Chereads / Curse devourer / Chapter 11 - Beat down

Chapter 11 - Beat down

Honestly, I don't consider myself a model student. After all, on the first day of class, I was in the middle of the underground market and made a demon my servant.

I guess my life is a little too eventful for the start of the novel. "If I remember correctly, the protagonist should be in class meeting her potential allies in the future," I muttered as I walked through the hallway.

"Hey!" I turned around to find a blonde woman glaring at me with her ocean blue eyes. "Why aren't you in class?"

"I could ask you the same thing," I responded before turning around and continued looking for the faculty room.

I didn't get the chance to react as something grabbed me and threw me out a window. I crashed on the dirt ground and barely got up just as the woman who threw me landed on the ground and created a shockwave that sent me tumbling.

"The hell is wrong with you!" I shouted.

"Rules should be enforced," she stated. "Physically," she cracked her knuckles.

"Wha-" In the blink of an eye, she was already in front of me and landed a punch to my gut.

I felt all the wind knock out of me. I tried to grab my sword, but before I could even get my hand on the handle, her leg slammed into the side of my face and made me spin midair. Then before I even landed on the ground, she grabbed one of my legs and threw me across the field.

Doing my best to orient myself in the air, I pulled out my sword and stabbed into the ground to slow down my flight and land. "Aura rush!" I blasted forward, but despite the increase in speed, the woman grabbed my face and slammed me into the ground. To make it worse, as I was laying on the ground, she kicked me and sent me rolling through the dirt.

I activated Eye of analysis

[Target is too strong to analyze]

"Fuck."

Once I got to my feet, she was already a mere inches away from me. I received a series of punches to my face, chest, stomach, and sides and it all happened in the span of a few seconds. Each strike was heavy and accurate, enough to make me feel like I was dying with every hit.

I glared at the ground as I heard her footsteps getting closer. I reached out to my sword, and the system knew exactly what I planned to do.

[Danger]

[Danger]

"Grave of swords!"

[Danger]

[Danger]

Aura wrapped around my sword, sparking violently as it surged. The woman felt the danger and drew her own sword, and a circular shield was conjured in her left hand. My blade lashed out towards her. She blocked the first three strikes with her shield with amazing accuracy and speed, then her shield shattered on the fourth strike. She parried another two strikes with her sword before it shattered as well, but that gave her enough time to create a new shield. Unfortunately for her, it shattered once again after five strikes, leaving the last strike to be blocked by her broken sword and sending her flying.

"Aaahhh!" I screamed in pain as my body felt like it was being ripped apart.

[Gift: Grave of swords cannot be handled user's body]

[Minimum requirement: Rank 3 level 10]

I could barely process the system message as I was literally dying.

As I was losing consciousness, the last thing I saw was a crowd forming in the distance.

------

My whole body felt numb, and I could feel a burning sensation in my chest. Each attempt at moving was met with a spike of pain that made me wince, then the phantom sensation of my body ripped to shreds surfaced. I tried to scream, but no sound came out.

[Divine grip has been completely devoured]

[Materials required for egofication: Blessed feather, Divine halo, Blessed iron, Luminous core]

I could only glare at the panels floating in front of me. I remembered using Curse devourer on Velris, and consuming a portion of the curse on the spot. But the events that happened next were like a nightmare. Some bitch attacked me for no reason and almost killed, then my own skill almost killed me.

"You're awake," I manage to tilt my head a little to see Esther. "You must be wondering why I am here. The count wanted me to confirm that you were still alive."

I glared at her.

"I know you may harbor resentment to the family for turning their back on you, but we wish to know how you extend your life and hopefully find a way to help you."

A flash of my aura informed her of my rejection. Their help was no longer needed as the curse was already removed. Money wasn't an issue as well since I'm satisfied with the savings Raveil had kept as it was enough to last me for five years if used wisely.

Esther sighed. "I am aware that you are going through a lot, so I will not force you into anything," Esther stated before leaving.

As she went out the door, Velris came in. She was wearing casual clothes with a beanie on her head to hide her horns. "Master," Velris sat on the chair beside my bed.

At that moment, a strange bottle appeared out of nowhere in a puff of smoke.

[You have survived a near death experience for the first time]

[Reward: Elixir]

Velris hurriedly grabbed the bottle before it fell on me. "M-master, what is this?"

"Help... me... drink it," I managed to force out.

Velris obeyed and assisted me by lifting my head up and helping me drink the elixir. The effects were instantaneous, and all the pain disappeared like it was never there.

[You have ascended to Rank 1 level 7]

[Revenant has ascended to Rank 2 level 5]

Seeing the panel, my eyes began twitching violently.

I had forgotten about Revenant.
