Sawn and I did as we were told and quietly followed the maids that came to the throne room to accompany us. This whole turn of events seemed a bit weird to me but knowing that I had spent most of my life in the compound I tried not to judge. The last thing I wanted was to say something and enrage my so-called old friend and her people.
In a way it was fascinating. How did she know me and where on earth could we have met? Was it a long time ago? I couldn't help but wonder about such details, thinking that soon I would finally get the first glimpses of my past. Having someone tell you they knew you and you not having the slightest idea is almost a bit as if you have amnesia.
"That is a big room." I mumbled when the maid opened the door to the guest house. She was a kind looking woman in her thirties, her skin had a greenish hue to it and her ears were pointy, the same way everyone's here was. She stepped in and waited for me to follow her before she began explaining.
"This will be your room for as long as you stay here. Please use it however you like. We have organized all the things you might need. You can also take a bath and I advise you to change into some new clothes that we have placed in the closet. It will be more appropriate if you attend dinner in Fae attire."
"Alright. Thank you very much." I smiled kindly and she bowed before she left, closing my door behind her. Iona had instructed that we stayed in and seeing my room I had no problem with that.
It was spacious with wide open windows and beige curtains. The furniture had gold designs on them, flowers and birds while my sheets were made from the softest silk I had ever touched. I walked in the bathroom, seeing the enormous marble bathtub. I started to prepare myself a bath, picking out different scents to throw in the hot water.
By the time I was done bathing the whole room smells like vanilla and peaches. Wrapping myself with a towel I walked barefoot to the closet only to gasp the moment I opened it. It was the first time I was seeing so many clothes in my life, made from shiny fabrics, dresses of all colors and styles. I walked in, humbled because I knew I would never be able to wear anything as beautiful as that and my hands touched each one of them.
It was very difficult to choose, to me everything looked beautiful but there was one dress that caught my eye eventually.
It had a dark green color, made of silk with a golden waist made of vines. The shoulders were put with only a few chains decorating the arms.
I carefully took it out, hoping that it would fit me. It was a bit tight, not in a bad way, more like that you want to show your curves way. I blushed when I looked in the mirror. It was the first time I was wearing something so beautiful. I decided to do my hair to match, finding in me the want to see myself looking presentable after a long time.
I found a golden rose shaped clip, pulling my hair up and letting a few curls escape, I pinned it to my head. There was even make up and perfumes. I used all of it, looking like a little girl that was allowed to play with my mum's makeup.
A little rouge, some mascara and a tint on my lips would suffice since I wasn't sure what would be good for dinner and I didn't want to look like a clown.
I was ready to grab one of the rose smelling perfumes when I heard a loud thump coming from my balcony. Surprised, I stood up from the little stool of my balcony and rushed outside.
I scanned the place with my eyes, searching for the source of the noise when I spotted it. Slowly I felt my breath getting caught in my throat. My eyes locking with his made my chest heart, an unbearable pain as if I was just hit.
He was down there, laid in the green grass once more, his face bruised as he looked at me with his green eyes. Why was he here? I couldn't help but wonder, he could be an enemy, he could be dangerous. I warned myself and decided to return to my room.
That was of course until I heard his voice. It was deep and warm like hot coffee. It made me shiver as his words reached my ears and I turned around without even wanting to.
"Give me a hand will ya?" He had called me. "I am being chased."
And I like a fool, before I even realized it was jumping off the balcony.
I landed on my feet skillfully, realizing too late that I was barefoot. I rushed towards him, hearing my footsteps as I probably made one of the worst mistakes of my life and fell to my knees next to him. It was a very dramatic moment, a bit more than it had to.
"Well, thank you my lady." He told me. I couldn't reply, it was his half smile, the way his eyes landed on my face so sneakily, he looked like a little mischievous devil but he definitely wasn't one.
He sat up, now being even closer and I noticed his wounds starting to heal.
"You're a vampire." I mumbled. "And you didn't need help!" I exclaimed as I realized that I was probably lured here.
"Actually…" He mumbled when his head snapped, his eyes focusing on a bunch of soldiers. "That is half right." He told me.
After that everything happened too fast. One minute I was sitting on the grass while the other I was in his embrace disappearing to god knows where, away from my room which I had been instructed to stay in.
"Let me go!" I shouted, hitting his chest.
"Are you sure you want that, my lady?" He asked me. "What if I let go of you and the world shutters?"
