Medes flew back to the hill to find that the entrance to Kier's house had already been blocked, covered seamlessly again by stone. He pecked on it, more or less where he remembered the portal to be.
"Say the password," came Kier's muffled, urgent voice through the stone.
"We don't have a password, you troglodyte."
"Then why am I asking for it?"
Medes breathed in and let the air out as slowly as he could, both to muster patience, and to tap into the link he shared with his Mage. "Hoot?" he said confused.
"You're an owl." Kier's voice was raspy, full of suspicion. "How do I know you're not just making your natural owl noise?"
