Chapter 11 - 11 - A truth and Finishing the Emergency Quest

The three that I didn't pull behind me had started to move towards three different people while pulling out the same dagger Lupine had. {Cursed Voidling Dagger: Anyone stabbed by this blade is afflicted with Void poison that will quickly turn the person into a Void creature or Voidling. A scratch will do the same but takes longer to afflict the change. The scratched part can be removed to stop the spread and there is an antidote for the afflicted. However, it takes longer if someone has been turned to be healed.} Learning that there is a cure for the afflicted is a good thing but I'm not sure I'll have the opportunity to use or find it for the King, Henry Starfire.

The other three individuals were all guards, though they seem to have a status of brainwashed. I unfortunately was unable to help them because they simply stabbed themselves after noticing their targets were far away and protected by a Wind Barrier. I summoned it right after putting them behind me. Princess Ruby, Prince Sol, and Guard Commander Amber Selva were those three targets. The three brainwashed people turned into Void Creatures with grotesque appearances and no semblance of intelligence. The king, however, after being stabbed and before being fully turned managed to slam Lupine into a wall where he slumped and lacked any kind of movement.

I appraised him again and was surprised by him being barely alive. I teleported him next to me and bound him in elementally infused "rope" I created from my body that retained the extreme durability of Supranium. I also saw he had a special storage space and that he had defected though wasn't turned into a Voidling yet. "So, who do I need to send to the front of Solara's House and who's going to stay to see if we can at least render those three dead and incapacitate the King?" I ask no one in particular.

I see the guards look at each other and then their Commander. "I'll stay, send the rest of the guards and the prince away," Amber says. "I'm staying," Ruby responds, "Also, I need some blood, would you be willing to share yours with me Auror?" I glance at Amber and Sol who simply nod as if to say nothing will happen to me. I shrug and gesture to my neck, while I'm keeping my eyes on the now four Void corrupted people. The king actually retained his human shape but after appraising him again I realized he jumped from level 50 to level 75, and his status of poisoned had changed to corrupted.

I'm guessing whatever he'd been poisoned by caused the leap in level to occur. His stats are unable to be seen but I did see that he's also in a resistive state to the corruption at his core. My scan ability auto checked him for some reason. Taking into account that and a few other things I say, "Never mind trying to weaken the king he's now level 75 I have no idea how we'd even hurt him. We need to just take care of the other three and try to seal this space...anyone have a means of directly contacting Solara to see if she can help with this?"

Ruby by now was standing next to me and had bitten into my neck, I noticed no blood is trickling from the wound so I must be somehow keeping the blood in a spot that allows her to drink it. I do notice liquid around her fangs but still am not 100% certain of why she could drink my "blood". After taking a few gulps she stops and looks at me bewildered and seemingly full of power. She pulls out a device and calls into it explaining what has happened to Solara and that we need her help to seal the throne room. There must have been an affirmative or such because a bit of relief fills Rubys' face.

I've by this time also sent all those who won't be staying here to the designated location and ensured that Lupine couldn't bite down on a false tooth I found through scanning him and that he had a foreign substance in himself that couldn't be properly identified. I made sure to cover him in an elemental barrier that was skin-tight so he couldn't release it or cause other problems. So, with just Ruby, Amber, Syra, and myself we stood ready to face off against the grotesque Void creatures. They were only slightly higher in level than myself and so I could tell that they wouldn't be too difficult except for a regenerative ability.

Ruby cast a spell that I was unfamiliar with and while I was able to learn what kind of fire was associated with it, Starfire from a world that was made of Uni-Elemental flames (Flames of every element that essentially became one element with all their attributes and could be tweaked to utilized any specific attribute at a greater strength). As a result, the three were immolated without a sound and not even ash remained. I was very impressed, though more so by the fact nothing else was destroyed.

Ruby wore a shocked expression after that happened. So, I assumed her control used to be less...well controlled by a significant margin. I'd actually still been appraising the three creatures and saw that they were not straight up killed but purified and cured. Heck, the fire even had subtext when on the creatures.

{Uni-elemental Flames: Due to having been conjured with the strength of a sun in specifically a fire aspect while the beings were purified, cleansed, and cured they were also immolated and rendered into nothing. Void Creatures and Voidlings are terrified of anyone capable of wielding these powers! You Auror can eventually utilize these same flames, but it will take learning all elements and her flames will be the quickest way to understand them all. Not yet powerful enough to cure Henry Starfire but can extend time it takes for the curse/poison to take full effect and aid his current resistance to the corruption.}

Taking into account all of this and having no desire to let others know the specifics I transfer the knowledge directly to Ruby. I do this by placing a finger on her forehead while still watching the King warily. She blinks a few times realizing what just happened and because I'm facing away from her, she places a hand on my back and transfers the specifics of what my blood helped her with. Next, she casts a flame that seems to embody the anti-void attributes by how it feels on her father which enables him to actually look at us and a large portion of the void-looking coloring retreated from his body allowing his head and chest to diaphragm area to be normal looking once more.

"I heard what you said, and the Voidlings know that our Starfire powers are their antithesis. Thus, their attack on us. Lupine or someone else informed them already." His gaze sharpens onto me, "Take care of my family, I'm unlikely to be able to for a good while and I've already activated an ability of the Royal Families that will kill should the corruption take over and I'm unable to be saved." I feel the pressure he's radiating and understand some of the unspoken words. Such as, 'If you fail, I will haunt you to the end of days and beyond'. I shudder a bit simply because the level of pressure is quite strong and nod my head in understanding.

Solara arrives not long after and notices the state of things. Without wasting any time on small talk, she immediately ushers us out of the room and sets up a barrier or ward that keeps entities out, entities in and is repellent to Voidlings. This of course enables my learning of the same barrier just of a lesser skill due to my current level. I decided to appraise Solara after she's finished to get an idea on how she's doing.

"We need to get out of here but what should we do with these dead Voidlings?" I say. Solara glances at me then everyone else. My Magic Sense actually is starting to get a weird vibe from the area in general especially from the areas where the Voidlings blood has landed on the floor. "Real quick suggestion before we leave," I start while turning to look at Ruby, "It might be a good idea to 'cleanse' the area's where the Voidlings blood landed as well as disposing of their bodies in the same manner." Ruby nods and Solara agrees with my suggestion.

So, we all get out of the area and Ruby casts her flames on the area we just left. Surprisingly, the flames spread without damaging any aspect of the building or items inside. In fact, the flames pass over us as well and cleanse any potential contamination we may have been exposed to as well before continuing to go through the whole Castle and its surrounding grounds.

"Looks like it might be a good idea to use that on the guards we rescued and Lupine to hopefully enable us to get some information out of him." I remark. Everyone nods at the suggestion and then we teleport out of the Castle back to Solara's front yard and those whom we rescued.

{Emergency Quest Completed: Automatic 10 Levels awarded to Auror Maitre, Favorability with the citizenry and Royal Family of the Starfire Kingdom has reached a 50% increase. Ruby, Amber, and Syra have an increased interest in you and will be your traveling companions for the foreseeable future.}
