The manor was filled with people as they beautified it with flowers Kareen recommended, because one of her abilities was nature.
"Where should I put this Luna?" A young maiden came to ask Kareen as she placed fresh flowers in a vase.
Kareen took her eyes off the flowers and looked at the pretty lady.
"Wherever you seem fit," she replied and the girl nodded.
"Can I ask you something?" Spencer hadn't stopped following her after Reginald and Lewis went to catch up with each other on what they missed.
"Go on Spencer," she agreed as she admired the red roses she placed in the pink vase.
"How did you know he was your soulmate?"
Her smile broadened at his question and she turned her head to face him.
"When my eyes fell on him, it was then I knew. There was this strong pull to be with him and also mark him…but he was just a boy and I couldn't." She laughed at the fond memory.
"You raised your soulmate." Spencer snickered because it was hilarious and also adorable at the same time.
"Yes, I did." Kareen took no offense in what he said.
"How does he feel knowing you raised him?" Spencer wanted to know their intriguing story.
"Thankful. He was happy I was around him since when he was little to know him and save us the stress of getting to know each other. And he's glad he didn't have to wait for ages to find his mate like Reginald's father."
Whenever she spoke about Lewis, her face would brighten and her smile would stretch as well, making her look more young and prettier.
"There were times when he asked about how he behaved when he was little. He wanted to know everything that happened, if he embarrassed himself in front of me."
"Did he?" Spencer grinned as he enjoyed the love story.
"A LOT." Kareen stressed the words and burst into laughter and Spencer grinned as his heart warmed.
Everyone in Spencer's life had a unique story of how they met their mate and he had asked each and every one of them about it to know which one was more romantic.
But none could beat Kareen and Lewis'.
Theirs was special and filled with love, care, patience and hope.
Kareen had patiently waited for Lewis to grow even though she was impatient and wanted to mark him because her fangs itched.
"He wasn't too shy when he was little but he was a quiet one. When he hit his early teen years he became extremely shy around me and very careful with his words as if he didn't want to wrong me." Her eyes stared into the distance as she remembered it.
Spencer was smiling from ear to ear as he listened with rapt attention.
"Was he shy because he found out you were his mate?"
"No Spencer. He had feelings for me, it was young love." She chuckled as she lifted the vase filled with roses and handed it to him.
When she turned and left the hallway, he followed her with the vase of roses in his hands.
She wore a floral dress and it swept the floor as she walked up the grand stairs.
"There were plenty of times I would catch him stealing glances at me."
Spencer's eyes glimmered as he followed her up the staircase.
Kareen slid her hand across the concrete rails as she took a turn to the right to climb another round of stairs and Spencer quickly went to assist her while still holding the vase of roses with one hand.
"Did you show him you were in love with him too?" Spencer wanted to know and Kareen faced him with a wide smile.
"I wanted to pull his legs and tease him a little longer but the longing to be with him was stronger."
"So when did he find out you were his mate?"
"When he turned into an adult." She replied and Spencer's eyes widened.
"So you mean to tell me you waited that long to be with him?" There was visible shock on his face.
Kareen paused and exhaled because she was already exhausted from the long walk.
"Yes Spencer, I waited patiently for him."
Too exhausted to continue, she decided to sit on one of the stairs and Spencer sat next to her and kept the vase of roses in between his legs on the lower stair.
They sat in silence as they thought about their lives.
Kareen was thinking about her unborn child as she rubbed her belly in a loving manner while Spencer thought about his mate and wondered when she would arrive because he was becoming impatient.
"I wonder what my mate would be like. Most times I imagine her being an angel like Valeria." Spencer spoke his mind and Kareen listened in silence.
"I want to know how it feels to have a mate…I even dream about her scent." He smiled to himself as he stared into space, daydreaming about her.
He had read a lot of romance books and they made him fantasize about a lot of things.
"What I fear is to wait for a very long time like Reginald's father. I want to spend my youth with her…"
Spencer sighed after saying that and Kareen rubbed his back in a comforting manner.
"She's on her way…maybe she's not even far away." Kareen tried to lift his spirit and he faced her with a dull smile.
And as they gazed into each other's eyes, two people were about to descend the stairs when their eyes fell on Kareen and Spencer who were sitting on one of the stairs below.
"They're catching up fast." Reginald spoke while Lewis narrowed his eyes at them.
Something in him felt uncomfortable seeing his mate sitting that close to a male and touching him.
Noticing how Lewis zeroed his eyes on Kareen's hand which was placed on Spencer's back, Reginald was reminded of Amelia and his stepbrother.
As if sensing their presence, Kareen turned her head and looked up with a cheerful smile when she saw her soulmate.
"Seems like they're done talking." She said to Spencer and it was then he turned to see Lewis standing with Reginald.
"Come on Spence." She removed the 'r' from his name as she struggled to get up but he assisted her immediately and she thanked him with her bright smile.
Lewis descended the stairs calmly and Reginald followed.
On reaching them, Lewis gave Spencer a light glare as he put his right arm around Kareen's waist in a possessive manner before gently pulling her to his side.
"Thank you Spence, but I'll be taking her from here. You should go get ready." Spencer simply nodded his head and took his hands off Kareen.
"I'll see you later then Reginald." Lewis' eyes moved to Reginald as he said that and Reginald gave a brief nod and watched how Lewis assisted Kareen as they went up the stairs.
"I warned you not to climb this stairs dearest…you know it stresses you." He reminded her. His tone was soft and caring but his eyes were intense on her.
She faced him and smiled adorably without saying a word about it.
"Aunt Kareen!" Spencer called out to her and she immediately stopped before turning her head to stare at him as he made his way up with the vase of roses.
Lewis had a displeased look as he watched Spencer.
"What am I to do with this vase of roses?" He asked when he reached where they stood with a confused look.
"Keep it in your room. Take it as a good luck gift from me in finding your mate soon." She said thoughtfully and Spencer's heart warmed at her words and he smiled widely before thanking her.
As Kareen was about to turn, her eyes caught how Lewis glared at Spencer and he looked greatly displeased that she had gifted him rose flowers.
"Come love," she called out to him and he tore his gaze off the vase of roses with difficulty and faced his mate who gave him a knowing look, as if reprimanding him with her eyes.
By then, Spencer had already left them to go back to Reginald who waited for him.
"Why did you gift him those flowers?" He finally asked as he narrowed his eyes at her.
"For good luck." She answered shortly and patted the left side of his cheek before turning to resume her walk and he sighed before mumbling,
"I don't support you gifting other men flowers…you should only gift them to me dearest."
