I wake up to the view of the ocean illuminated by the late sunrise. This view will never get old. As much as I would love to admire the view, I need to start my journey as a Pokem… err I mean a Gamer. I freshen up with a quick shower, have a snack even though I don't really need to eat, and arrive at the spot I spawned in, when I first came to the Hub. "Game, initiate the world jump to the High School of the Dead universe".
[Are you sure? Make sure your mentally prepared, you will only know the time period after the jump]
I check my inventory, status and skills to make sure I am not lacking anything. "I'm ready".
[Noted. Initiating World Jump…..]
I felt the surroundings around me warp and then find myself outside a typical Japanese style school building, in the night.
[Highschool of the Dead world unlocked!]
[Timeline: The night before the pandemic. 15 hours remaining until pandemic starts]
[
World Quest Created: Apocalyptic World Heist
In an apocalypse, everyone's goal is to survive. Not yours. Yours is too loot.
Mandatory Tasks: (Required for next World Jump)
Loot all the major banks in the world
Optional Tasks:
Discover the mysterious item in the CERN facility.
Reward:
Task 1: 30 billion credits
Task 2: Unlock new skills related to the Electrokinesis class.
]
So on top of the credits I would get from converting the loot, I also get additional credits? That's a crazy cheat. Also my theory of quests being based on personal ambition proves to be right. I am glad it is, since I don't want to be a slave to a system controlling my actions. This life will be full of freedom unlike my last one.
I look at the streets around me. They are mostly empty, except for a few students fooling around drunk. I sense a presence behind me and dodge a punch. So that's how observation haki works. Pretty neat.
An obese asian dude with beady eyes glares at me with a malicious grin. With a thick stereotypical accent he speaks. "Oi, drop arr the varuabres you have. My dads the big shot congressman over here and wirr deport you back to the carr center you crawled out from. Strip down and hand me everything on you".
Call Center? Oh since I imported my previous looks, I still have my caramel South Asian skin. Time to test out my new Conqueror's haki on Kimmie. I feel the anger pent up inside me and release it outside my body. I redirect this 'anger' towards the creature ahead of me. With a shriek shaming the Goose King, he falls down pissing his pants. He starts to uncontrollably spasm like a fish on the ground, while choking his neck as foam oozes from his mouth. Conqueror's Haki is overpowered.
"My uncle has access to the Indian Nuclear Arsenal. If you don't spit out all the cash you have, including all your credit and debit cards, with their pin and your cell phone, your dad will be responsible for the next major tragedy in Japanese history". I don't want to be racist but this guy brought race into the conversation. The fat vermin hurridley throws out the demanded items and scrams. I extract any useful information like personal and bank information from the phone, reset it and throw out the SIM card, to prevent any tracking. I should head to the bank before he locks all his accounts.
I head to the bank and withdraw all the money in his bank accounts as cash and deposit it into my inventory. The thug student was bloated and I got a million dollars or 1000 credits from all his accounts. I even took out a 10 million dollar loan in his name, not that it would matter to him in a few hours due to the incoming apocalypse. I now have 11,200 credits(1 credit = 1000 USD) in total. I then head to a 24/7 Internet Cafe and rent a booth for 13 hours. I need to find as many locations of all major banks as I can, before the internet goes down because of the apocalypse.
I start by finding the location of all major Japanese banks since my mandatory task requires robbing the Japanese banks and then look for the American banks, then the European, then the Chinese and finally the Middle Eastern and Indian banks. I save the location of all CERN facilities and all its satellite imagery in my new phone. I also purchased a 1 zetabyte(trillion GB) microSD card for 2 credits from the [Shop] to download the entirety of G. Maps into my phone. I never knew a microSD card of this size could ever exist. But that's laughable compared to the next item I bought. An AI hacker flash drive for the low price of just 10 credits. I insert the flash drive into the cafe PC and a prompt similar to ChatGPT asking me what I want to do, appears.
I type in "Find any hidden vaults of money and precious metals. Then gather all the information on the internet that would be valuable in an apocalypse. Save all this information to the 1 zetabyte microSD card on my phone". I hit Enter and a ping from my phone lets me know that all the information hacked is being downloaded to my phone. Amazing, breaking into govt and company servers would take years for the average hacker but the AI flashdrive does it in a millionth of the time. I wonder which advanced futuristic civilization does this flash drive and MicroSD card come from. As the AI gathers the required data, I continue gathering information of the banks to rob and any other info that might be helpful and save it to my phone. After 10 hours a ping on my phone lets me know that all the tasks have been completed. I look at the window to see the sunrise. I still have 2 hours left until the pandemic hits.
I deposit the phone and flash drive into my inventory, to prevent them from being hit by the EMP wave once the apocalypse starts. I exit the internet cafe and using Transformation Jutsu, robbed a convenience store clean and deposited all the food in my inventory. This should last me for more than a decade since I only eat for entertainment. Also food is the new currency in an apocalypse, so it should be useful in case I need something from survivor groups. I decide to take it easy for the two hours remaining and stroll through a park enjoying the cherry blossoms. The sounds of children playing adds a special peaceful ambience. I feel sad that this wouldn't be the case in 2 more hours. However I won't be playing hero, as people are always ungrateful no matter what you do, thus making it a waste of time. A 'hero' isn't free and is chained down by the expectations of society.
I lay down on the grass and sunbathe for an hour and a half. For the next 20 minutes, I then make my way towards an abandoned cell tower I found about the night before. It is the perfect location to wait out the initial shock of the apocalypse since it's away from any settlement and roads, so that cars don't crash into me. I climb the tower for the next few minutes and finally reach the top. The view of Tokonosu city is spectacular- it's a mid-size city overlooking the ocean. A menu then appears before me, while I was admiring the view.
[Apocalypse begins]
Just as the menu disappears, I hear multiple screams and explosions across the city. The sirens then blare with inaudible Japanese probably warning everyone to evacuate. The screams and explosions continue for a good hour until their frequency slowly dies down. The reason I waited this long was for the initial shock to disable the first target bank's personnel. I make my way down the tower and head towards my first target- the Tokonosu Regional Bank.
I reach the bank and as expected the security post has been abandoned. I casually stroll through the entrance, cross the security and find myself in front of a door made up of reinforced steel-concrete. Next to the handle lies an electronic safe handle lock. This defense would most likely deter most thieves but with Electric Manipulation this would be childsplay to disable. Entering a semi-meditative state I focus on the electric signals around me. I then focus on the signal from the lock and mentally envision it going off. I hear multiple clicks and the vault door bursts open. Easy. I make sure I haven't been tailed using Observation Haki before entering the vault.
I enter the vault and am surrounded by more money and gold than I have ever seen. Although the money is worthless in this world, the amount of credits I would get from this will buy me a ton of overpowered skills. Heck I think I can even afford the nuclear submarine I saw back in the dock shop with all this wealth. As much as I want to remove my clothes and jump into the pool of money, I want to rob as many banks as I can before any hostile survivor groups come to annoy me. Also other than the tiddies, this world is depressing as fuck and I want to move on to a more interesting and fun world as soon as possible.
I create 30 shadow clones to store all the money in my inventory faster. Luckily I just have to touch each money stack and it gets stored in an instant. After 20 minutes, I'm done. That would have taken at least 10 hours to do by myself. I open my inventory and whistle. There's a total of 20 billion dollars in my inventory, officially making me the youngest billionaire and richest robber at age 20. Walking further into the vault to see if I missed anything, I am met with the sight of gold bars. Using the same way I stored the money, I collect the gold and have 10000 bullions in my inventory. Another great thing about the inventory is that it auto counts everything.
[Bank successfully robbed +200 exp]
I get exp for robbing a bank?
[Yes. The amount of exp depends on the difficulty of robbing each bank]
I exit the bank and using G. Maps walk towards the next target. After walking for 10 minutes, I realize that I am an idiot. The next bank is in the next town which is a good 50 km from here. My superhuman stats wouldn't make running a problem but using a vehicle would be much faster. I forgot to mention that you can summon any vehicles from the garage in front of you. The Kawasaki dirt bike could do the job but would create a lot of noise and attract the dead. Fortunately I now have the money to buy a quiet electric bike. I convert all the money in my inventory and net 20 million credits to my name. I then purchase a Zero S electric motorcycle for 12 credits and zoom through the streets. And this thing is fast. The acceleration is absolutely insane. Using Observation Haki I zipped 200 km/h through the crowded highways, evading any abandoned cars and the undead. Because of this I reach the next target in 20 minutes.
The next bank is no different from the previous one and nets me 25 million credits. Robbing another 5 banks with ease, increases my total net worth to 200 million credits or 200 billion dollars and allows me to level up from the exp gained. Even if I can't use the money in this apocalyptic world, I can buy anything in the multiverse from food to vehicles, in the [Shop]. Everything about this system is broken.
A groan interrupts my pondering as I effortlessly kill said undead with Electric Manipulation. The sky is now dark. If I recall correctly, the zombies are more active at night. I could just keep robbing for months straight without a care about rest, but if you have a luxurious mansion in a peaceful Hub world, why not make full use of it? I think I did plenty for now- having a blast riding the electric bike I always wanted and robbing a ton of banks along the way. I am going to laze a little and return when it's bright again.
I return to the Hub and am greeted by the beach and the sunset. I decide to have a little bit of fun before resting. I head to the dock and buy a SeaDoo Spark for a mere 6 credits. The jetski has only 60 horsepower but since I have never ridden any marinecraft before, I am not taking any chances. As I complete the purchase from the Store, a jet black jet ski with green accents appears on one of the docks slips.
I hop on the machine, turn on the ignition and move the throttle ahead slowly. I navigate my way outside the marina/dock and once there's only water surrounding me I fully turn the throttle, all the way to the end. The jetski jolts forward, almost throwing me off. Looks like I seriously underestimated 60 horsepower since I forgot that water has less resistance than land. I grin as the jetski speeds deeper into the ocean towards the sunset. The view is breathtaking as I cut through the orange illuminated water as the smell of seawater invades my nose. I make abrupt quick turns to simulate my adrenaline and surf any incoming waves to have a bit of fun. After a while, I get bored and turn off the ignition and look towards the shore. Since I am a kilometer away I could see the coastline extending for miles without any end. Looks like the game wasn't kidding when it said that the hub is an infinite world. I then look towards the ocean and see a green barrier a few hundred meters ahead of me. I turn on the ignition and make my way towards the barrier. As I pass the barrier, a menu popup appears.
[Dungeon: Magikarp unlocked]
I dismiss the popup and a Magikarp with dead angry eyes jumps at me aiming to slam it's hard body on my forehead. I decide to test out my [Armament Haki] this time, instead of using my Electrokinesis abilities. I try to focus on the different energy I felt other than my mana. It was hard to activate but instead of accessing the circulating mana in my body, I focused on the energy I felt in the corner of my mind and redirected it to my left fist. My fist turns harder than the steel-concrete alloy used for the vaults, emitting sparks of energy which I can assume to be spiritual energy. I punch the incoming magikarp with full force destroying its body into millions of shrapnel of bones and scales. Can I reinforce anything with Armament Haki?
[+20 exp]
Fuck it. I just wanted to have a nice sunset jet ski ride for relaxation. However since I am here I might as well clear the dungeon. This time I try channeling the spiritual energy into the front of the hull of the jetski through my legs. My experiment is a success as the hull emits a black metallic shine and emits the same red sparks of energy depicted in the anime. I didn't think reinforcing the Seadoo with armament haki would work, but it did.
The splashing sounds ahead of me, alert me of an incoming school of magikarp. I turn the throttle to full speed and the jetski, enforced with armament haki, races forwards and hits the first magikarp. The fish is knocked out cold upon contact and thrown several yards into the ocean. Without losing momentum, I zigzag around the school of fish, knocking them in one hit with my haki-reinforced Seadoo. After 10 minutes, I knocked out the last magikarp.
I slow down and let my hands off the throttle as the Seadoo eventually halts. Catching my breath, I take a look at the loot. I didn't get much other than some exp and a few credits. Though the credits are nothing, compared to the loot from the banks. The best part however is that I used a fucking Seadoo for combat. Has anyone else ever done that? Maybe I should incorporate using vehicles into my fighting style more often.
A loud roar echoes underneath me as I am thrown along with the jetski into the air. From my peripheral vision it seems to be a giant blue worm with an open mouth. Isn't that a Gyrados? Forget that I should probably find a way to not die by slamming into the ocean from 500 meters in the air. With my 103 STR stat, I try my best to reposition the hull midair, to point towards the monster. I then coat the hull with haki and using half my mana use Electric Release to coat the hull with cackling deadly electricity. The jet ski dashes down at a high speed due to the gravity, before hitting the neck of the beast.
[Critical Hit -9000 HP! ]
[Gyrados: 1000/10000 HP]
The beast roars in rage and starts splashing violently in the water. Because of the higher mana put into the Electric Release, the attack was more potent than the one I used for the Goose King. The jetski surprisingly didn't take any damage, probably due to the Haki coating. I turn on the ignition and then dodge a water beam. I could just speed around with my jetski and assault it with electric release attacks but a better idea hits me. While dodging the water guns, using mental commands I navigate to the shop and buy a Master Ball for 50 credits. Heading closer to the Gyrados I throw the pokeball at it and watch it swallow the beast in a flash of red. The ball drops in the water, shaking for a bit before I finally hear a ping. Looks like I can catch Pokemon too.
[Dungeon Boss defeated]
[+25000 exp]
[Lvl up x5]
[Dungeon Magikarp Cleared]
[Reward: Skill book: Shunpo]
I feel my body become 'stronger' due to the level up. My muscles expand in size and I feel better in sync with the rest of my body. Now that I think about it, it's absolutely unreal how someone previously with a physique no different from the average joe, can now one shot a beast capable of wreaking havoc to cities, in less than two days. If this is the result of just two days of work, the me from a year from now, would be someone you didn't want to fuck with.
Making my way back to the shore, I then head to the park that was previously the goose dungeon. It was dark but using the Hub Settings I set the time back to sunset. Before calling it a day I wanted to learn Shunpo and do a little bit of practice with it. I currently don't have any way to be super agile in a fight. A high speed move like Shunpo can give me an edge against an opponent with superior strength as I can slowly charge a powerful attack using my shadow clones. I consumed the skill book and after the knowledge is imprinted in my mind, a menu appears.
[
Skill Learned: Shunpo
A movement technique which allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow.
Base Speed depends on the DEX of user
Extra speed can be achieved by inputting more mana into the skill. The more mana inputted, the higher the speed.
]
I redirect the mana to my feet and execute the skill. My vision then goes blurry, and I knock myself out on a tree. The speed was so quick that my senses couldn't keep up. I get up and try again, this time enhancing my senses with Observation Haki. My haki alerts me of any objects ahead of me, as I find myself in front of my home in less than 10 seconds. Amazingly, I covered a distance of 500m in just 10 seconds. Looks like I won't be needing my electric bike anymore. I head to bed and continue with my heist the next day.
