"Hello, Kier."
Kier closed his eyes and bit his lips before turning slowly to look upon the cat he knew so well.
"No," he said as he stood from his couch to stick his head out the window. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no." Kier screamed at the night. "I just got here, you ungrateful son of the selfish harpy we call mother. I left. I stepped away. Why can't you just forget about me?"
The Mage slammed the window shut and leaned his back on it with a sigh. The copper cat jumped on his shoulder in a single bound, sat on it, and rubbed her head against Kier's, purring.
"Why is my brother here, Cinna?" Kier asked the cat as he scratched its jaw with his index finger.
