"Mom and dad are…as always. I think dad asked if there were any news from you?" said Rien as he bit into the cheese.
"Didn't ask. Don't care." Kier had his elbows on the table and his head in his hands. "Dad might have asked. Mom wouldn't care so if you're lying, it's believable. I'd be surprised if she's noticed I'm gone."
"My family is fine. The kids want to see their uncle. Linda wants you to know she's still thankful for everything you did."
"How in Rin's nightmares do you manage to deal with seven kids? And tell Linda she's very misguided. I turned her human. Who would ever be grateful for that?"
Rien fell silent. He wasn't eating the cheese, but looked at his brother intently. Kier looked up at him. There was still one family member left to mention.
