Chapter 12 - Unlocked powers

'What's that supposed to mean though?', Zayn asked

'I'm not sure. We thought it was only a coincidence for Aiden but it looks like there's a deeper meaning', Coral said deep in thought.

'I'll have to inform Jax later but right now we'll focus on training', she said still looking a bit distracted.

I stroked Arctos as Coral cleared her mind getting ready to teach us.

I focused back on her when I heard voice, 'Okay, your spirit animals will always be like a second person in your mind that you can easily communicate with. So for now try to picture them disappearing. They'll join the training when you all are doing combat again.'

'So what are we doing now?', Iris asked, Isla surrounding her quietly.

'Since you've been able to open your minds now, we'll be working on controlling the energy stored inside you', Coral explained then went on to wave at our spirit animals silently urging us to make them disappear.

One by one we followed her earlier instructions and they all disappeared but I could definitely feel a new presence lurking in my mind.

'Now', Coral started, 'You're powers are a part of you and it's linked with your emotions so you need to learn to control them.'

'All we have to do is find a way to channel that power. It works differently for each person so I can't really help you out.'

'So how exactly do we know what to do?', I asked

'Well Amelia since you already used yours your power has already been channeled. All you have to do is try to focus on the exact thoughts you had when you first used it and then later on it will come naturally at will.' Coral answered trying her best to make it easier to under stand.

I'm not really sure what I was thinking about when I used my powers but I know I was determined to get down so I'll just try my best to control my powers this time.

'As for you two', Coral said facing Zayn and Iris, 'Since you're powers haven't exactly been activated, you have to connect with your inner self to be able to bring it out or try to release it on impulse like Amelia did.'

'That's a bit hard when you have no idea what you're doing', Iris said.

'True but I really can't help you with this. You'll have to just go with the flow, I'm sure all of you will be able to do it. After all, Aiden did', Coral said mumbling the last part under her breath but we all heard it making us laugh a little.

'Well then', Zayn said, 'Let's go with the flow', he then proceeded to do some kind of wave move with his hands as he moved to the other side of the courtyard to do who knows what.

Iris and I shook our heads at his behavior before Iris left me to practice a bit away from Zayn and I while Coral stood at a distance watching.

Okay, I got this.

That's what I thought as I stared at my hands willing something to happen but then again in life you don't always get what you want.

I stood there for about two minutes just staring at my hands trying to figure out what I was supposed to do.

I then looked at Zayn and Iris seeing they were also having trouble.

Iris kept stretching her arms in front of her trying to at least see something but when nothing happened she just huffed and shook her hands for a while closing her eyes like she was trying to concentrate before starting the process again.

When I looked at Zayn I was so confused to see him... dancing?

Coral was staring at him like she couldn't believe what she was seeing and I honestly couldn't blame her, but I had to admit he got moves.

I decided to focus on controlling my own powers so I did the most logical thing I could...

I sat on the floor with legs crossed and closed my eyes keeping my hands on the floor beside me.

I had no idea what I was doing but I was ready to try anything.

As I closed my eyes I could actually picture Arctos laying on his belly in front of me as he looked straight at me.

'You wouldn't happen to know what I'm meant to do, do you?' I asked him through my mind.

You could imagine the surprise when I heard his voice saying, 'Just trust your instincts and focus, don't force anything.'

I stared at him for a while as his words registered in my head before concentrating on the only thing I needed to - ice.

I thought about how I was connected with it. I practically felt it climb up my body covering my skin all the way to my neck. I felt suffocated as I tried to control the flow back to my hands.

All of a sudden I could breathe again as I felt like I was sitting on something cold.

I opened my eyes and saw I was now sitting on a platform of ice a towering above the ground. I looked at all of them none of them noticing me.

I was about to say something when I heard Iris' scream frustrated as she pointed both hands in my direction suddenly producing a huge force of flames quickly melting my ice platform as I started to fall.

Before I had the chance to think of saving myself or even getting ready for the pain as I landed on the floor, I felt myself suddenly stop mid air but I was also soaking wet as I was partly engulfed in a huge puddle hanging in the air.

I looked at the direction Zayn was standing and saw his outstretched hands in my direction as he slowly lowered it down making me descend slowly.

When my feet finally landed on the floor, I was left wet with a puddle of water on the floor as everyone came to check if I was okay.

'Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry Amy', Iris said looking guilty.

'It's okay, it was a mistake. Thanks for saving me Zayn', I said looking at him.

He looked really worried saying, 'I'm just glad you're not hurt.'

'Well at least we've all used our powers now', I said trying to change the mood.

'That's good to hear because next comes the training to actually control it', Coral said.

'You guys have done great, we'll continue with more training later. I think for now we all need some rest', she said dismissing all of us as she left with us following behind, me in a rush to get out of these wet clothes.

Soon we'll be able to have full control, I couldn't help think as I was already getting ready for all further practices.
