At the same time as he went to sleep, Sam's body trembled; his eyes were wide open as he was immediately brought back to reality, not even having a few minutes of peaceful sleep.
At this moment, a large wave of memories surged into Sam's mind and fused with his own.
This memory flow was very majestic and contained all kinds of knowledge that Sam found a little unbelievable at first. The sensation came and went quickly. And in just a few seconds, he returned to his senses.
'Dragon inheritance… I've turned into a shadow Dragon… The thin platinum scales around my neck that look like a necklace are proof of my immense talent.'
The large amount of knowledge and information he had just received made Sam understand his situation a lot better. Or better say that he now understood a few things about dragons.
However, before he could even digest the information he had just received and think deeply about his situation and his future actions, he noticed that his body refused to move no matter how many times he wished to.
' Damn it, how, when!'
Sam's mind almost blanked out as he noticed someone looking at him curiously in the eyes while another one was carefully checking out every fiber of his body.
It looked weird at first, but when Sam carefully followed his movements, he realized that he looked like someone who was an expert in animals. Just from the way his hands moved around his thin scales and behind his horns was enough proof for that.
' How did I not notice them approaching? Damn it, it's all because of that eggshell forcing me to fall asleep in the open. The scent of a dragon might work on beasts, but for humans, on the other hand, it does the opposite effect, which is luring them in.'
Sam's brain began running at full speed as he thought of anything he could use to save him from this predicament, but even after racking his brain for seconds, he didn't come up with anything.
Hell, he couldn't even move an inch of his body right now, much less manage to flee from this place.
' Let's hope they won't kill a precious baby dragon that might be of use to them in the future.'
Sam prayed to whoever god was watching over him at this moment that nothing would go wrong.

As Sam's eyes fluttered open and his body shook for a while, the muscular middle-aged man who was checking out the baby dragon in front of him shot a cold glance at his colleague, clearly demanding an explanation.
" Hey, don't look at me that way; I'm quite confident that the drug I gave him has no issues with it. This must be some kind of weird reaction to the plants I used to make the drug. Plus, look at him; it wouldn't be surprising that he would have such a reaction; this baby dragon looks like he has royal bloodline."
The thin-looking man who looked to be around his thirties and wearing a white robe made of expensive leather, quickly raised his hands in front of him as he explained the situation.
The middle-aged man's expression relaxed quite a bit after he heard his colleague's words and went back to doing his job, not helping it but commenting on what he was seeing in front of him.
" Derek, I'm pretty sure we hit the jackpot this time. This black dragon will easily be sold for 500k gold in the main city's auction. In fact, I'm pretty confident that the royal family will immediately buy him out without a shred of hesitation."
Derek's body trembled in excitement after he heard his friend's words, and couldn't resist the urge to inquire more about this baby dragon in front of him.
" Are you telling me that all of the dragon eggs that hatched in our farms can't even compare to this one, Don? What makes you think that? I don't see anything special about him except for his bloodline, which numerous dragons had."
The muscular middle-aged man chuckled as he heard his friend's words, his hand slowly moving to the sharp object lying down on his right, hidden from Derek's line of sight, to show him something.
" Yeah, you se..."
Shing!
Puff!
A silvery arrow made of unknown materials penetrated Don's neck before he could lift the object his hands were going for, blood gushing out from the small holes that the arrow couldn't cover like a miniature fountain, painting the black dragon beneath him in red.
" Wh.. Aghh"
Don tried to speak, but no voice came out; his bloodshot eyes full of anger and hatred finally locked into his friend's face, only to see an expression full of greed, a hint of excitement even visible in his eyes.
" Ohh, Don, don't look at me like that; you were thinking the same thing as me, weren't you? We have known each other for years, and I'm pretty sure we both know each other's personalities by now."
Derek Calmy said as he moved to the left of his friends' dying body to show that he anticipated what he was about to do, only to be briefly shocked in the process.
" Oh, it appears like I made a grave mistake; your hand was actually moving to the needle to show me more about the black dragon's rarity, not your sword. Hehe, it seems like I didn't trust you enough."
The moment he finished speaking, Don's body dropped on top of the baby dragon like a huge rock.
Luckily for Sam, he didn't feel any pain after the huge frame of the middle-aged man's body hit him, thanks to some of the drug effects still lingering inside of his body.
Yet, if one contracted on his eyes for a few seconds, they would notice a hint of joy hidden deep inside of them.
'Phew! That was such a close call; it seems that I'm safe for now.'
His mind was greatly relaxed after he heard the two people a little bit earlier talking about his price in the auction and comparing him to other baby dragons.
