Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Town of Genesis

The Town of Beginning is a place where all beginners start their journey in the grand World of Fantasy, a small remote town with high wooden walls protecting it from the enemies of the outside as it's situated in the middle of a forest.

"Hold the gates!"

"Get more water over here!"

"Aaagh! My body, my body's on fire!"

"Damn Hellhounds! I thought it would be over when that bitch of a goddess was dead!"

"O'Lord, please aid us in this desperate situation!"

The cries of agony and shouts of bravery echoed out in the town, the heat of these hellish flames made me sweat even though I'm far away from the burning buildings, a thick black smog covers the entire sky with fiery embers floating in the air.

"Really? This is the first thing I see…"

I smiled, knowing that I'll die anyway since I'm surrounded by these hellhounds.

"I hate this game!"

Was the last few bits I said before being blown to smithereens.

[Death Count: 1]

[Instead of true death, you lose 1 in all stats!]

[Your equipment loses 50% durability!]

[You've revived in 'Town of Genesis'!]

Light returned to my eyes and I could hear the tweeting of birds, the merchants calling out to the players, and npc alike, and the cool breeze that brushed my ash-white hair.

I went down on my knees and smacked the floor with my clenched fist. 6 stat points are gone, but it's a good thing that I'm already more powerful than your average level 1, but that still sucks! I took a breath, calming myself down, and I checked my inventory.

"Inventory."

I checked my inventory and checked my equipment, but it looks like my old equipment didn't get carried over to my newly revived character, instead, I get the standard equipment of the class, which somehow is a pair of short swords, a leather tunic, and white long-sleeved shirt with leather pants and boots.

"At least none of it broke."

I got up and went to the center of the town, where a map is located. All towns have a map at their center, and when I looked at it I realized where I am.

"That's impossible…"

[You take 3 damage!]

There are 4 Town of Beginnings. Each town represents the cardinal directions: North, East, South, and West. When you die and make a new character, you revive in the town you first spawned in, but unless that town is destroyed, only then would you revive in a different town.

"Shit, although the Town of Beginning in the west was the easiest, it had to put me in the east, known as the hardest for their beginner monsters are kobolds, wolves, and wild boars, and the field boss being known as the noob slayer, Scarlet Ogre."

[You take 3 damage!]

This is not good news for me, truth be told, I'm actually great at this game, but there's one problem my luck is a complete ass in this game, the only reason why I keep on dying is because of my stupid luck, imagine almost finishing the class quest only to die in the end because I sat underneath an apple tree and an apple fell on my head dealing 1damage.

[You take 3 damage!]

I felt a searing pain on the back of my neck and I remembered, I'm an undead, and it was daytime! I ran towards an inn and shouted out.

"Shit!!"

"Mommy, mommy, that guy said shit."

"Honey, don't say that. That's a bad word."

I went into the darkest corner I could find when I looked at my health bar it was already halfway down as smoke rose from my skin.

[You are not under direct sunlight!]

[Your stats returned to normal]

I sighed and sat down on the stool, letting myself heal, albeit slowly. The pain faded and my mood lightened up, knowing that I'm quite far ahead for a level 1 player, so facing the enemies in the east shouldn't be a problem.

The inn itself was comfortable, the windows are opened letting the sunlight in, and you could hear the players planning their next moves at some tables, the inns in World of Fantasy are widely considered as the meeting place of heroes second being the local bars.

"E-excuse me, sir, a-are you ready to o-order?"

I looked to my side and saw a young timid girl, she wore a server's outfit and hid half her face behind a serving tray.

"Just give me a loaf of bread and some butter."

"A-alright!"

Truth be told I don't feel hungry, or thirsty, is it because I'm an undead? I collected my thoughts and started planning my next few moves as I open the menu to search in the forums about the 'best farming spots' in the Town of Genesis.

"He-here's your order, 5-5 copper pieces p-please."

I grabbed the 5 copper pieces from the money you get as a beginner and gave it to the little server as she bowed her head then left right after, before I spread the butter on the loaf of bread, and took a bite out of it.

"Tasteless."

I don't feel hunger or thirst, and I can't even taste the food, that'll drive me insane! I finished the loaf of bread anyway, not wanting to waste the food I bought and I waited for the day and noon to pass. I used most of my time in researching.

"Now's time for me to depart."

I took off and went to the entrance of the town where a lot of heroes are looking for some party members to fill up the roles missing in their party.

"Looking for a level 5 brawler, to go with us in the kobold's cave!"

"Looking for an archer with tracking skill!"

"Anyone up to party up!"

One of the things I read is that the best way to get past the level 10 barrier in the Town of Genesis is to party up with at least 6 people because of the difficulty in the forest and other hunting spots, the only problem being is the split of exp unless you funnel it to one player first.

"Well, it's not like I need a party anyways."

"Sir! Do you want to join my party?"

I saw someone approach me, but I evaded them and went into the forest by myself.

"Wait. sir!"
