The impact left him bruised on his feet, his left foot trying hard to find the balance. As he limped away from the creature. One of the creature's sharp teeth had pierced him and blood flowed out from the hole.
It was good that the impact from his kick had found the already torn away part of its jaw that had been created by his first attempt to pierce the creature.
The creature struggled in pain, the face half torn apart, blood deep red, almost blackish red flowed from its opened wounds and Miguel found himself trying to find the spear. He saw it, onto the side of the creature's body, snapped.
He had lost his weapon, but even the creature was writhing in pain. Miguel moved toward the forest of flowers, limping again and again.
He could feel the sweetness of the blood in his mouth. His lungs burned, his clothes had been torn apart due to the blood that flowed from its body. At last he found himself clawing his way inside the field of flowers.
After he was inside, he grasped on one of the stems to get up again. Coughing up blood from his mouth. He saw the creature, as it stood straight now. Its body disoriented, blood flowed from its abdomen, where Miguel had pierced it. Its half torn face looked more menacing under the moonlight.
Its gray eyes, almost dull, bore straight into his eyes.
One step, two steps. The creature drew slow steps, but Miguel knew it wouldn't be long before the creature found its strength again. He left the stem he had been grasping with his hands, and moved deeper, grasping one stem and another.
The stem took the full weight of his body. He looked toward the creature. It stood still. It was still looking at him. But he was at the boundary.
And just as he had thought, the creature didn't enter the boundary as it stood there waiting for him.
He was moving deeper, slowly but surely. He would turn to face the creature from time to time, each time its body smaller and further away from him.
Miguel stood still, after he was a long distance away from the creature, but as he looked at the creature, he found it moving forward.
It took one step, and then it looked toward the sky. Its half torn mouth, opening wide apart.
"Krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkiiiiiireeeeeeeee" The sharp shrill of the gray-eyed creature invaded every corner of the area. THe field of flowers, the ground, the outside area and even the skies.
"Argh!" Miguel held his ears shut. Even then blood dripped from it, the sharp shrilling voice of the monster, traveling to the deepest part of his held fears.
His entire being flooded with alarm, as he moved farther and farther away. Away from the creature, whom he had last seen entering the flower fields.
Miguel found himself, trying hard to get far away from the place. The place he was going toward was more denser, and thus he had always consciously avoided it, as it looked more dangerous to Miguel. The plants were thicker, more taller. And thus it reached greater heights.
He was in no shape to climb the plant and as such he needed to hide behind the thicker stems to avoid getting detected by the creature.
He didn't know what that creature had done by making that shrill sound. Even if it was some anger toward himself, he didn't know. He wasn't in a good situation to even fight the creature in front. He could feel himself weakening. He needed to find a place to rest.
After traveling for hours inside the dense vegetation. Miguel plopped himself on the ground, the sharp pain radiating from his chest toward every inch of his body. He took sharp breaths.
The excruciating pain, as well as the sense of darkness in the environment, dulled his senses in the comfort of its peace. His upper body resting onto the thick trunk like stems.
Try as he might, he wasn't properly able to open his eyes, to take observations of his surroundings. With each minute, he found it even more difficult to concentrate his vision. The sense of sight grew blurry, each blink took more seconds. Until he found himself drifting into a peaceful sleep.
Miguel woke up with the start, something alerted his body. He opened his eyes to look in front of him. The pain radiated sharper on his chest.
There was a creature sitting on his chest. It wasn't the gray-eyed, but something else. The creature looked at him curiously.
It was small, almost the size of his fists. It was tilting its head from side to side. Its eyes were beady and too big for its face, there were cute ears on his head that looked like that of a rat.
Its body was thin, Miguel could see its small feets, stretching far more than what was possible.
For a moment both just looked at each other. Miguel could feel that the creature was just looking at him curiously and had no intention of doing something to him. That was then, Miguel heard something.
Sharp screams rang out from far away. And it wasn't just this one, more and more sounds came one after the other. Miguel had no choice but to get himself to stand up.
He wanted to take away the creature from its chest and put it on the ground. But Miguel found that he couldn't get his hands on the creature even when he wanted. Even after several attempts where he grew frustrated each second, he could only see the creature only looking at him in deep confusion. He stood up not caring anymore about the creature.
Miguel had thought that creature would definitely try to get away from him in order to avoid falling. In his disbelief the creature was still clinging to his chest. With its legs glued on his chest, it was horizontal to the ground, but as if the gravity couldn't affect him, it looked unperturbed.
"Kiaaaaaaiiiiiiih" The sound of screams were coming nearer. Miguel had a feeling it wasn't just screaming, it was like the creature was getting desperate, as its voice varied each time.
Miguel could feel the shadows, in the far distance, among the stems. Looking for his trace, but he just hid himself, his eyes the only thing still looking at the shadows.
It didn't take long for the shadows to disappear from there. Miguel wasn't calm at the moment. He knew that it wouldn't be long before the creature found himself. And looking at his own condition, he was in no shape to fight the creature.
Miguel looked toward his chest in search of the clinging creature, but he couldn't find it. 'It must have fled listening to the screams.' Miguel thought as he prepared to go further in the darkness.
It wasn't long before, the only light source he could see were the lightning insects, roaming about.
It was a beautiful sight to behold. The insects were dancing around in harmony. Following each other in random patterns.
But Miguel had no time to admire the beauty of it. He followed the trailing of the insects as he was going toward the unknown.
The stems felt more solid around here like they had grown to become actual trunks of a tree. But there were still thorns on them, that acted as actual footholds, that were more difficult to climb, especially in his condition.
Each climb took something more from him. His chest ached from the stress, but it didn't bleed. His self healing had already enclosed the blood flowing out of his chest.
Miguel was on his seventh step, when he heard the shrills once again. And this time he realized that it wasn't that the creature was desperate because it was constantly changing voices, but there were many of them surrounding every part of the fields.
Only one was terrifying enough for him. He had almost lost his life to it. But now there were many of them, and all of them seemed to be searching for him. Were they kidding him?
He sped up his climbing, as he got to his eighth step. As he looked down he could see a creature roaming about, and it wasn't the one he had injured. It was complete and it found him. Miguel had no time to spare as he took another step.
His chest pained too much for his comfort. Between his groans, he looked behind to see that the creature had disappeared from where he had seen it.
It wasn't before he could feel the rustle on the nearby plants. The force of it was strong enough to actually shake them up. Cold sweat dripped from his body. The creature he had seen was nowhere strong enough to actually shake up the plants.
This one was powerful, definitely too powerful than the creature. And he would die instantly if he met this creature.
