Chapter 9 - New Day

"In the midst of the tense situation, it never occurred to me that I could find peaceful sleep. My weary body crawled into the realm of dreams, accompanied by danger and fear." Kim Min-Ho stood frozen, watching himself peacefully asleep beside Hwan Mi-Yong, who lay there motionless.

The morning light broke through the window curtains, signaling the early hours of the day. The clock on Kim Min-Ho's special device showed 6 o'clock. It seemed he had awoken from his deep slumber.

However, Hwan Mi-Yong's eyes were open, observing Kim Min-Ho sitting by the bedside. They had both awakened from their dream world.

"You're awake," she whispered softly, their eyes meeting.

"Yes, if we encounter someone else, it's better to keep our shared sleeping secret," Kim Min-Ho replied thoughtfully.

"Yes, I understand. Besides, we haven't done anything wrong," Hwan Mi-Yong nodded with conviction.

Kim Min-Ho then left the room, followed by Hwan Mi-Yong's light footsteps behind him. Kim Min-Ho's sweet question floated in the air, "Can you cook?"

"With pleasure," Hwan Mi-Yong answered playfully, nodding her head.

"Could you prepare breakfast for us?" Kim Min-Ho offered.

"Of course, as long as you keep me company in the kitchen. Somehow, I always feel afraid of ant invasions," Hwan Mi-Yong whispered, shaking her head with an undeniable sense of fear.

"Alright," Kim Min-Ho replied, making sure Hwan Mi-Yong wouldn't feel alone.

Together, their steps led them to the kitchen. Amidst the creeping morning light, Kim Min-Ho caught sight of Na-Yeon's lifeless body lying on the floor.

"Do you want to move her?" Hwan Mi-Yong asked, her eyes reflecting deep pain.

"No, let her stay here. After we finish eating, I'll ask for Park Dong-Su's and your two students' help to bury Na-Yeon's body behind the house," Kim Min-Ho answered firmly, infusing love and care into his words.

Hwan Mi-Yong nodded in understanding and cautiously opened the refrigerator, taking out a few eggs and vegetables with great attention.

Time passed, and in the dining room, Kim Min-Ho and Hwan Mi-Yong sat together, sharing both time and love in a simple yet meaningful breakfast.

"Don't forget to dispose of the leftover food in the trash and wash the dishes," Kim Min-Ho said gently.

Hwan Mi-Yong pouted, mumbling her complaints as she busily cleaned the plates. "It's strange, I've never been the one giving orders, even though he's not my servant."

Shortly after, with great determination, Hwan Mi-Yong finished her task. "Let's go to Hung Ye-Hee's house," Kim Min-Ho invited, grabbing his katana sword with an enthusiastic heart.

"Alright," Hwan Mi-Yong replied, her voice trembling. Kim Min-Ho and Hwan Mi-Yong left the house with steady steps. Between the open doors, Kim Min-Ho caught sight of a zombie running towards them.

"They're asking for death!" Kim Min-Ho exclaimed, gripping his katana sword tightly, and without hesitation, in one swift motion, he erased the zombie from the face of the earth.

The lifeless body fell with a "Slasshh" sound, its head detached from its body and landing on the ground.

"Let's go," Kim Min-Ho urged, looking at Hwan Mi-Yong, who was scared but still resolute by his side.

"Of course," Hwan Mi-Yong replied nervously, nodding, following Kim Min-Ho's lead.

With firm steps, Kim Min-Ho answered the intricate call to confront the fears of tonight. In a world entangled in chaos, he bravely stepped forward to face the eternal enemy lurking in the darkness.

With a longing heart, Min-Ho knocked on Dong-Su's door, as if singing a serenade in the dark night. The sound of his knocks resonated in the silent night, awakening the anticipation of Min-Ho's arrival.

"Dong-Su, it is I, Kim Min-Ho. Please open the door!" Min-Ho exclaimed with overflowing enthusiasm.

"Just wait a moment." Not long after, his eyes widened as Min-Ho saw a woman opening the door. There was no one else but Ah Yun-Ji, the school's enchanting beauty whom Min-Ho believed had unmatched charm.

"Greetings, Ah Yun-Ji. Where is Park Dong-Su?" Min-Ho gently smiled as he entered the house, followed by Hwan Mi-Yong.

"Greetings, Kak Min-Ho. Kak Dong-Su is accompanying Hung Ye-Hee, who is suffering from a high fever," Ah Yun-Ji replied while gently closing the door.

"What? Ye-Hee is sick?" Hwan Mi-Yong murmured in surprise.

"Yes, Bu Mi-Yong. Ye-Hee suddenly got a fever since this morning," Ah Yun-Ji answered.

"Lead the two of us to see Ye-Hee," Min-Ho said with deep concern.

"Follow me, Kak Min-Ho, Bu Mi-Yong," Ah Yun-Ji responded, moving forward, and Min-Ho and Hwan Mi-Yong followed softly behind her.

Not long after, Kim Min-Ho, Hwan Mi-Yong, and Ye-Hee arrived at a small room.

"I never expected all of us to gather here," Min-Ho said, his eyes gazing at the eight figures in the room, including the fragile Ye-Hee lying on the bed.

"Ah, Min-Ho, so you're the one who came," Dong-Su exclaimed upon seeing Min-Ho.

"Is Ye-Hee alright?" Min-Ho slowly approached the figure of Ye-Hee lying weakly on the bed.

"She's been feeling feverish since this morning," Dong-Su furrowed his brow with evident concern in his eyes.

"It's very high," Min-Ho exclaimed in surprise as his hand touched Ye-Hee's burning forehead.

"Has Ye-Hee been given any medication?" Min-Ho asked.

"Yes, I gave her a fever-reducing medicine earlier," replied a woman who turned out to be Ye Eun-Seo.

"Don't worry, it's just a common fever," Min-Ho added, trying to console their troubled hearts.

Dong-Su let out a long sigh upon hearing Min-Ho's words, then said, "Since you've come here, you must need something." "Indeed, I hope I can ask for your and their help in burying Na-Yeon," Min-Ho replied, his gaze directed at the two young men. "Ah, has your assistant passed away?" Dong-Su exclaimed in surprise.

"Yes, she died from an ant attack," Min-Ho sighed deeply, exhausted.

"Oh, unimaginable." Everyone in the room swallowed hard in raging astonishment.

"What are your names?" Min-Ho asked the two young men.

"I'm Ki Seong-Jin."

"I'm Kang Chul-Soo," the two young men responded.

"Alright, Dong-Su, Ki Seong-Jin, Kang Chul-Soo, follow me to Na-Yeon's final resting place." Then Min-Ho left the room.

"He didn't even ask if we agreed or not," Dong-Su grumbled with a pout, and he followed Min-Ho with Ki Seong-Jin and Kang Chul-Soo trailing behind.
