Once Solara and I were at the counter and I'd asked if I could hop onto it in order to properly interact with necessary materials and such, we got started. Luna states, "Well, seeing as I've already seen your name and your abilities and current skills, I'll fill out most of the form for you seeing as you lack the ability yourself, correct?" I nod and she continues, 'What shall I put for your race, I doubt putting down World Ending Slime would be a good idea?' After pondering a bit, I say, "Let's just state my variation next to being a slime in the race section." After all, it isn't a lie that I'm a slime they just won't know the very specific race of slime.
This time she nods and starts to fill out the form for me. Once it's been filled out, I double check it after learning that my abilities and skills can only be viewed by me and those, I deem trustworthy. I can also make certain skills and abilities visible to everyone while also hiding the others. I nod and say it looks good. Luna then directs me to place my "arm" on a crystal of sorts after explaining how it simply shows the level of magic power I currently have and what affinities I may have. The magic power is denoted by how strong of a glow the orb gives while the colors denote affinities.
Soon as I touch the orb, it glows at a level that seems to be pretty close to the brightest it can glow. The color though was interesting, at first it looked like a contained rainbow before swirling into a yin-yang look then becoming similar to a multi-colored night sky. The last one would be like looking at the cosmos, I guess is the best description. After a few seconds of the last color, I removed my "arm" from the orb. The surroundings had remained very quiet this whole time. After the final "color" was displayed the silence seemed akin to what happens when a group is in awe.
I had noticed as I was doing the check with the orb that people were hoping I'd have very little glow and maybe no color. Those expressions that weren't that way seemed predominantly neutral. Now, everyone was slack jawed and in awe of the display. "So, what exactly does that mean?" I asked both Solara and Luna. They were just as shocked as the rest and my question finally stirred them back to awareness.
They look at each other, before Luna starts, "Well the glow means you're very high in mana power and capacity. The fact a rainbow occurred first makes it seem that you're affinities are all, the yin-yang has only been recorded three other times and usually means strong affinity with light and dark type spells. Of course, each time it was recorded something big was occurring in the world or soon did. That last one though, I'm at a loss."
Solara picks up from there, "I've only read of two instances of that occurring. The first was supposedly from a very powerful sage back towards the beginnings of this world and it seemed he played a huge role in shaping our world as we know it now. The second instance was when an individual that started as a hero and later became akin to a tyrant was found or summoned. He used his powers for good reasons to begin with then was betrayed and started to become more and more "evil". The meaning behind it is a little mysterious though one thing both had in common was the ability to shape the world, things and instances to their will when certain conditions were met."
After that brief explanation of the final "color" to be shown many of the stares I was receiving held trepidation. I mimed a shrug best as I could before saying, "So far I only know the magic spell you used earlier to impart some knowledge to me Solara." That seemed to help ease the tension a few dozen notches downwards. "So, what's next in the process?" I continue. Luna notes down the orb's displays into the appropriate areas of the form then, "Next I take this to that item over there and create your guild card. To activate it usually requires blood but I'm not sure if you can do that?"
I do that odd shrug again, which looks like I briefly turn into a partial W, and go, "I'll give it a try otherwise I might try to simply see if I can use my mana to do that part." She nods and the process is completed in a jiffy. Then I prick myself with the proffered tool and see if I can "squeeze" some kind of "blood" onto the card. Surprisingly, I managed to do that and it's an interesting half white, half black glowing substance. Soon as it hits the card a change occurs; it flashes briefly which seems pretty normal based on the initial reactions. Then, the card takes on a black and white border that seems to have an intriguing shine and sparkle to it.
Solara wonders aloud, "Could that have been part of the third shown "color's" doing?" We just stare at it and can't say. Though, "It seems plausible," comes from an individual that was suddenly standing behind Luna's right shoulder. I literally didn't see him arrive; he was just there even to my magic sense ability. Luna suddenly elbows fiercely backwards, with an annoyed expression on her face. Solara has a similarly annoyed expression, though also a slight smile.
"Who are you?" I enquire. "Oh, the name's Silver. I'm the Guild Master here." Comes the quick reply, even after the sudden connection of Luna's elbow to his chest. He seems unfazed, and I notice that there are certain similarities between the two. 'Are they related?' I ask Solara mentally. She chuckles musically in response, and if I had a face there would be a slightly stunned expression in reaction to the beautiful sound. "They are siblings from the same mother but different fathers, thus why his hair is a golden-black and he has hazel eyes. He's been trying to find her a mate for a while as well." Is her response.
I noticed an uncomfortable stare directed at the both of us from Luna. While Silver just laughs, it's interesting and sounds vaguely of wind blowing through tree limbs. Just heartier. "Yeah, though it seems I no longer need to try and play matchmaker. Isn't that right Auror?" There's a weighted gaze on me from him and a small growl, seeming like a warning, directed at me. I'd have had a bit of a smile that says, dude I'm not even sure how this will play out yet cause my level is too low. But, instead of saying anything I nod at him and go, "Depending on some factors and when things occur, I'll be sure to court her properly."
This seems to be the right response and I notice a light swishing of Luna's tail as well as a slight blush perhaps on her cheeks. Her eyes betray nothing that I can notice, however. Solara also nods to my response at almost the same time as Silver. Which come to think of it seems more likely a nickname related to his speed perhaps? "So, what quest will you take from those available?" Luna asks next before Silver can say anything.
"I'm not sure. Anything that you'd recommend?" I redirected to Luna and Solara. I guess Silver too since he hasn't left yet. Luna pulls out a book of currently available quests and flips to the beginner ones. Speaking of which I'm Rank F as an adventurer, got to read through a booklet that details the duties and requirements of an adventurer. Ranks go from F to A for standard adventurers. Then we get the better ones starting from AA to SS. SSS ranked adventurers are few and far between and tend to need to defeat nearly calamity class or full calamity class quests. Solo for nearly calamity class quests and in a very small group of no more than maybe another SSS and at most 3 other SS rank adventurers. Otherwise ranking up is pretty straight forward, complete quests till D rank then to get to C rank or above complete quests and a rank assessment.
Once Luna has reached the F Rank quests and a few E rank quests that she thinks I can handle she turns the book towards me so I can look through them. A lot of the F rank ones are gathering quests and dealing with very low rank monsters such as Horny Rabbits (They have at least one horn on the head and more the higher level they are), and Killer Squirrels (all rabid, with a nasty venom. Easy to kill and easy to treat but dangerous in groups). Goblin subjugation starts at E Rank plus gathering quests for slightly more difficult to find herbs and medicines that grow near areas with beasts.
After perusing the list, I take three quests:
Gather 10 Medicinal herbs, completion reward is 5 copper coins (each pair of herbs can make a low healing potion), if more collected copper coins received is equal to each extra pair. [Exp Rewards: 25 exp. (2.5 exp per extra pair)]
Kill 20 Horny rabbits, the pests like to eat anything but especially medicinal herbs. Completion reward is 40 copper coins, no bonus for extra [Exp Rewards: 100 exp. (5 exp per extra)]
Gather 10 Mana herbs, completion reward 10 copper coins (each pair makes a low mana replenishing potion), per each extra pair 2 copper coins rewarded. [Exp Rewards: 50 exp. (5 exp per extra pair)]
