"Hello, miss!" A little girl ran to a lady standing in line, waiting to get her coffee.
"Yes, little miss," Deborah stooped a little low to reach the little girl's level.
"There's something you need to know," The little girl uttered. She looked serious about her statement.
"Alright?" Deborah answered, looking around the shop to see if she might see the parent of the girl but she couldn't get a hint so Deborah focused on the girl.
"Miss, you have a short life," the little girl said, killing Deborah's curiosity.
Deborah's face creased after hearing the little girl's statement. It was weird as fuck. It was also unexpected. How can a little girl utter such words?
Deborah decided to ignore what the girl said to her. "Where's your mother?" Deborah asked.
"Miss, be careful of what you wish for, bye!" The beautiful little girl said before walking away.
Deborah watched the little girl run away. "That must be a joke," she muttered to herself as she stood straight. "Children these days," she shook her head.
Deborah received a promotion at work and was resuming her first day in her new position. It was a special day for her. Deborah marked the date in her calendar. 7th of July, 2022.
Deborah glanced back at the direction the girl passed through but the little girl seemed to have disappeared. She shook her head again and took it as a prank played by children.
Surprisingly, Deborah was in her room reminiscing about that morning with the little girl.
The event suddenly came to her mind while she was reading the book she had kept on her shelf for months.
Although it had been months after hearing such a statement from the little girl, Deborah was still disturbed by it. It was already December and yet the girl's words still affected her like it was yesterday.
Deborah was in her bed with her legs crossed as she read the book 'Rejected By My Mate' when she suddenly zoned out, recalling that morning.
Deborah had returned from work earlier and while waiting for her friends so she could have dinner with them, she decided to read a few pages of the book.
However, the book seemed to be created solely to annoy her.
Deborah snapped out of her thoughts and said to herself that it was impossible for her to have a short life. She didn't even know why she recalled such rubbish from a little girl.
Deborah returned to reading the book only to reach a point where she had to slap her head. "How stupid can you be, Georgia?"
At this moment, Deborah was still reading Georgia's point of view. Georgia was the female lead but she was too stupid and didn't even deserve to be the main character.
"Oh, fuck, Georgia! Are you stupid?!" Deborah suddenly went crazy because of the female lead's behavior.
"He's a jerk and you keep acting idiotic and kind to him!! If I were you, I'd teach him a big lesson and knock sense into his stupid damn head!!" Deborah yelled before setting the book aside.
"Oh, I wish I was Georgia," standing up to get water from the kitchen, Deborah said to herself, glancing at the book cover. "I'd make that foolish Alpha pay. I don't care if he is the Alpha!"
Deborah grunted before leaving her room. When she reached the kitchen, her friends entered the house with the food they'd be having as dinner in their hands.
And after dinner, Deborah went back to her room. She had a long day tomorrow and was exhausted already. She just collapsed in bed and entered her dream world.
Deborah opened her eyes, sensing and smelling the morning. After a long stretch, Deborah sat up and ran her fingers through her head, planning her actions of taking a bath and leaving for work.
However, something else made her curious, waking Deborah completely.
Deborah realized that her hair was different from her hair. The texture was very much unlike and while touching her hair, she realized that it was long.
"What the fuck?" Deborah uttered and dragged her hair to view it. "My hair is red," she whispered.
Deborah thought her friends were playing with her so she dragged her hair, thinking it was a wig and would fall off her hair but her hair was in her scalp.
"This is my hair," Deborah uttered. "What the fuck is going on?"
Still pondering, Deborah learned that the bed she was sleeping on had a different bed sheet around it. "Oh," she shut her eyes closed, thinking she was dreaming.
"Deborah, wake up!" She groaned. "Bitch, wake up!" She told herself and opened her eyes only to meet herself in the same bed.
"Fuck!" Deborah then decided to look around the room. "This isn't my room," she uttered. "I'm in the wrong room. Am I dead and already in the afterlife?" She questioned herself.
"10:12," Deborah saw the time and immediately jerked out of the bed. This action caused her to see the calendar.
Deborah picked it up after seeing that the year on the calendar was 2018 and it was the month of July. "Who's playing this trick on me?!" She roared.
"This calendar isn't even mine," Deborah said.
Suddenly she looked behind her because of the knock she heard on the door.
"Good morning, Georgia! Are you awake?" Deborah heard from outside the door.
"Who the fuck is that?" She murmured to herself.
"Come in," Deborah answered. 'Who's Georgia?' She then wondered why the person entering called out to Georgia.
"Georgia," the lady's voice reached Deborah, causing her to turn to the lady.
"Georgia?" Deborah asked herself. "Me?" She lifted her hand and placed it on her chest.
Deborah then looked down at herself after touching the garment on her body. "Oh, the clothes are even different," she rolled her eyes as if she'd faint.
"Are you okay, Georgia? What do you mean?" The lady standing a bit close to Deborah asked with a creased face.
'Georgia'
'Georgia'
'Georgia'
'That's the name of the female in the book I was reading before sleeping last night'
Deborah finally knew why the name seemed familiar to her. 'That stupid book' she expressed her feelings towards the book.
"Wait, don't tell me…" Deborah was about to conclude when she saw a mirror. She ran to it because everything happening now was making her crazy.
Deborah reached the mirror. Upon seeing her reflection, Deborah's shoulders went down. 'This isn't my body'
Deborah pulled the chair in front of her and sat on it to have a great view of herself. 'Is this Georgia?'
Deborah thought to herself. Deborah had a few tattoos around her neck, her eyes were beautiful and green, around her ears were piercings and a few were on her face but the image in the mirror didn't reflect her appearance but a red-haired lady.
"What's going on with you, Georgia?" After hearing the lady's voice, Deborah looked up at her and surprisingly knew who she was.
'This is Emily'
'But how do I know this?'
Deborah asked herself and began to remember things that weren't hers. Deborah remembered the Alpha, Georgia's life, and Georgia's son.
Not only was she in another person's body, but she also had the lady's memory.
'But wait, if I'm in Georgia's body, what happened to my body?'
Deborah suddenly pondered while the lady standing beside her, watched her acting strangely.
'You have a short life'
Deborah recalled that little girl's words. 'This is impossible! It's impossible!' she screamed in her head. 'Am I dead?' Deborah wondered.
'So I entered this body after dying but why Georgia's body?'
'And why do I have a fucking short life?'
Deborah was swamped in her thoughts while the lady waited a little bit for Georgia to regain her mind because it wasn't the first time Georgia acted in such a manner.
"Georgia?" Emily eventually called out to her, reminding Deborah that Emily was still in the room.
Deborah looked up. Surprisingly, she answered even when she wasn't Georgia, which appeared to be strange.
"Are you overthinking again?" Emily asked. Emily also had red hair but hers wasn't as curly as Georgia's.
"What will I be overthinking about?" Deborah asked. 'Does Georgia overthink that much?' Deborah wondered because it wasn't stated that clearly in the book.
"Alpha. You know you are forced to attend the party tonight so you have to get ready. You've hated the idea ever since my husband told you about it," Emily said with a calm voice.
Deborah looked away deep in thought. 'I remember that it's in Georgia's memory'
Suddenly, she felt the urge to ask about her son. 'Why am I feeling Georgia?' Deborah asked herself. 'It feels like, I'm really Georgia because I can feel her more than I can feel myself'
'Idiot, this is your body now!' Deborah scolded herself.
'Besides, my previous life isn't that interesting, I just can't fall in love with any guy, they all suck!'
'Just like that crazy unfortunate Alpha, they all suck, and if I had the chance to teach…'
'Wait…'
Deborah looked into the mirror again. 'I am Georgia!' she said to herself as if she was just learning that.
'Be careful…shit! The little girl…what a witch!'
'I really did die…so it's true, people do die in their sleep without being killed by anything. Their lives just ended like old people do. So basically I did have a short life and before I died…oh, shit…I wished to be in Georgia's position'
Deborah closed her eyes, feeling disappointed and regretful about her wish.
'But your wish actually gave you another chance to live' This message just entered her mind.
'That's true. I had a short life and made a simple crazy wish and now I'm Georgia and…I think I have the power to make this story mine. I don't need to follow the book, which means I can make that crazy Alpha pay for what he did to Georgia…no, I'm Georgia…me'
'This is crazy'
Deborah found it absurd. 'I am transmigrated after death and now I have a chance to live as Georgia'
Deborah, still thinking about her new life, felt Emily's hand around her back. "Georgia," Emily uttered, facing her in the mirror.
The new Georgia looked at the reflection of the woman behind her, 'I feel so connected and vulnerable around her, this must be Georgia's feeling. So this means that despite having control over Georgia's body, Georgia has an effect on my mind and emotions. Interesting'
Georgia smiled. "I'll just get ready, Emily, you don't need to worry so much. Everything is going to change and it starts now," Georgia's smile widened.
"You can go now, let me have my bath…I shouldn't be late," Georgia convinced Emily that she was fine with the expression on her face.
Emily smiled in return and walked out of the room.
Afterward, Georgia stood up and looked around. "This is my life now," she said to herself, looking at every corner of the room. "I am Georgia," she said. "And I'll make this life beautiful just as I did in my previous life. It was just so unfortunate to have that kind of life only for it to be short," she grimaced. "Well, I'm given a new chance and it is time for me to teach Theodore a lesson he'd never forget!"
Georgia walked in the direction of the bathroom. She also didn't know if she should be excited to start a new life.
Georgia's friends were the only good thing in Georgia's previous life and now that she was gone and in a new body, the good thing in her life was her son and she needed to cherish him.
This was her life now, there was nothing she could do. Georgia couldn't go back because she was dead and now she had to make this life better than her previous life.
Georgia remembered Theodore and gritted her teeth and she stood in front of the mirror naked. "He's going to regret rejecting me," a smirk curled up on her lips.
Georgia then studied herself. Just as the author said, Georgia had flawless glowing skin, but her face wasn't as pretty and Georgia believed it was because of the babyish hairstyle she wore.
Georgia's lips were sexy and red as roses, perfect face, no tattoos, no piercings except for the ears.
"I love this body," Georgia uttered. "But I need to adjust some things," she uttered before turning around to check the size of her butt.
Georgia gasped. "Nice, bigger than mine," she laughed and checked every part of her body. Georgia believed that she was sexy, yes, sexy.
