Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Black Widow's Mission

Underground parking.

Happy was looking in the rearview mirror, fiddling with the already sparse hairstyle on his head.

He came with Tony today to attend a military hearing.

While he was fumbling, the passenger door opened.

"No need to do this, if you can't, I'll find you the best hospital for a hair transplant."

"But Happy, have you ever thought that the lack of testosterone might not be a problem with your hair."

Being Tony's best friend for many years, Happy has long been used to Tony's venomous words.

At the same time, he was very grateful to Tony for helping him with his work.

"I thought you weren't coming back until after dinner."

"How was the hearing?"

Tony waved his hand, "You should know that I don't like the food in this place."

"Not really, I wasted the day, you might as well have gone to the circus and watched a clown show."

"The clowns in the circus are better actors than they are."

Tony could guarantee that if the Defense Minister had heard these words, another person would have come up and beaten himself.

The thought had just occurred to him.

There was a knock on the car window.

This immediately scared Tony, and he turned his head to see that it was the beautiful reporter.

Tony rolled down the window: "What can I do for you?".

The pretty reporter grimaced and replied: "Mr. Stark, I'm free today."

"I just took two days off from my superiors."

A look of disgust appeared on Tony's face.

He was just teasing her because he was bored and she took it seriously.

"Sorry, I'm not free!"

With that, Tony was ready to close the car window.

Seeing this scene, Happy immediately replied from the side, "Hey, I'm free."

"How about we have dinner together tonight?"

The pretty reporter looked at Happy, and then turned away with an expression of disgust on her face.

The action was not delayed at all.

This immediately elicited genuine laughter from Tony.

"Hahahahaha..."

"Okay, Tony, don't laugh."

"It's not the first time this has happened, but I don't understand why girls reject me every time."

"Maybe next time I can pick up a girl instead of you."

"Then I thank you, where are we going now?"

Tony took a deep breath: "You're welcome, let's go home first."

"By the way, where did you put that bottle of booze that I asked you to put away?"

"Here, take it yourself."

Tony took the bottle from the armrest and, opening it, took a long sip.

"Tony, the taste is a little off."

"What are you drinking?"

Tony didn't explain, just said casually, "A special drink, guys can't drink it without women."

And again a joke.

"Come on."

After finishing his chlorophyll, Tony picked up the phone that had a message from Jarvis on it.

"The combination of elements failed, we are trying new possibilities."

Tony's mood worsened.

After turning off the phone, he just closed his eyes and relaxed, his mind somehow remembering the conversation he had with Alex that night.

"Maybe he really has an idea?"

In the face of death, even if the odds were only a billion to one, Tony wanted to try.

"Tony, what are you talking about?"

Happy, who was driving, didn't understand what Tony was talking about.

"Nothing, just drive."

Same time.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. ship, in Nick Fury's office.

A slender woman in an agent's uniform with wavy red hair stood dancing in front of him.

"Romanov, you did a great job with this mission."

"Did this assignment of mine make you satisfied?"

In the face of his opponent's reciprocal hostility, Nick Fury could not find a single point to refute.

All because in front of him was one of the most outstanding agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. under the code name Black Widow.

The best in every way.

Including body and appearance.

Especially when the goal of the mission was a man - both of these qualities were her absolute virtues.

"Are there any new tasks for me?"

Nick Fury took a folder out of his drawer: "It's even easier, you just need to look after someone for me."

"The rest is on my command until you start acting."

Black Widow scrolled through the information and looked at Nick Fury with some surprise: "Tony Stark?"

"Yes, that's him."

"There are all the details of the mission, I'm sure he will have thoughts about you the first moment he sees you."

The Black Widow, without raising her eyes, looked at the information in the folder: "Okay. I'll take this assignment."

"Is there anything else you want to explain?"

"No. Come down and get ready."

Just as the Black Widow was about to leave, there was a knock on the door and Nick Fury's assistant came in.

"Chief, there seems to be a little problem."

Not interested in the conversation between them, the Black Widow left the office.

Hill gave him the information: "On Kingpin's side, several people from his entourage are dead."

"He's currently promoting several new people to take their place."

Given Kingpin's strength, he was naturally on the S.H.I.E.L.D. watch list, it's just that he usually didn't do much.

Therefore, all this time Nick Fury did not make it a priority.

Nick Fury skimmed through the information and then asked: "Do you know how they all died?".

Hill shook her head: "Just that they went to a meeting in the country with him and that night."

"It looks like maybe Kingpin is trying to shuffle his own forces, don't worry about him yet."

"The police department has to deal with this, we have nothing to do with it."

Nick Fury said it with ease, and as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he really had the right to do it.

"How's it going with the Hulk?"

"Dr. Banner is now working as a doctor in a small mountain village in the Middle East after escaping from the encirclement of the military."

"Don't worry about him, just keep an eye on him."

"Report any changes immediately, this information is classified as top secret and is not subject to disclosure to the military."

"Got it, Chief."
