Chereads / Death Loves my Hero / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Creation

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Creation

World of Fantasy is a game with millions of players on each server. One reason this game became so popular is that of one of its main features, character creation, where you select your class, and race, edit your features, how old you want yourself to be, what gender you can be, and determine where your first 5 stat points should go.

"God, why must you do this to me?!"

"I've died countless times already, enough times that I lost count!"

I sulked and cussed out in the endless void, knowing that the only ones who can hear me is probably the A.I. who governs the system in this world, but after a few hours, I sighed and began creating my character.

"Hmm?"

Before creating my new character, I saw a notification pop out.

[You gained the achievement 'Hero loved by death']

[You unlocked a hidden class!]

[You unlocked a hidden race!]

The latter two aside, I don't know if I should feel honored by this achievement or insulted that I have it for dying thousands of times. I immediately checked the race option and there I saw it, a race I'd never seen before.

******

[Race: The Risen]

Description: The Risen are carriers of death and bad omen, they are heroes that permanently died on the battlefield or somewhere else.

Effects: Your starting stat points are that of a Hero you've once created but halved. Your creature type is considered undead humanoid. You get one random skill your previous Hero had. Once found out that you're a risen, your reputation goes to the lowest spectrum, and is considered the enemy of all living beings.

******

Reading it at first it may seem powerful because your starting stat points will be the same as one of the many characters you have created, but halved, and you can gain one of their skills, but if you read the other detriments, being an undead humanoid and if found out, I can become the enemy of all living beings, then it might be better not to.

Undead Humanoids are known for a few things, such as zombies, skeletons, ghouls, ghosts, and such, but they have one glaring weakness, the sun, while the undead are under direct sunlight their stats are decreased by 50% and they get damaged over time although it's only a little, not only that, priests who're known for healing, buffing, and using holy magic will instead damage or weaken the undead using buffs that rely on divine energy

That just means anyone who uses this race will have their hunting time cut to half, and mission completing more tedious, although when I think about it having your stats halved when you're at level 1 with an overall stat of 100 means nothing as the highest recorded overall stats of a level 1 is 20, but at higher levels, it would become a major detriment.

So in the end, I chose it anyway…

It gave me a plethora of choices as I've made hundreds of different characters throughout the entire time I've played this game.

There's one that I want to use as it's the only one that reached level 10, but never got past it. I felt my height change, making me a tad bit shorter, and I could feel some power surge into me, the only character I spent actual money on to get the ever-so-expensive strength, agility, and dexterity potion that permanently increases my stats by 5.

"Status screen."

Well, with this type of stats, I can defeat any player that's below level 10. Now time to pick a class. The main reason breaching past level 10 is so hard, it's because when you reach level 10 you'll be granted a class quest and you'll need to complete it in order to leave the town and forest of beginnings showing that you can carry the title of Hero.

"I'll worry about that in the future. Now let's see that new class."

I've tried all the other beginner classes which are: Warrior, Thief, Brawler, Archer, Mage, and Priest. Those are beginner classes. you can path to its stronger advanced classes or unlock a secret class replacing your original class, but to unlock a new class in character creation is unheard of.

[Apostle of Death]

"Now I feel insulted again…"

******

[Class: Apostle of Death]

Description: The first and last Apostle of the primordial goddess of death and darkness Kalda, the Apostle of Death can realize the fate of death upon a person by delivering blows that'll kill them in an instant, but as you choose this class you will become the enemy of the world.

Beginning Skills: Accursed One (Max), Touch of Death (I), Shadow Step (I), Death Mark (I).

Accursed One (Max): You're immune to curses and debuffs reversing their effects by turning Slow into Haste and so on. You also don't suffer the penalty for death when you reach level 0.

Touch of Death (I): You have a 0.0001% chance of instantly killing an enemy.

Shadow Step (I): You can continuously consume mana 2 mana per second to move faster in the shadows and in darkness Increase by 25%.

Death Mark (I) grants you the ability to place a mark of impending death upon a target for an hour. Once marked, a luminous trail of light will guide you to the location where the target's demise is destined to occur, revealing the method of their demise. Striking the mark guarantees a critical hit, delivering devastating damage. Moreover, any critical strikes directed at marked targets unleash an additional 50% critical damage. This costs 25% of your mana to cast, but if you kill the marked creature within the time frame. You can freely switch it to a different creature with no mana cost.

Reading these skills I didn't hesitate to choose it, this class will become the pillar for me to reach the high rankers, and it would be how I escape the endless loop!

"Hahahaha!!"

After adjusting some more things, I finalized character creation with where I put the extra 5 stat points, thinking about my skills I distributed it like this.
