"Are you sure it's a good idea to go visit him now?" asked Peppermint as she and Ina walked through the forest. "It's late. He might think you're sneaking in to kill and eat him."
"I'm not going to try and sneak in. I'll knock on the door, announce myself, and be as blunt as possible with everything I say."
They reached Kier's house just as Medes returned from his hunting trip. He hooted to make himself known as he flew towards Ina's shoulder to perch on it.
"Really?" asked the owl. "Visiting him without having told him in advance so that he might take necessary precautions in case you're trying to eat him?"
"Told ya," said Peppermint.
