Briar led the way with confidence as they made their way to the city. Maybe it was because she knew exactly where she was that she seemed like a completely different girl in Kasia's eyes. While Briar was always pretty she is stunning when she shows her confidence so openly.
As they see the city in the distance Briar smiled at Kasia and says "there it is!! Don't you worry one bit!!! I will help you, don't let those beasts force you to do anything!"
Briar grabbed her hand and they walked straight towards the front of the city.
They already gained a lot of attention and had many stares aimed towards them but none would speak to them yet for fear of angering these females mates.
Kasia didn't know where to look, everything was so lively and there were so many beasts in and out of human form. A lot of the males were only wearing skin skirts and nothing else. Some were even proudly displaying their naked bodies without an ounce of shame.
It was all so interesting to see. As her eyes wandered from place to place looking at all the foreign things, she almost ran into Briars back because she stopped so suddenly.
Carefully Kasia peeked out from behind her back only to see a large black wolf standing in their way. His fur was as black as the night sky and his eyes were a bright gold and they seemed to almost glow.
To her surprise she watched as this wolf transformed into a man with short black hair and gold eyes. He was the most handsome man she's ever seen.
"Where are your mates females? Why are you coming here alone?" His eyes were stern but held a gentleness as his concern was bleeding through his body language.
Kasia's voice wouldn't come out as she tried to say something but she just couldn't seem to find the right words. Briar giggles as she glanced at her speechless sister before turning to the beast.
"We have come for shelter in the coming cold season , let us meet the king of this city." She was smug in her words and waited for him to bring them along but unexpectedly he asked her a question she sorely wasn't ready for...
"What happened to your mates? Are they coming along?" This tall beastman was so innocently asking what was a simple question but he flinched when he saw the smaller female start to cry and looked all around trying to understand what he did wrong.
Kasia found this man to be adorable and kind. He was genuinely sorry for upsetting Briar and seemed to have been so caught off guard that even his hands trembled ever so slightly as panic began to set in for he must have offended this new female.
"Her mate was killed recently... and I don't have one because of my tribes ways.. it was forbidden."
Briar took a deep breath and saw all the beasts starting to surround them at her sisters words and she knew it wasn't a good thing if more these beasts knew they had no mates. She had to act fast or else she wouldn't be able to protect her sister from them.
"Take us to the king. *Sniffles* we don't want to stay here and have these beasts try to force us to be their mate."
The wolf beastman snapped out of it and finally understood their predicament. He motioned for the two females to follow him.
As Kasia stepped along behind the two she noticed that this beast had such an imposing aura that no other male beast even dares to approach them any longer. Not that it bothered her much, she could now glance at everyone and everything freely.
A small tug at her fingers snapped Kasia out of her imagination and her eyes flicked forward to see Briar smiling and pointing at the place where the Beast king called home. "He's very kind so we don't have anything to worry about from now on"
The beast flinched at her words but very quickly composed himself and soon he lowered his head towards this large male covered in scars. " I have brought 2 females that requested to stay here for the coming cold season. "
"Get out. " bellowed a deep voice. He stared at the two females and grinned at them. But somehow they felt a big sense of unease as he looked them up and down.
This beastman was taller than any Kasia has seen until now. He is covered in scars and many were at different points of healing. His hair was wild and he had a large scruffy beard. But what was most notable was that he only had 1 pale blue eye whereas the other one was just a huge scar that spread across his face.
This beast jumped across the room and landed in front of Briars face and grabbed her chin with two fingers forcing her to look up at him. "You want to stay here for the cold season? If you become my mate I will allow it" his laugh was deep and raspy much like his voice.
Briar flinched and struggled to get her face away from this beast with no luck. His grip was almost painful, he had no interest in letting go of her. " Since when were you the king? What happened to.." Briars body flung across the room in an instant mid sentence.
"I AM KING NOW!!" He roared at her and started to reach to throw her once again when Kasia jumped in front him hoping he'd regain his senses. The beast grabbed Kasia's arm and lifted her up while squeezing so hard cracks were heard by many but nobody was brave enough to stand against their king.
"Hi... My name is a Kasia. ... .... You are really strong... Thank you for meeting us."
Although she was obviously in massive amounts of pain she kept talking to this beast hoping it could help remedy the situation.
"We heard about you being king and wanted to live in such a wonderful place being protected by someone as strong as yourself... my sister .. just wanted to know when you became king. We traveled far just to hear how you became king. I apologize that she didn't ask properly."
The beast spit on the floor and flung Kasia at Briar and the two collided with a thump.
"Stupid females! I refuse to have either of you as my mate, I've changed my mind.
But if you want to stay you each need a mate. Or else I won't tolerate you being here any longer. Get out of my sight before I change my mind." He spat out.
The Wolf beast walked in and carried the unconscious Briar while Kasia stumbled along behind them. Only Kasia and the Wolf beast heard his next words ever so clearly . "Kill them if they don't find a mate by nightfall." Everything seemed to go fuzzy and numb in her mind. Was she going to die? Why?
The wolf beastman nudges her forward and motions that he wanted them to walk in a different direction. With Briar sitting motionless in his arms and wounded as she herself was, she wasn't going to argue.
The walk was agonizing and seemed to last forever because of the pain. With hazy eyes she saw short beastman run up to them with his face pale and panicked eyes staring at the injuries in front of him.
"This is the city healer Von. He'll help you recover..."
As soon as he began to attempt to tend to Kasia's arm she adamantly said to help Briar first. With a slow nod he turned to carry Briar inside his home. Grim faces between the two told Kasia she needed Aure. While they were preoccupied she staggered off to find an area big enough to place the healing house.
The farther she went the more she noticed that she couldn't place it even when there was space. Why... After a while finally Kasia slumped to the ground and a voice rang from a cave behind her.
