Chereads / SYBIL / Chapter 3 - Nightmare II

Chapter 3 - Nightmare II

In an old and eerie mansion somewhere in the distant woods in a secluded and guarded area atop a mountain which was dominated by unworldly creatures overseeing a city. A figure is seen by the window overlooking the woods and the bright moon in the sky. It was his lucky night. His face couldn't be seen because of the darkness. Only a number of candles were lit in the room but it wasn't luminous to give the large room enough light.

Azriel stood watching the frail looking human as she wandered unaware of the evil lurking in the darkness.

Staring at his back physique in the shadows one can already tell he is a very handsome and intimidating man. He had an ominous aura surrounding him that oozed danger. "I've waited seventy decades after the great war and you finally show up at my doorstep willingly". Azriel speak's to himself.

After the Priestess prophecy thousands of years ago, Azriel has been waiting for the one who would deliver him and finally set him free.

The last of her kind was of no help. He had thought that any priestess from the Perix clan who bore the Peridot stone would be able to redeem his soul and set him free from his earthly bondage. Unbeknownst to him it wasn't so.

He stared silently watching her as she entered into Dina's tavern. "That damned hell hole Dina made. Why would someone of her status and kind be involved in a silly human business. Why does she seem to copy everything human does?" Azriel hissed through gritted teeth.

He had always had an unwavering feeling of amusement and detest towards Dina. She was an entertaining creature but she shouldn't be on his mind now. He has only one priority and that is to get his 'redeemer'.

Azriel watched Sybil with keen interest. He wanted her dearly but was unable to get her because she wasn't actually here. Her soul was sent here for a reason. He didn't intend to find out what it was but he needed answers.

One way or the other, she seemed to have inherited her founding mother's powers.

Since the time he sensed her presence, he had been watching her. Following her every move. She was an interesting one.

Focusing intently on her, he saw her enter into Dina's tavern and was amazed at what happened.

No one seemed to notice her as she entered. It was like she never entered. "Even if she didn't belong here, other creatures must have been able to sense her presence. How come no one noticed her?"

A little thinking and he realised he shouldn't be surprised at that. She is a descendant of one of the very few powerful clan that existed.

He decided to have some fun and also test this little power her ancestors bestowed upon her. "This is going to be fun". He said in amusement.

He summoned Zerah through telepathy. They had a special way of communicating and passing messages to one another without being heared. No one knew of this attribute except Dina.

Meddling in their lives made her to know more than she is supposed to. They let her be because she is a phantom amongst all other creatures even them.

"Go now and instill fear into our guest". with the command given, Zerah left to accomplish his task.

Azriel turned back to the window and watched Zerah in action. He and Zerah had been together for as long as he could remember. He remembered vividly how Zerah started serving him after his reincarnation and followed him around carrying out petty tasks for him. Zerah is a silent devil. No one would ever suspect a man as handsome as him to have high murderous instinct than normal.

"Ahh! he's just like me. Maybe the weaker version of me but strong in his own way. His hundreds years of training is finally put into practice. He hasl become a fine and skilled fighter again like he used to be." Azriel mumbled to himself in the dark warm room. "let the game of chase begin".

Turning his attention back on Zerah, he watched as he moved in the shadows. Flowing with the midnight fog. He transformed into an Onyx, bones breaking, skin covering up with feathers, mouth elongating and turning to beak, he watched him and heard him screech loudly. He flew above the tavern and focuses his eyes solely on my prey.

Sybil walks in and her eyes get fixed at Zerah's. He uses the Onyx stare to captivate her sight which compelled her to be at a stand still.

All efforts went to no avail. She breaks away before it took full effect.

This didn't suprise Azriel a single bit. He expected it from someone with a powerful background as her.

Watching Zerah sigh loudly in frustration, I feel pity for him. No one has ever belittled him as she just did. Not even in his hundred years of existence.

He never shows his true emotions even in the time of his distress he still wears that never budging grim expression.

Frightened Sybil ran out leaving him in disbelief into the red forest. My forest.

"Let the hunt begin". with that said Azriel teleported from the room leaving only....darkness.
