Chereads / Awakening of the Dragon God / Chapter 2 - First Question!

Chapter 2 - First Question!

Darkness filled with stars glowing in the distance was everywhere. There wasn't even a ground, even though Sam could casually walk around.

'Where am I?' he thought.

Suddenly two massive glowing reptilian eyes appeared up in the distant void.!

"Welcome, Human! I am the one and only Dragon God of Cardica."

Instincts inside Sam flared up, causing him to take a few steps back as he placed his right hand on his waist, ready to take his gun out and kill whoever is trying to intimidate him with his presence.

Thundering laughter echoed through the emptiness, "Hahahaha, aren't you a funny human? Have I picked a gem between those rotten pieces of meat or what? Hahaha!"

However, the laugh only lasted for a few seconds as it was soon replaced by a threatening tone, which sent shivers running down Sam's spine," Even though those were your instincts, I still do not tolerate lowly beings acting in such a manner in front of me, do that action again, and my deal will be off, which will obviously mean your death!"

' What is this place, and who am I even talking to? Did I somehow manage to survive that gunshot and now laying in a hospital dreaming of something weird or what?' Sam started racking his brain to get some information out of this situation, but his thoughts were quickly interrupted before he even got to place the pieces together.

" Human, I don't have much time to waste, and he will probably find out about you and torture me if we drag this out any longer; just keep in mind that you died, and the only reason why you are alive is because of me." The cold voice that had no hint of empathy inside of it sounded again, waking Sam to reality.

" Did you just read my mind..?" Sam tried to ask as he looked at the two massive glowing reptilian eyes up in the distant voice, but he shockingly found out that his mouth couldn't open, and no words came out, even though he clearly spoke right now.

And then a thundering voice spoke again, " Human, you are the last hope of us great and mighty dragons. The last of the dragons living in the mortal plane sacrificed themself to ask me for a favor!!! And I, as Progenitor and God of all Dragons, can't let all of the inferior species rule the mortal plane!!! So I accepted their sacrifice and summoned your soul from a neighboring world created by him to show humans what a True Dragon is capable of."

His voice suddenly became a little gentler and lower in volume, even though it would be hard to notice in normal situations. Given the fact that only the Dragon God and Sam were at this place, Sam clearly noticed the change." I'll allow three questions to be asked as a gift before I send you to Cardica as a True Dragon. However, keep in mind, if you dare to waste even more of my time thinking about your current situation, I'll instantly kill you and replace you with another human, be smart."

Sam calmed himself down after he heard everything the voice said, but he honestly didn't know what to think of this situation for some time.

" Think, don't think. Listen, don't listen. You are too concerned with what was and what will be. There is a saying. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift. That is why I called the three questions a gift. And you should consider this moment a gift yourself, so don't waste your life and die just because you are too concerned about this situation."

He stood like statue in his place, not knowing how to react, and only after the Dragon God spoke again did he regain his composure and asked what he wished to know.

" Your words are wise, Dragon God of Cardica. For my first question. What is this place, and what is my situation." Sam asked, taking the advice of this being who called himself a Dragon God.

He was a 35 years old man who had a good amount of experience in life, and he surely could differ between a dream and not. Plus, he could clearly recall one of his colleagues under the assassin organization he used to work for killing his roommate in front of him before he heard a gunshot and his vision turned blurry. His conscience was gone at that point, and he only got it back at this moment; he didn't even know how long it had been since that day.

He had already expected such a thing to happen the moment his arms were no more viable for his work as an assassin in the first place, and with this Dragon God who affirmed his thoughts and made him recall his last moments in life, realization quickly downed on him.

The two massive glowing reptilian eyes didn't even blink for a moment, but Sam didn't speak up and kept waiting for this being to answer.

Then an immense, terrifying pressure descended upon the emptiness, "This is my cage, created for the sole reason of suppressing me for all eternity; I cannot elaborate more on the person who did such a thing, or else he will feel it so I won't go into details. This information should be enough for you, and I even did you a small favor since you asked two questions instead of one, but I'll let this one slide. Now I'll answer your real first question, ' What is your situation'!"

"Inferior species always fought in inferior unfair ways, slowly hunting dragons for our mighty and perfect bodies to use them as a way to increase their own inferior power."

"Dragons were dying one by one until only a few remained! Then beings that reached the peak of their world showed up! They were like an impenetrable mountain. No matter how many dragons attacked, they still won given their immense strength. In the beginning, they were a bit wary of us, but after they realized their true power and that dragons are now inferior to them even in a one-against-one fight, they began frantically hunting dragons down."

"When only a few dragons remained in Cardica, they decided to do the most dragon thing one can do."

"They sacrificed themself to a magical power ritual that would enact their vengeance and return dominance of dragons above Cardica!"

" And here comes your situation. I'm gonna place your soul inside of a True Dragon body that I just created, and in exchange for the life I'm about to bestow upon you, all you have to do is become the strongest and suppress all the human race into submission, bringing back order to Caridca."

'Exchange, huh? I had no choice in this matter the moment I stepped in here; he is probably just being nice.' Sam thought as he digested the information.

The Dragon God smirked after reading his mind, but he didn't comment on them. After all, he was right; he had no choice. It's either he accepts his situation or dies, and the choice everyone will make in such a situation is obvious.

' But it doesn't sound so bad, this "exchange of his."' Sam couldn't even start pondering about his situation before he sensed his mind losing control over his body, and he instantly recalled his warning.

" For my second question, how do I become strong enough to suppress these insanely powerful people," Sam asked.

Phew!

He sighed in relief after he noticed that his mind had regained control over his body, and he couldn't help but feel a little terrified. Yet, at the same time, excitement was written on his face; even his body was uncontrollably shivering as he thought about the words the Dragon God said and the term 'strongest' that he had just used.
