"Anything is possible, since we're entertaining the idea of the supernatural, isn't it?" Mishka responded to Gillian's reaction of fear. "So, people have been known to change themselves into cats and then back again. I mean, when it comes to the supernatural," she added.
"I think it exists, but for now I prefer to say that everything is just a figment of one's imagination, depending on certain external factors, like perhaps if one has consumed alcohol or a drug. Then maybe one can imagine anything," Gillian responded as she took a big gulp of the brandy which was mixed with a soda.
"But then you're saying that what we're doing here can only be a pursuit of our imagination? The suspicions about Grandma, the camera, everything?" Mishka asked, shaking her head. "You weren't drunk when you heard and saw her chant here, were you?" she asked.
"Well, no, but I guess I'm trying to make sense of everything and not allow things to go completely out of hand," Gillian responded. "Anyway, I think we've seen enough on the video up to a cat, so, Milla can keep an eye out for any stray cats around here from now on," she added.
"Actually, stray cats who wander into the house will try to find safety in a place like a basement, but let me watch the rest of the video and see if my grandma interacts with the cat," Mishka responded.
So, she resumed playing the video.
"You know, that chanting can follow us. It has a spiritual power, so we should actually not be listening to so much of it," Gillian remarked while Mishka watched Myrtle on the video.
"It would help if I understood it," Mishka remarked. Not understanding something tends to give it powers that don't really exist, you know? It might be something really simple," she added thoughtfully with her eyes focused firmly on the phone screen.
"I think I should call Milla to join us. Just to change the atmosphere. Maybe she knows what this chanting is all about. Maybe it is something simple, as you say," Gillian responded.
"No, we haven't told her what we're doing here. She can't know about the recording," Mishka responded without taking her eyes off the video.
"We did tell her that we're making a video. We don't have to show her that video specifically. I just want her to share about anything she knows about the nursery procedure. She's light-hearted, so she won't take things so seriously and that will be better for me, I know," Gillian remarked. She then left the nursery without waiting for Mishka's approval.
"Let me watch the rest of this before Milla gets here," Mishka told herself anxiously.
Just as Myrtle picked up a bowl of herbs in the video, Mishka's phone began to ring.
"Not now," she muttered unhappily, but she checked the name of the caller anyway.
"Lyle? Why would he be calling me so soon after I've left Bruce's mansion? Did the team and I forget something there?" she wondered before answering.
"Hello, Lyle," Mishka answered.
"Hello there, I hope you don't mind me calling you so soon, but I just realized that I didn't ask when you would pop in again, just for a visit?" Lyle asked.
"Oh, are you inviting me back?" Mishka asked in a confused tone of voice.
"Bruce wasn't there and Lyle himself will be going back to England soon, so what would be the point of making an appointment to return? If Bruce invited me it would make sense because he lives there," Mishka told herself.
"Yes, just for a courtesy call, we would like to make you feel at home with coming here, since you're a good business person who goes the extra mile for her company," Lyle responded.
"Oh, that's very kind of you. Should I visit with my team then?" she asked.
"It's up to you. If you would love to come with them it would be great, but you could also come over on your own, since it will be an informal visit," Lyle responded.
"Oh that's nice of you. I will let you know as soon as I can pop in," Mishka responded.
"Great, and you also haven't met the designer yet," Lyle added.
"You're right. We didn't find him there today," Mishka responded just as she heard Gillian's voice.
"She is coming back with Milla, so she shouldn't hear this conversation on the phone," Mishka told herself.
"Great, so I will be hearing from you then," Lyle responded.
"Yes, I will let you know when I'm coming," Mishka responded.
"Here's Milla now. She will help us record a video or she will just give us ideas for a good video, isn't that so?" Gillian remarked as she stepped back into the nursery.
"Oh, you're on the phone, sorry," she remarked when she saw Mishka holding the phone to her ear.
"This is awful. I don't like doing things behind her back," Mishka told herself before disconnecting the phone. She really wished that she could visit Bruce's mansion with Gillian, especially since she admired it so much.
They could have so much fun there, but now she had to consider Joan's fears.
"So, how's the recording going? What can I help with?" Milla asked eagerly as soon as she entered the room.
"Oh, we need better ideas for that. I've just erased it," Mishka lied.
"You want to make a video about mysteries, but you're struggling with ideas?" Milla asked, looking up at the ceiling thoughtfully.
Gillian gave Mishka a shocked look.
"Oh, my goodness! Now Gillian is thinking that I erased my grandmother's video," Mishka realized.
"Oh, should it be a mystery? Do you want to make an actual film about it?" Milla asked.
"It would be nice to make a mystery movie at home and then watch it on the TV screen. So, why don't you make a dance video?" she asked.
"It's supposed to be a mystery," Gillian responded.
"Yes, but you can make a dance mystery. Like about a phantom dancer who only dances here in the basement, but who is disruptive at the same time," Milla suggested.
"How disruptive, if he's only in the basement?" Gillian asked in confusion.
"He could make a lot of noise at a certain time of day, when everyone is already getting ready for dinner or tea maybe, there should be murmurs or chanting," Milla suggested.
"Okay, that sounds very interesting. But, listen, did you notice a cat going up and down here in the basement?" Mishka asked.
"A cat down here in the basement? That's strange. When did you see it?" Milla asked with her eyes stretched wide in fear.
"It's nothing scary. I just found one here a few days ago," Mishka responded. "It then just disappeared. I don't know where to," she lied.
"Oh, I would be very afraid of seeing a cat when I'm cleaning up in here," Milla responded, still looking really afraid.
