Chapter 4 - 04 - Experiencing the World

After my quip to Sir Lupine, I then turned back to Solara and enquired. "What is next? Is there any particular place I need to go or such? Also, do I need to register somewhere so I can accept quests?"

I was using my "eyes" to look at Solara while using my Magic Sense to see the reactions of those around me, Lupine's in particular. His face twitched in an intriguing manner and seemed to get red or hot. 'Well, I hope that's all he does and avoids violence.' I think to myself.

"Next thing to do is to exit the Summoning Cathedral we are currently in. Then, I shall accompany you to the Adventurer's Guild. There we'll get you registered for taking quests. Of course, I'm going with you to mostly to make sure no one tries to kill you on the way or otherwise harm you." Solara responds to my questions. I bob in acknowledgement. I've also been appraising everyone in the room to have an idea of races mostly but also a bit of an idea on stats.

Granted, I've only been able to see races on most of them and only a few were low enough level to see stats that were about equal to my own with great fluctuations between the three instead of a more even seeming spread. The races I could see were Dwarves (The stockier humans I mentioned that were ranging between 5' and 5' 5" in height), Elves of various types (Moon, Night, Sun, High, Wood, and a few Arch types of each), Humans, Rock beings, Crystal beings, Giants that seemed able to take on human size, and of course Beast-folk. There were some related to Dragons, Snakes (though mostly human looking at the moment), Cats, Wolves, Dogs, water dwelling types including Merfolk, and hybrids of a couple beast-folk as well. Of course, there were half-races as well of the various types I saw in the space. Though it didn't look like there were many of the Rock or Crystal types that were also half-human or otherwise related to the squishier races that I could see.

After following Solara outside I got a good look at this new world. It was breath taking, the Summoning Cathedral was situated on a high point next to a huge castle. The city spread out below and there was a mountain to the back of the castle and cathedral. Every building was made of well blended wood, stone and metal materials giving the feeling of a futuristic city with no seams. The standard buildings were mostly rustic looking with the colors being pleasant but almost redundant except for style.

The Castle and Cathedral were like Day and Night. The Castle seemed to be made of predominantly white and silvery materials, yes that includes the wooden and stone parts. The Cathedral on the other hand was mostly dark colors reminiscent of a night sky with specks of white and gold trimming in different places.

After admiring the initial view, we went down towards the city itself. As we were traveling through the streets, I admired the architecture and colors as well as the people I could see. When we finally reached the Adventurer's Guild, I noticed a striking contrast in colors to the other buildings. The Guild building was colored in Forest Greens, Black, and shades of Red. It was both awe inspiring and a little intimidating. Of course, before reaching here, I had noticed how there were various races in the city and that for the most part it seemed that there was peace. I also received a few strange looks while Solara was greeted with slight bows and a certain degree of reverence.

Before we entered, I looked at Solara and asked, "Now that I think about it, is there any particular etiquette I need to be aware of in this world?" She ponders a moment with a finger to her chin, then nods before saying. "There are indeed some things to know about our world and social structures. I've been lucky enough to visit most all of the known cultures and some of the less well known. I can impart this knowledge to you if you'd like?" I nod before she continues, "Then can you stretch up so I can do this more easily? I'll press my forehead to you so that it's a little less strenuous on us both."

I chuckle a bit at what she says and then oblige. I stretch up and lean forward a smidge while she does the same. Once her skin touches my body, I start to receive the information. I also learned the skill involved due to a notification that pops up at the same time.

{Knowledge Transference Skill learned; Sage ability unlocked due to a magic skill being learned. Skills related to Sage ability unlocked as well.}

At the same time a bunch of new knowledge entered my mind, and I sifted through it very quickly due to my multi-thought skill. The knowledge gained simply developed my understanding that aside from certain people like nobles, and higher status individuals everything was much the same as where I came from. Granted certain differences depending on the races involved and the culture as well but I'll explain the finer details another time. I also learned that Solara is considered more important than most rulers yet prefers' mostly normal interactions.

Once that was completed, and enduring looks that seemed mostly curious though also a bit irate (shrug). I returned to my normal appearance and then said, "Do you need to enter with me still or do you think I'll be alright on my own at this juncture?" She laughs and goes, "I'm entering with you otherwise you might be killed soon as you enter. Most adventurers treat monsters or those without a humanoid form as something to be killed. Granted some know that appearances are deceiving and not all monsters are hostile, especially the more capable of speech they are."

I nod then enter the Guild at the same time as her. All noise inside stopped immediately. Firstly, due to seeing Solara enter. Secondly, after they noticed a strange slime by her side. I bobbed a bit, made an "arm" and waved while saying, "Hello, I'm here to join the Adventurer's Guild. Where do I sign up?"

I get dumbfounded stares right after. While a person behind a counter to one side hops over it and walks closer. "Ah, Luna Storm. I didn't know you were here today!" Solara says to the new arrival. She, well Luna Storm, was about 5' 9". With a curvy body that was toned, if the way the guild clothes fit her was anything to go by and was as beautiful as Solara. She was also a beast-folk of the lupine or wolf variety, with silvery black fur on her tail and matching hair color with pointed wolf ears on top of her head. While her eyes were a fire-like green. The guild uniforms everyone was wearing were the same colors as the guild building but everyone was wearing almost tight pants, shorts, and well fitted tops. Though, Luna's seemed to be close to having a wardrobe malfunction even though it was properly fitted.

Ah, I forgot to mention that Solara was wearing something Saintess-like just a little more revealing in two ways. Those ways being a slit that went to her mid-thigh on both sides of the lower skirt of her dress and the upper part being strapless and high enough to hide most of her cleavage except a little bit. The upper part was also connected to her sleeves that were only to her upper arm just below the shoulder. The color was similar to the Summoning Cathedral, just slightly whiter and with gold intermixed with the night black color. Luna's outfit was actually pretty normal for what I'd compared to what I thought likely due to the many books and stories I'd read before being summoned with how wolf-kin tend to want to wear less in them.

Luna's ears twitched a bit when Solara spoke, and she nodded in reply. However, it seemed her attention was focused on me. In fact, I could bet she was using an appraisal skill or ability on me. I saw more clearly this time due to using my normal vision and magic sense ability, a silver-black thread connecting us. "So, Auror Maitre...why do you smell like home, and what's with that strange string?" Sola laughs at that question combo. Which brings Luna's focus to her.

'That string is likely saying you're fated to be close to him in some way, the fact you can see it means it's likely to be as a lover in the future.' Solara communicates to her, "I had something similar happen though my nose isn't as sensitive as yours (chuckle)." Luna cocks her head slightly and blinks at Solara with a slightly astonished expression. 'Eh-hmm, I was able to hear that first part. Is that what a string means period?' I communicate with the both of them. Neither Solara nor Luna seemed surprised by my question and just nod.

During all this time the surprised atmosphere related to my apparent ability to talk changed rather drastically. Many seemed to be glaring at me as if I'd either spoken ill of a family member or stolen their girlfriend away. Others were just stupefied and looking between the three of us as if they'd seen something incomprehensible. "Well, then let's get you registered then Auror. I'm looking forward to when you can change your shape to appear humanoid at least!" Luna says while returning to behind the counter with Solara and I in tow.
