeared in his hand.
"How—"
"Ah, it's magic," he said, cutting me off.
"What type of magic…?" I asked.
"Spatial magic."
"Spa—what? What's that?" I questioned while scratching my head.
He pulled out another burger, handed it to me, and said, "I'll explain while we eat."
"Uh, ok." I bit into the burger, and immediately realized that it was from someplace else. It was amazing. I'd never had any food that tasted this good.
"Where did you get this from?" I asked with sparkles in my eyes.
"Calm down now," he said while chuckling. "I got it from the higher realm."
"Higher realm?" I questioned.
"I keep forgetting. Sorry, kid," he said with a slight smirk. "You probably know about this world's hierarchy right?" he asked.
"Of course. The Supreme beings, The Higher ups, The Upperclassmen, and so on."
"Yes, exactly. Now, what you don't know is that they all live in a separate realm."
"What? What do you mean 'separate realm'?"
"We don't all live on one big planet like you, and everyone else in the Lower and Middle realm have been taught."
"So…," I said while thinking about what he meant, "what or where do I, and everybody else live?"
"Let me show you"
