Chereads / War On Man / Chapter 25 - Saved By The Bell

Chapter 25 - Saved By The Bell

The sun sank low in the sky as Miami descended into chaos. People scrambled about the streets as cars crashed into each other on the road. Explosions rocked the city as power plants and gas stations burned across Miami. People hid in their homes, alleys, and buildings, staying clear of the outside world. In fear of being killed suddenly.

All the while, Turnner and Mitch were locked in hand-to-hand combat on a dead street. Turnner pulled Mitch to him and punched him in the belly. Blood escaped his mouth, but with a grimacing expression, and he countered by cuffing Turnner in the head, sending him staggering on the road.

Seeing this, Mitch lunged at Turnner and punched him in the face multiple times, leaving his eyes, nose, and mouth bruised. He then spun around to kick him, but Turnner caught his foot and kicked him across the street.

Because of Mitch's ability, any attack Turnner lands on him initiates a tragedy somewhere in Florida. As a result, the tragedies that occurred as a result of the attacks Turnner landed caused 6456 deaths. The names are as follows:

Mitch rolled into the corner and spat blood. He was visibly tired, and his regeneration, although fast, had slowed. The moment he got on his knees, Turnner's first appearance appeared below his chin, and without any time to react, he was punched into the air. Immediately, Turnner jumped after Mitch and punched him through several highrise buildings.

as a result of the appropriate tragedies.

Mitch landed on the roof of a building and left a big crack in the concrete below him. After staring into the sky for a bit, he jumped to his feet and saw Turner standing there.

"You know, Mitch, I've punched you in the lungs several times; you should have regenerated a new lung by now." Turnner said.

"Don't talk nonsense; Turnner, a new lung won't fix my problem." Mitch replied, ignoring the comment.

"I digress; it's near impossible to die from a sickness in this world. Just cut out the part that's making you sick, and the new piece will regrow."

"Well, mine's extensive. If I want to get rid of my lung cancer. I'd need to erase myself and regenerate."

Turnner smirked. "You're being controlled, Mitch; there's nothing wrong with you."

Mitch frowned. "If that's the case, then what about you? Are you being controlled?"

"No, I assure you, I'm in control."

Mitch let out a loud laugh. This pestered Turnner, who shook his head and lunged at him. Mitch saw this and grabbed Turnner's hand before he could hit him, then he pulled a black-handled knife out of his suit and angled it to stab him in the neck.

Turnner became concerned. His eyes watched as the knife approached his neck. Knowing there was nothing he could do. However, before Mitch could stab him, a shadow passed over them and said, "Clean cut. Both of Mich's hands were sliced into tiny pieces, and Tokito landed on his knees. As his hands regenerated, he said, "I've arrived."

A now confused Mitch reacted immediately. He regenerated his arms instantly, which surprised Turnner, who said, "So you still have some juice left." but there was no time to lose. Turnner swung his hand at Mitch, who blocked it, and the two started sharing blows.

Tokito dashed at Mitch with his fist clenched, so Mitch decided to block Tokito with his right hand. Their arms interlocked, which allowed Turnner to punch him in the face, and at the same time, Tokito used his ability, which caused Mitch's arm to slice into pieces.

Right after that, Tunner punched him in the stomach and sent him flying to the edge of the roof. A now-weakened Mitch slowly got on his knees. He was tired; blood dripped from slowly regenerating wounds, and he coughed up blood.

"It's the end of the road, Mitch; those pouches I'm hitting you with aren't normal. Since my reserves are way higher than yours. My punches hit 10 times harder; the fight was bound to end this way."

Mitch frowned and said to himself, "He ain't wrong, but I can't die yet." Then Mitch shouted, "Don't get all high and mighty; you haven't won yet."

Turnner, who was walking towards him, answered, "Come on now, Mitch, don't place your hope on some trick you've got up your sleeve."

"That's exactly what I'm doing."

Turnner shook his head and shouted, "Let's get him!" Then he and Toktio both dashed at Mitch. However, instead of retaliating, Mitch simply leaned back and fell off the high building, and both Tokito and Turnner followed him.

As they all fell, he looked at both of them with his body in a flat position and said, "Tragic Onslaught."

Large holes that went through and through appeared across Turnner and Toktios body. And slices similar to the ones Tokito inflicts on his opponents chopped them up into chunks. Almost severing all of their hearts.

When he was close to the ground, Mitch adjusted his body to fall on his feet. As a result, he left a big, cracked-up dent on the road with the imprint of his shoe bottom. Lucky, when he used his ability, he was close to the ground, so when Turnner and Tokito's body parts hit the ground, they didn't smash into pieces.

However, by using his ability, he was able to temporarily knock them out, so he could make a run for it. As Mitch ran down the sidewalk, he thought to himself, "My XP reserves are so low, I can't even regenerate properly." He looked down at his arms and feet, which contained several cuts and bruises yet to regenerate, and said, "However, the tragedy god should be here soon so I can go ahead with my plan."

His thinking was cut short when he saw a man standing on top of a four-story restaurant. It was Luther. He was holding his right arm halfway in the air, and he held up four fingers and said, "40 legs.

Immediately, a massive centipede ruptured the ground below Mitch. Flinging him into the air. He opened his eyes wide, and a grim expression overtook his face. The creature's mouth was wide open, ready to swallow Mitch whole.

Seeing his impending death, Mitch said, "No, I can't die now. Any day now, Tragedy God. Any day now."

That's when something said, "Devastation." A massive metal pipe containing gas that ran under the city exploded under the creature. The insect wriggled up and fried immediately from the intense heat and fire. A massive fireball engulfed the area, and thick black smoke rose into the air. In the midst of everything, a hand grabbed Mitch out of the explosion.

Once the dust and smoke had died down, a circle of about 1 km was completely destroyed. The same thing was seen in 16 other locations across the city. All that was left of buildings was rubble and a few small fires in some places. Turnner, Luther, and Toktio were nowhere to be found. The tragedy god, however, hovered with Mitch in front of it.

"In accordance with the 8th Tragedy, all those born with their right hand facing downward were involved in the tragedies associated with the 8th Tragedy. Mitch said.

Dead-

Mitch laughed, "Looks like he's dead. The closer you are to the Tragedy God when the tragedy initiates, the more likely you are to die."

"I'm not dead yet." Turnner stood on top of a pile of bricks. His clothing was tattered, he was missing one of his shoes, and his body was covered in ash and dirt.

Mitch opened his eyes wide, "How are you alive?" he muttered in utter disbelief.

As he climbed off the pile, Toktio pushed some boards off him and got up. "I thought I was dead for sure."

Turner stopped when he saw him struggling to get up and said, "Looks like we've got a God to fight."

Tokito turned his head and saw the monstrous being. "Can we even kill it?"

"No, it represents the concept of tragedy, so even if we erased it, it would just regenerate since there are so many tragic incidents going on right now."

"I see."

"My plan is for you to slice it up into pieces, and when that happens, I will hit the defenceless Mitch."

"Sounds like a plan."
