June's POV
Stunned to the core, I was rendered utterly speechless. I had always wanted to hear him ask that question and now, hearing him is just like a dream come true. I felt butterflies in my stomach, the good ones though but I don't even know what to say.
'how about a yes' I heard my inner voice speak. I raised my head to see him rubbing his face, he paced to the left then came back to his original position. I looked at him stunned.
"Y-you don't have to give an answer r-right now. I guess the timing was wrong, sorry, goodbye " He stuttered in a haste and turned immediately to leave. Snapping out of my stunned state of mind,
"Wait..." I called out while taking a few steps forward reaching out to grab his hands in order to stop him. Leaving his hands, I withdrew mine.
"I didn't say no did I? I asked.
"Well...." he said touching his right ear. I looked at him with a slight frown on my face and acting as if I was in thought. He looked panicked like he would prefer not to hear the answer making me laugh internally.
"Yes, I'll be your girlfriend." I said with a smile after a few contemplations. He had no reaction for a few moments.
"Huh! wait what? Are you serious?"
"Uhmm." I said nodding while smiling. This was something I've always yearned for and I couldn't be any happier than I currently am.
"Yes, thank you thank you thank you." he rushed and gave me a hug stunning me in the process. Could this day get any better.
"Oh sorry, I-I was just so excited." he said after stepping back from me. With a smile, I said shyly "It's okay, it's normal."
"Okay, I'll be heading home now." he said while looking straight into my eyes with a smile on his face. I could feel my knees turning jello. Shifting my gaze, I said holding my hands together at my front
"Alright, see you soon then, bye."
"Yeah, bye." he turned walking towards the car while I stood there watching. As though he remembered something, he suddenly came to an abrupt stop.
Turning back to face me, I looked at him as though questioning his reason for stopping. Hesitating a little, he asked,
"C-can I kiss you?"
"Huh?" On hearing his question, I looked at him utterly surprised. The number of times I've gotten stunned in less than an hour is really baffling. I could feel my cheeks turning rosy.
"What's wrong with me? Forget I said that, bye." he said hurriedly and turned to his car.
"You can." I heard my self hurriedly say like my life depends on it. My face turned to a much redder shade, I don't know why I said that lot but I said it already and can't withdraw the statement.
Not like I would if I could, I shrugged internally. He came closer and landed a kiss on my lips, we were like that a few seconds before he drew back.
"Bye." he said for real this time.
"Bye." I said waving as I watched his car drive off.
My first kiss, I subconsciously touched my lips and smiled. This was more than I had ever imagined. While in my lost state, I felt a pinch on my arm.
"Ouch!" I screamed in pain cursing internally and swearing to knock that person out. I turned sharply to see the culprit. Luen, I should have known.
"What was that for?" I asked glaring at her while rubbing the patch of my skin where she pinched.
"What, why are you glaring daggers at me? It seemed you got lost in your kiss fantasy and I had to wake you up besides, your parents are inside and wanted me to check on you. They went to their room a while ago and I came to check on you. Who knew I would get to witness that, I'm so happy." she said happily with a bit of a squeal.
Obviously she saw it. Wait, did she say parents. I swallowed the lump forming in my throat as I slowly looked up towards their room praying they didn't see anything but it seemed lady luck wasn't really on my side. I met thier gaze with maa giving me a dubious smirk and wriggling her brows. Paa wasn't looking so good, his jaw was clenched as he looked at me sternly.
Why should he look good after witnessing that? I asked myself. I'm sure he did if not he wouldn't be giving me that look right now. Internally face palming myself, what the hell was I thinking, hold on, I was not thinking.
I flashed them a guilty smile and entered the house almost immediately planning to go bury my head in my room.
Sitting Room
"June, what was that about, who was that boy?" paa asked.
I looking at the ground, drawing circles with my toe as I felt horribly guilty and didn't even know how to respond. Paa have never been this pissed with me before and how do I know, I'll tell. He called me by my name which he rarely or never does even though I do something wrong and I feel so bad right now.
"I asked you a question June!" Paa's voice pitched a bit sounding angry; 'obviously he is' I shouted to myself.
"He's my friend, w-we attend the same school." I said stuttering nervously.
"Oh! really?" Paa asked sarcastically "and why did he kiss you if I may ask." God no.
Looking up and towards mum, I said
"He asked me to be his g-girlfriend." not really knowing what else to say.
"He what! and I'm guessing you accepted." he asked while shouting at me. He must be really angry as he never shouts at anyone. I was still feeling guilty when I heard him say.
"First thing on monday morning, you are breaking up with that boy and I'm changing your school." What? I can't change school now, not when I'm about to write my high school leaving exam. Panicking, I looked at mum asking her to help me out.
She smiled at me then approached dad placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Honey calm down, I knew about them and I was in support." she said.
"You knew? So you are part of this." Paa asked.
Maa gave a sign telling me to go upstairs. I mouthed thank you to which she smiled. I dragged Luen who had been at one corner of the room silently as we both made our way to my room. I could hear maa speaking.
"Nick, June is no more a baby or a little girl whom you have to protect every single time. She can take care of herself and can make her own choices. We just have to be there for her and correct her when she is wrong." Looking down the stairs, I paused walking as I saw maa moving to sit.
"She is 17, she's old enough to know what good or bad for her. She's of age to have a boyfriend and the boy isn't so bad, I've seen him. Besides, you can't change her school. She's writing her final year exam. Just calm down." she tried to placate him. I continued going up and as I got to my room, their voices faded. I looked at Luen who was already on the bed. We went to change, brush before coming to finally have our sleepover. At least it helped to take our minds off everything for the moment. We ate the pastries maa made as we watched movies and by 12 we went to bed as the next day was school .
