"You're quite ruthless master," Velris mentioned as we were strolling around the village.
"Am I?" I responded as I was looking around, searching for someone.
"Yes. You executed both people from the holy kingdom without mercy," Velris stated. "Those were the first two kills of my master that I have witnessed."
I smirked. "Make it three," Revenant shot out of the ground and grabbed a man hiding behind a pile of rocks.
"Unhand me heretic!" A man dressed in a dirt covered robe was flailing around as Revenant held him up.
I stabbed a dagger into his thigh. "Shut up and tell me about these items," I shoved the list of materials required to create an ego into his face.
"Agh!" the man screamed in pain before forcing himself to read the list. "These items can only be obtained by slaying an angel," the man hurriedly answered.
"Well, I wasn't expecting you to answer so easily," I said as I pocketed the list.
"I answered your question, so let me go!" the man demanded.
"Why would I do that?" I pulled out the dagger on the man's thigh. "Would you have left me live if I lost?"
"Ye-" the man didn't get to answer as Velris's hand went through his chest.
"That was quite brutal," I commented as Velris pulled her hand out and Revenant dropped the body on the ground. "Do you despise humans Velris?"
"No master. I despise any living being like him," Velris glared at the man's lifeless body.
I laughed. "At this rate, I'll become a villain in this story."
My goal is survival. If that meant needing to go against the protagonist of this world, then I would not hesitate.
"Let's head back," I said.
As we turned to the exit of the village, the residents crowded around us. An old man stepped forward. "We sincerely thank you for what you did for us."
[You have been acknowledged by the people]
[Reward: Mana cluster]
"How can we repay our savior?" the old man asked.
"Do you know where I can find angels?" I asked jokingly.
"There are savage angels in the dungeon at the far east of the forest, but I don't think that's what you mean," the old man responded.
My eyes widened. "That wasn't mentioned in the novel."
"What was that young man?"
"N-nothing. Can you tell me about the dungeon?" I asked.
The crowd seemed to be dispersing now that a conversation began. What was the point of the gathering anyway?
"It's a small dungeon that's quite a short distance away from here," the elder began explaining. "The angels are hard to deal with, and the dungeon is too small to have anything valuable, so the kingdom ignored its existence."
My eyes twitched. "Is the king that useless?" I wondered in annoyance. "Can anyone guide us there?"
"Of course, anything for our savior," the old man replied. "But first, have a rest. We will prepare a room for you at the inn."
"Thank you."
"What should we call our savior?"
I hummed in thought. "Zed would be just fine," I smiled.

"What is this?" Catherine Slywood asked as she was handed a report by her vassals.
"An incident happened regarding a first year," her vassal stated.
"The Gray family?" Catherine looked at the report in confusion. "If I remember correctly, Azazel Gray is a 2nd year."
"It's the second son duchess," the vassal corrected.
"Second son? Raveil Gray is still alive?"
"Yes. The magic tower stated that he has prolonged his life by awakening his aura," the vassal explained.
"And what did Raveil Gray say?" Catherine asked as she continued reading the file.
"I beg your pardon duchess?" The vassal looked confused.
"You mentioned that the magic tower stated the information. They weren't the ones who were cursed," Catherine glared at the vassal. "Why should I believe them when the person in question did not say anything?"
"I-I'll look into it, duchess!" The vassal bowed and hurriedly left.
Catherine sighed as she placed the report down on her desk. "Should I use it on him?" Catherine pondered as her newly awakened gift pulsed.
"Surely a curse like the Clockwork of death would greatly strengthen me."

[Task: Conquer the savage angels dungeon
Reward: ?]
"That better be good," I grumbled as I stood at the entrance of the dungeon.
"Would we be able to handle this dungeon master?" Velris asked.
"Do you have any combat experience?" I turned to her.
"N-no master, but I am still a rank 2."
"You're still going to wait here," I ordered. "Revenant will be doing most of the fighting anyway," I assured her.
Velris deflated. "Understood master."
"I'm just going to get what I need, then come back," I patted her on the head.
"Be careful master," Velris bowed.
I stepped past the entrance and continued inside. The dungeon walls were made of white stone that stood out in the forest outside, which made it weird that this place was never mentioned in the novel. The path was too narrow for flying angels, so I was certain that I would only start encountering them once I got deeper inside.
After a few minutes of walking, I was stopped by a deep hole. It was a giant chamber with a massive pillar in the center, connecting the roof and the bottom of the chamber, which wasn't even visible from where I was standing.
"No wonder nobody tried to conquer this place..." Unless the person could fly, they wouldn't even be able to go further. "Well... Revenant go do your thing," A black blur shot out of my shadow, while I just leaned against the wall and began to wait.
