Once Kasia woke up, she felt like something in her changed. It was like she understood that this wasn't as bad as it felt yesterday. She loved her family and she wanted nothing more than to always stay with them, but she was chosen for something. She always told her friends that had been chosen that it had meaning even if they never saw each other again, they were chosen for something greater than themselves. In that moment she couldn't feel that way, but after sleeping and recalling her own words gave her hope.
Kasia slipped out of bed, careful not to wake her younger brother. She passed by her sister's room who was still sleeping, she saw her mother and father both sitting at the table with downcast gazes.
"mom ... dad ... I'm going to be okay. This isn't the end. this will just be my new beginning."
They looked up at her and couldn't help but feel sad at losing a daughter. But they saw her strength and determination in her eyes only then did they decide to be strong for her.
" Let's not regret the last of my time here. I do need to go back to receive my gift again. I'll come back afterwards!" Kasia was about to walk out of her home when her mother grabbed her hand and asked if she could come along this time, the proper way. Kasia smiled at her mom and agreed with enthusiasm beyond what they thought she would be capable of.
They truly raised a wonderful girl.
Her father knows that he should let his girls go together and he will watch over the other two when they wake up and inevitably get scared when they don't see their sister. So He waved them off with a smile and went on to getting breakfast ready for everyone.
Kasia and her mother walked along the path that was previously covered in stones for her, she told her about the pathway that they laid out for her. She felt so loved and was thankful that they did that in that moment. They walked slowly and just talked about everything that came to mind , anything and everything. Kasia acted like she did when she was little and held her mother's hand All the way down until they made it to the House of worship and the god's messenger was waiting. All three of them walked into the room and Kasia went and bowed her head to the almighty God once again and acknowledged that she understood her gift and she accepted that she is one of the chosen.
A bright light surrounded all of them but only two of them could hear the voice. They were all nervous about what was to come and what gift the god would give one of her chosen ones to help her survive.
Only One of them knew that depending on what was given to them would determine the ferocity and how dangerous the world they would be sent to would be.
The messenger doesn't want to scare them so he always keeps it to himself and just helps guide the ones chosen. But lets them choose their own fate because it is their own, not his own.
"My child , you have accepted being chosen? I'm quite glad to hear that. Your gift is a special one, I am going to offer you a replica of one of three houses to begin your journey. The choice of which one is your own. In front of Kassia is an image of three different buildings.
The first one is of her home, the place she grew up in!
She could have her home in that new place... but it would feel so empty without her family. So she decided not to take that one. She would rather keep the fond memories then have anything happen to it.
The second one was of a community bath area, wasn't it an odd thing to be offered? Won't there be bath areas there? It seemed unlikely that she wouldn't be able to bathe so she decided not to take that one.
The third one is a healing house with a healing pool.
This one seemed like it would be the most helpful, not to mention that only the amazingly rich could ever own a healing house. Even with a healing pool, it was unheard of. Though her greed was a part of it, the healing house also had a few rooms attached that she could live in.
What was a surprise to all of them was when she asked if she could add on to it. If there was a way to make it her own beyond just being able to move it around.
"I can change a few things but that will make it so you can't use some of you power while still here. What did you have in mind?"
Kasia smiled widely " can I make it so that only I can approve of who enters this home? I don't want people being able to destroy something precious from here, so I want to be the only one that can give permissions on who enters and who doesn't. I don't know what kind of world I'm going to, so it might draw attention. Is there any way that you can make it invisible and untouchable to everyone unless I allow it to be seen?"
There was a long silence before the voice rang out
" We will allow these changes but that will only leave you five spaces to use and half of your power will vanish from you forever, do you still agree?" Kasia quickly nodded
"Then take your gift within your space and come back here on your appointed departure day. This will be my last gift to you."
The moment she chose the healing house she imagined which mark to choose and after closing her eyes and imagining that mark changing shape. It was only after she felt a change within herself that she opened her eyes, the options were gone and she had a key on one of her fingers. The key was smooth to the touch just like the marks were.
She could feel the healing house and everything about it, it was like it was something in her pocket. she knew it was there but it was hard to explain. It felt like an extension of herself.
Soon all of the light in the room vanished and the messenger decided to warn her because nobody has been able to change their gift unless they're going to an extremely dangerous place. As He explained their eyes grew wide and Kasia had fear in her heart. She wasn't aware that being given something so amazing meant that she would need it and that she was going somewhere dangerous, she was thankful to herself for even offering the option to make it more safe, even at the expense of five different homes she could no longer carry around.
The mother daughter duo decided to walk around the city and calm down after the news they just gotten. Kasia's mom told her to take her great-grandfather's home with her, she didn't take a replica of their home, but she could take a little bit of the history of her family with her. They never used the home and were offered a great deal of money to tear it down but always refused no matter how little they had.
Kasia initially refused but as her mother explained she would be doing them a favor by taking it so they could sell the land it was on along with being able to have something from home. "Let me give you something baby. I'm your mother and I want to take care of you. Let your mother rest knowing she did everything for you she could okay? please.. This is all I can do now." A teary eyed Kasia agreed. They agreed to put everything Kasia owned into her great grandfather's home when her departure grew nearer. That way she could take it with her. Her mother spent all the money that she had on buying essentials like blankets, bedding, clothes and fuel. She started filling the empty rooms with them. Anything she felt that her daughter would need that she could get her hands on, she put it in that house.
